    I don't about the playability of this guitar, but I do know about its sound. It is a whole lot better than the other one. This one has better bass in that it is more pronounced {but not over powering) giving it a bit of growl which gives it personality.

      Hello 😁 thanks for saying!! Yes I really love the sound of this, I haven't put it down since I bought it. As for better or worse... again, it depends on context and preference. I prefer playing buleria and farruca on the Francisco Navarro but I prefer playing rumba and fandangos on the Juan Montes. Obviously, I would prefer it if one guitar was better at everything, life would be easier that way and I would spend less money 😂 but it isn't that simple in reality

      @@FrancisGrant1 I have a similar flamenca blanca, Mexican cypress body and spruce top. Fantastic sound! Luthier Daniel Garcia Corona. He has beautiful guitars, look him up on Facebook! • @luisroca616

    So random that you would go for a Mexican luthier while in Europe. I’m from Houston and I’ve played a lot of Marlon’s and Francisco’s guitars and I can attest to their sound quality. Your blanca blows any factory cordoba out the water. I like the fact that you pointed out that you like bigger guitars. Marlon’s necks are C shaped and chunky. A great fit if you have banana fingers lol. Congrats!

    • @FrancisGrant1
      @FrancisGrant1  3 года назад

      Thanks Luis🙏🏻 Yeah I’ve imported guitars from Spain before and even though we’re spoilt for choice here, I must say, I reckon you would pay twice the price for a guitar of this quality from Europe. The quality to cost for Navarro’s guitars are outstanding. I’ve been a big fan of Navarro’s guitars for a long time!
      Yes I feel it became trendy for a while to build Spanish guitars with a thinner body and I simply just don’t find them comfortable. I have long arms 😂 I also prefer the volume that you can get from guitars with a larger body

    • @KalJoao
      @KalJoao 3 месяца назад

      @@FrancisGrant1 I like bigger necks as well. Either of you tried their fancier concert or grand lines to attest if this is "good enough" for a casual player? (I had a C10 Cordoba and it was terrible, the fretboard was concave)

    • @FrancisGrant1
      @FrancisGrant1  3 месяца назад +1

      @@KalJoao Unfortunately I have not had the chance to try their upper range models! But I would be surprised if the necks where much different. I wouldn't worry yourself with whether a guitar is 'good enough' or not. When money allows, just get the best guitar that you can and buy what you like the most. Guitars are an investment for life... you may end up picking it up every day for years and years. They bring so much joy to our lives.

    Great presentation of this beautiful Guitar, Mr. Grant 😁
    I own an Alhambra 7FC Flamenco Blanca Guitar (2019), and I was wondering whether buying this Francisco Marlon Navarro guitar would be an upgrade or not.
    Francisco Navarro guitars have been on my mind for quite some time now. This one specifically caught my attention because its kinda affordable (to me) and from a reputable luthier.

    • @FrancisGrant1
      @FrancisGrant1  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you Chiva! Really appreciate you checking the video out and commenting! Yes I have tried out the Alhambra 7FC and I think the Navarro Student flamenco model would be an upgrade but only by a little. It depends what you are looking for but if I was going to invest in an upgraded guitar, I would probably save up a bit more and go for a bigger upgrade. That being said, Navarro produces stunning guitars and the student model is a joy to play. The only thing I want to highlight to you, which I think is important to consider, is the 650 mm scale length and the fact that the neck is on the chunkier side. I am a bigger guy, so my preference is scale lengths larger than 650 mm. But I quite like chunkier necks because I have large hands. I just wanted to mention because all players have their preferences and I think these two factors can have a big impact on the playability for different people.

      @@FrancisGrant1 Thankyou for your reply Mr.Grant🫡
      I wanted to buy the Francisco Marlon Navarro because I can simply afford it. 1500 dollars is my budget. I can go a little higher if the guitar is really good.
      My Alhambra has some kind of a thin neck. But even with that thin neck, I do have some joint pain in my left thumb if I play for a long period. It could be a technique issue, it could be that I need a more "rounder" neck.
      The Alhambra neck looks flat and feels flat which some people prefer. I still find the Alhambra easy to play. But maybe just maybe I need a more round neck like the one on Marlon Navarro. From the video, I can see the Marlon's neck looks more "round". So I dunno, maybe that will fix my problem.
      I ultimately feel like its a matter of adapting your technique and feel to the neck. Like, you gotta be a little open minded about those stuff. I dunno.. I could be wrong.
      Do you have any other guitars in mind you could recommend? In the price range of 1500 dollars? Because I still need to pay for the shipping and customs clearance and all that jazz you know..

