    PEOPLE NEED TO BE KIND TO LADIES LIKE THIS. UGLY REMARKS SO UNACCEPTABLE. BE THANKFUL FOR YOUR BLESSINGS, HAVING A JOB. A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD. A FAMILY WHO LOVE YOU. SHE IS VERY BRAVE. GOD WATCH OVER HER AND KEEP HER SAFE FROM ALL THE NASTIES OUT THERE. KINDNESS AND LOVING WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT COST NOTHING.

    There are 2 really interesting & sweet Gentlemen that reside on the streets this side of Sea Point I notice you haven’t interviewed yet… they’ve been around the 4+ years I’ve lived in the area. I chat to the one often & he always asks me how my Grand babies are. He asked if I could buy him a litre of milk the other day & he never asks me for anything so I bought it & a chicken sandwich, a big packet of chips & a juice. He was so grateful. I’ve never seen him inebriated or taking any kind of drugs, but he has his little bunch of street friends & lovely manners. The other Gentleman is always doing his crossword & on sunny days if he has some crusts, he goes down to the promenade & shares them with the Seagulls. I bought him a coke the other day as I knew I would pass him returning home❤️‍🩹

    I know her, and afraid she isnt mentally well. We have heard endless stories, she does make them up on the spot and changes. The theme of America is an old story. She was in an accident with her arm and had to have it reset.
    She has been bullied terribly in the shelters too, which ARE NOT (AS ADVERTISED) without bullies,active drug addicts and much competition to get work contracts who are given favourably.
    I feel for June and often saw her in the Main Road in Sea Point. May God bless her,she has been horribly abused❤

    Thank you so much for interviewing this lady I nearly cried when I heard her journey, I have often seen her on the streets doing her crosswords and also working at the library she is so vulnerable. do you think she would accept those homeless shelter vouchers if one was to give her?

      Hi there thank you so much for the positive, uplifting comment. ✨️I am so happy the information sheds light on the story behind the person we so often see in and around the area. When I spoke to Lajuné she did not seem too keen on shelters but it would be best to ask her directly, she is living in front of the Pavilion Swimming Pool currently. She also seems quite keen on books, writing and crosswords as you mentioned, a gift in this sense might bring some joy 😊 I will try to have a follow-up interview with her when I get a chance.

    • @Claire11elliott
      @Claire11elliott 2 месяца назад +2

      The problem with the vouchers is that if a homeless person sleeps in the shelter, they lose their regular spot on the street.
      Each voucher costs R 12,50. 1 booklet of 4 vouchers is R 50.
      1 voucher = 1 meal OR a bed for one night OR a shower OR an item of clothing.
      To keep someone in the shelter permanently would cost about R 1 125 per month.
      Most residents will never buy or donate vouchers because they are too afraid to approach the homeless.
      I assist homeless people in my area and I have been verbally abused and called all manner of names by my neighbours for doing so.
      The shelters do not admit intoxicated people (understandable), but many homeless people are addicts because that's how they cope on the street.

    Thank you for this interview. Excellent questions! There are so many homeless people on the street. Residents and politicians are not interested in them. They just want them gone. I have been accosted rudely by my neighbours for assisting homeless people in my area.
    These people are really struggling and endure immense hardship and isolation.

      Hi there thank you SO much for the comment 🙏💚 Please do not stop helping, we are all ONE human race and if we feel called to help then we must do it. As you said in another comment, your neighbours think if they try to ignore the problem long enough then it will go away, but this could not be further from the truth.

      Ordinary citizens who try to help the homeless get bullied for assisting. I have been told that I am aiding and abetting criminals and that the police will be called on me.

    Homelessness is such a sad story for some people. I wonder if banks read the story of many homeless people, do they feel ashamed???? Did u have a part to play in making people homeless, just think about it? She still look well from what I see. Thankyou Lord for your grace and mercy over many homeless people. Some are gone already, as life is so hard out there. Wonder how do many survive in this winter.🙏😪

      It's most probably the rough l8fe she's lived, against the elements, doesn't get to have regular showers, and suffers from severe PTSD, she needs to be assessed by a Doctor, and most probably go on medication, has Green Point just opened up.a shelter, social work shouldn't be confined to the shelter premises, but in the Field as well, they have the resources to help, and the know how, they need to get involved in the community, one can go for such a nose dive, it's hard to pull yourself up again, the utter dispare of one's situation, a helping hand up would be a great help, were is the humanity.😢 🙏

      Please note everyone I film agrees beforehand to have their stories told and published and are incredibly grateful to finally have a person that stops and listens and inquires about how the general public can help. Lajune gave us a hug afterwards and said 'thank you' numerous times. These videos are so powerful that they have actually helped people get OFF the streets. We also donate money and items to homeless people to sell. This is much more than the 1000s of people who walk past daily and do NOTHING. I will continue to tell these stories as I see fit. If you have a problem with feeling 'negative' emotions then move on to a fluffy cloud, cat or puppy video 😅 Or offer some CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. If you cannot do this then I will simply delete your comment.

      @@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fdHomelessness, poverty and unemployment make most people extremely uncomfortable so they want it kept hidden.
      If it is hidden then they do not have to feel guilty about not donating or assisting and they do not have to feel grateful for their comfortable lives.
      I am assisting homeless and hungry people where I live. Residents in my neighbourhood verbally abuse me and threaten me. The standard refrain is that I am encouraging criminals to come and rob their houses.
      There is no compassion or decency in this world anymore.

    • @HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd
      @HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd  2 месяца назад +3

      That is so true. Out of sight out of mind. Seems the masses like to remain ignorantly blissful. This channel is going to start purchasing/manufacturing license disc holders or car air fresheners or the like that we will give out to homeless people to sell. People can criticise all they want, I know these videos, the donation of items and just generally creating awareness will help. The reality is the government will not save them (or us.) The more programs and initiatives we as the people create the better.
