    We were warned in the 80s, 'If government is strong enough to do something for you, it is strong enough to do something to you.' All governments tend toward tyranny (all), which is the reason that our Founders divided power, dividing ambition, formed three branches which could check each other, and created an electoral college so that not even the public could tyrannize any minority or vote in a government on a whim ('we'll pay you money; was a big one for the Founders). If you want your church to be left alone when the government wants to control it (covid, remember), the church needs to
    1) Learn about how important and how fragile liberty is, and always, always vote for liberty.
    2) Take responsibility for our duties to our society, such as evangelizing everybody, all the time.

      [Arguably] the world is moving inexorably towards a one-world government [in the far distant future], via a one-world WEF-directed [near future] economic sysytem, stakeholderr capitalism; and this system will have widespread popular support because it appears to be strong enough to do something good for everyone [the supposed stakeholders] - but really works in favour of elites [the main stakeholders]. I really don't know if this is what is really going on - but it looks like it could be.

    Never apologise for train sounds. One place we stay for holidays ("vacations" in the US) is notable for the trains that race through in the night. Great stuff.

    C of E: perhaps by being a separate province they still get to be part of the Established Church? Or it will be easier to keep all their historic property and infrastructure?

    One observation- Free Church of England is not an alternative for conservatives in CofE. The Free Church would not be a welcome place for female clergy but also high church Anglo-Catholic folks, considering that the Free Church was founded by those opposed to the Oxford Movement. GAFCON in England/Anglican Mission is minuscule and a new province is really the only effective solution I see.
    But keep in mind that I'm a German Lutheran who just enjoys observing Anglicanism lol

    I joined the ACNA here in South Carolina this year and got confirmed by Bishop Edgar earlier this year. I really enjoy the ACNA and I do believe they are the best option for Anglicanism in North America but I do wish they would lay out a solid set of rules across the board similar to the Catholic church. My Church is wonderful but when visiting other ACNA Churches you never know what you're gonna get some don't even feel Anglican so some more consistency from Church to Church on Women's Orders, BCP, Worship etc would be best I think personally.

    • @albertito77
      @albertito77 Месяц назад +4

      I get the sense that people seeking to join the ACNA from non Anglican backgrounds want distinctly conservative church in the Anglican way. They are more likely to want robes and hieratic English. If they want pastors in suits and laid back worship, they have a myriad of options. I think this issue you describe, as well as female clergy, will resolve itself generstionally.

      @@albertito77 yes I spent my 20’s in the typical non denomination rock and roll Church and fell away from the faith when I felt my calling to come home to the Church at 33 I sought tradition and Apostolic Succession. I first tried the Catholic Church for awhile but couldn’t accept all the differences from my upbringing the ACNA just felt like the absolute perfect fit once I found the right Congregation and Church Community.

    1. AU 865 - The Tale of Two Provinces? What the Dickens is this?
    "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness ... in short, the period was so far like the present period ..."

    2. On the occasion of the election of the new PB of TEC, I intone (paraphrasing the Civil War spiritual):
    "Bishop Rowe the boat ashore, Sean-elu-ia, Bishop Rowe the boat ashore, Sean-elu-ia."
    3. As for the newly elected ACNA archbishop with all of the burning responsibilities piled high upon him, Steve Wood has gone from the forest floor into the fireplace.
    Quoting Jesus during His way of the cross in Luke 23:31 (KJV): "For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”
    And if the King James Bible was good enough for St. Luke, then ...