    • @FrancisGrant1
      @FrancisGrant1  8 месяцев назад +1

      Again, I can only really tell you my particular preferences.... but if you are struggling with joint or hand pain, I find that rounder necks are so much more ergonomic. They do take getting used to but I would take a round and larger neck any day over a flatter neck. It's tricky because I obviously can never say with certainty that you will like the Navarro student model. But I have yet to find anyone who hasn't been impressed by it. I have reviewed a lot of different guitars over the years, as you can see across the channel, and some people disagree with my perspectives on some the guitars.... but I have yet to find someone who has disagreed with me about the Navarro.
      If you speak with Diego and mention that you checked out my videos, you might get a good deal on this guitar. I spoke with Diego today and apparently this Navarro is an absolute banger
      reverb.com/uk/item/75841344-2023-francisco-navarro-flamenco-negra-1a-spruce-paloescrito
      As for other guitars in that price range, you can pick up second hand Conde Hermanos segunda guitars. Their primeira (or top line range) usually comes over £2K second hand... but you can pick up segunda guitars for around £1.5K and I have really liked some of the ones I have tried. But again, I am telling you MY preferences. I am a Conde Hermanos fan boy.
      ruclips.net/video/iefCEyK_cFY/видео.html
      Valeriano Bernal is in this price range too ruclips.net/video/x2edzU17aso/видео.html
      But if I had to choose, I would go for the second hand Conde segunda
      Hope this helps! Happy to keep the conversation going

      I'd absolutely love to have that Francisco Navarro guitar you gave me the link to if it wasn't for the 660 mm scale (I play a 650 mm on my Alhambra and it's perfect for me). I feel 660 mm is a little too much. Also its a Negra. I love blancas. I'm kind of a super traditional style dude myself haha. That's why I was impressed by the Blanca Marlon Navarro in this video. Sounds very beautiful.
      For conde segunda, i gotta look everywhere on the internet for it because it seems like its out of stock everywhere haha.
      For valeriano bernal, I did look at the Foroflamenco forums and they say they're 'factory guitars" with some inconsistencies sometimes. I just wanna avoid factory guitars to be honest (I already own one. The Alhambra). Francisco Navarro guitars are definitely not factory guitars and that's what also caught my attention. They're all Luthier guitars made by Francisco Navarro and his son, Marlon (just like what you mentioned in the video).
      I think im gonna try to get a concert model Navarro for some discount through talking to memorial music dealers (they gotta have some sort of email on their website somewhere). If they can't cut me a decent discount, I'm just gonna go with the Marlon Navarro one. I already like how it sounds and everyone literally praises it. But I wanted to know your opinion first because you're one of the very few who reviewed this guitar on RUclips.🫡
      Thankyou for your suggestions, good sir, and have a nice day!
      Note: you play like a Spaniard, bro. You're pretty good!👍keep it up 🫡

      @@FrancisGrant1 hey Francis thanks for your reply enjoying your channel a good mixture of reviews and technique and unusually for flamenco your a fellow Brit , I need some advice I’m very new to deciding to learn flamenco though I have played guitar most of my life , and I have just retired so it’s been a few years lol .I have a old takamine classical which I have started the learn some basics on but due to the action I find it hard so I’ve been looking at crossover nylon guitars and like the Furch one , but even though it’s going to be easier to play it’s not going to give me that authentic sound . I just want a lower action . Thanks for saying Alan! Super happy to hear you're enjoying my videos 😁
      Great to hear you're giving flamenco a go. I played electric and steel string for a good decade before even knowing what flamenco was, it's never too late and it's a fun style to learn... there will always be something to keep you interested.
      So I don't know a lot about crossover guitars but people highly rate the Yamaha NXT 900 FM. You can't really go wrong with Yamaha and I would rate their guitars under £1K as some of the best (better than those made by 'Spanish' luthiers). I have tried the Cordoba Fusion Crossover in a store before and enjoyed the experience. A lot of people give Cordoba a hard time but I am a fan, they sometimes have issues with quality control but all the ones I have tried have been solid. Alhambra is OK but it's more of a classical guitar brand... you probably won't get that growl that you need for the flamenco style. The best 'authentic' flamenco guitar you can buy under £500 is the Yamaha CG182SF. I am actually looking to buy this guitar again, funnily enough, as I sold all of my guitars to purchase my current Conde Hermanos 1a negra
