  • Test & tune night with the datalogger on our '69 Z/28. No DRs, just Conti ECS 275/40/17 300 treadwears at 27 PSI and a burnout. Soft launch I use leaves around 1900 RPM and eases into the throttle. Love a good naturally-aspirated small block - 550 HP LT-1 (.640" lift solid roller, AFR 210s, etc.), Tremec TKO600, 4.10s with 7000 RPM shifts to check rev limiter and assess any top-end lean-out (datalog showed to be fine; I normally shift at 6800).
Mission of this trip was achieved, seeing Air/Fuel ratio 12.5-12.8:1 through all 4 gears (datalog screen and both AFR meters in video - left bank hidden in ashtray and right bank in glovebox). Result of installing stock-looking 1/2" stainless steel fuel line last year along with higher flow fuel pump and .130 needle/seat in our Demon carb.
Car's an original owned-since-new family heirloom with the original DZ 302 and M20 trans stored in a crate for the future owner to take back to stock if they choose. For now, it's a blast for early morning weekend sorties through the twisties (double the stock spring rate, Bilsteins, big swaybars, 12.7:1 re-valved steering box to Cayman weighting through that wonderful Momo Retro 360mm wheel). Brakes also re-valved and 11" rear discs added from WS6 Trans-Ams.
