Thank you for this I’m 69yo female been lifting almost a year to strengthen bones. Now dead lifting 110 lbs. Having to work around bad knee(s) which gets me so frustrated. This gives me hope even on days I cannot lift as much.
The problem is identify what is causing DOMS. In the biology we don’t know. Dr. Andy Galpin alluded it was the free radicals escaping through fissures but even this is an assumption since taking antioxidants doesn’t subside the pain. What I can say is DOMS is a good indication you at least trained enough but not feeling it doesn’t mean you trained too low. If it lasts longer than 2-3 days you probably trained too much.
Bro, I just got a gym membership and its been like 10 years since I worked out. I'm 30 now with low back pain, bulged disk, and moderate sciatica and it makes my right leg weak. The personal trainers are always talking about that 80% thing. I just want to get in shape and not kill my back or make it flare up, since that will LITERALLY put me in bed for a few days. So I've basically dismissed them cause they just disregard that or just tell me what I already know. I'm going to try just going for 40-50% for now and see where that'll take me for now. I really need to see what kind of machines and exercises I can take advantage of in the gym tho. I'm not sure if you've already done a video on it but I'll try to look around.

I am an 8th grade running back at 120LBS and 5 foot 4 inches. How much should 1RM be for bench, squat and clean
Would this cause muscle size growth? Some athletes such as track athletes or wrestlers do not necessarily want to gain muscle size.
