Epitomectomy. Incoherent Mumbling of the Dead. Yikes. That album cover is a LOT. REEEE REEREEREE REEEEEE. Love all of this almost as much as my mom would hate it. "GET YOUR HAND OFF MY PENIS!"
Cherubs. Heroin Man. The darkest thing about this massive, noisy, and frantically mad album is possibly the cover photo. If that's NOT a picture of the dude they're bellowing about, I don't want to know. I choose my own reality. The walls-of-distortion album closer is by far my favorite, of course.
Soul Swallower. Devoured. Punky hardcore with some of the greatest, explosive grind sprinkled throughout. As with Cherubs, the album closer is where they hammer in all my cheat codes.
Rachel Feinstein. Big Guy. Hotter Gina Gershon being more Gina than Gershon. Her impression of her husband sounds like she’s married to Vos and I can’t unsee it in my mind. She’s just telling me stories, not so many jokes, which puts her in the same camp as Iliza and Nikki.
Gary Vider. It Could Be Worse. This guy is SO deadpan, he might actually be dead. "I wanted to tell my wife how uncomfortable I was, but she was busy." I smiled at that one. "Let me talk to them. These kids are disgusting." A lot of fun left-field punches, ala Jeselnik, and I love it. The outfit is a little off and I wonder if it's on purpose. Shirt has a weird collar, and the tie is too long. It's JUST off enough to be barely noticeable. I'm a huge fan of subtlety, though, so I hope that's what he was going for here. Or maybe I'm a fashion idiot, and that's just how collars and ties be nowadays. "It could be worse--it could be really hot outside."
