I just got my Russian today and I don’t know if this is a problem but all he has done today is dig and then sleep in the spot he dug in… I’m not sure if that’s a problem, I don’t think it is, but just to make sure i want to know if that’s a problem. Anyone have answers???
I'm 10 right now, I've owned red eared sliders before, when I grow 20, I will have Russians. I'm trying to know as most as I can. But, you do a great job at explaining!
i think i might get my own Russian tortoise because i have always loved reptiles heck my first word was dinosaur and those are reptiles. If i do get a Russian tortoise i was thinking about naming it Terry the tortoise
Hey man just wanted to say your videos are very informative. I have a pink belly side-neck turtle but literally today I rescued a Russian Tortoise. He is 4 inches long and was living in a 10 gallon glass tank with rabbit pellets as substrate. Yeah i took him home right away. For now i have him in a medium size tub until i finish his enclosure this week. I have been watching your videos and researching more on this species and plan to make him a long awaited proper tortoise enclosure. Would love to show you a before and after.
Great video, and great synopsis of how awesome Russian Tortoises are! Question: I’ve had my tortoise for over a year, and he used to eat his greens no problem, and we gave him bananas from time to time as a treat (with tortoise food). Now, he refuses to eat his greens and will only eat bananas (sometimes with tortoise food mixed in). I’m worried about giving him too much sugar, but also don’t want him to starve, please help!
Tortoises get really addicted to certain foods (usually bad ones) easily. I would try to wait out your tortoise. Keep offering greens everyday. He will eat eventually.
Great video I wanted. To say that your channel has improved so much from when you started it is actually an amazing channel and you deserve so much more subs also do you think these make good pet tortoise is because I was looking into my first pet tortoise I have other reptiles and fish and I really want to tortoise I was planning on getting a corn snake before I get my daughters by my next pet after I get those corn snake this week is going to be a tortoise and I was stuff I was looking into box turtles but I was also looking into Russian turtles what do you think it’s better
I just got an RT and he eats mostly weeds from the yard. I’m a little worried what he will eat in the winter 🥶. I live in Colorado at altitude. Also, how often do I need to change out the substrate?
Collard greens, turnip greens, spring mixes, endives, mustard greens, tortoise diet. All great things to feed. Bioactive - never need to change it, otherwise maybe twice yearly.
Great video! Imo tortoises are the most underrated reptiles
Yes they are!
We have a year old Russian, Sherman and I would agree with everything you spoke of.
I've had my Russian Tortoise for almost 8 years now. 🐢
