So the theory behind running a fresh rebuild through a couple heat cycles is logical. As a Precision machinist I have seen all sorts of metals and the affects that heat has on them. Running a couple heat cycles allows all metals to expand and contract before being ridden hard. The metals have now gone through relatively gently expansion and contractions before going through more extreme cycles. Bottom line, this can only be beneficial. Iam sure plenty of people have had success not doing this but it can only help in adding to longevity and reliability. These are just the facts of how metals react to being heated.

Well at least he is learning.. as far as engine break-in there's more opinions than there are assholes in the world I myself have always done a few heat cycles and done some moderate to aggressive riding afterwards varying speed you want to break the rings and cylinder in not polish them. Revving the engine does little if anything. You need to accelerate then release the throttle so the vacuum will pull the rings into the cylinder creating maximum benefits. And stop revving a cold motor lol
Add I lil 2 cycle oil to the gas during break in do like a 75:1 mix ratio it helps keeping the top end in good shape when you break it in then after a tank of gas no more oil it will foul out the plug

It's interesting that during the intro you didn't say much about the transition between how it did sounded before, which was horrible to now when it had the growl it should have. Did you use break in oil? Running your motor on the lower side of the oil needed is dangerous. I'll add that I still don't see the tool you needed for this"build" here's a hint, it's partnered with a rubber mallet and its cheap to buy.
