the beautiful thing about this kind of art is that its vague enough for you to interpret it however you want (yet powerful enough to have deep meaning and make you go 🥺). if the artist comes out and explains the meaning, it ruins the song in a way

This arc feels like a fictionalized version of a true story. Boy makes music, boy likes girl, boy goes pro, leaves girl behind, career "blasts off". hollywood life is alien. living on tour buses, no idea where he is most the time, misses girl, misses home, returns and realizes he's become "alien" to everyone he used to know. All the old places are now empty. It's a dark take, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was somewhat right.
honestly, Joji's music has some incredible plot, he used to do that back in the day as filthy frank he really built a lore and a universe around his characters and is an incredible storyteller I love this man to bits man I hope he's ok
This video itself, was a masterpiece. The deep analysis for each song, and the way you tied everything in the storyline was amazing. The editing was perfect too, especially the attention to detail on how the music was looped in the background. Solid 9/10 video because no afterthought :c
That’s very interesting analysis, I haven’t noticed some of the points you made. I’ve thought about the order of songs and lore as well and the more I re-listen to the album the more I think Joji addresses it to his OG fans and his relationship with his audience, not necessarily a relationship with a girl. See Joji Spotify rise exclusive video - he says the stories are not related to him, not autobiographical, but are related to how he’s feeling. The Nectar song list follows Joji’s public persona development chronologically - such a massive disconnect from the title of Ew to the craftsmanship of the song may mean the song is about his feelings in his Francis of the Filth times.. Modus can mean his audience expected him to churn youtube FF videos like he’s a machine but as time keeps ticking away you can see in the Tick Tock video the novelty of the goofying around wears off and makes Joji look more and more unhealthy. He then says goodbye to these artificial characters in Daylight and implores the public to upgrade to like a new version of him - jojivlogs, and give him love. Sadly the audience didn’t appreciate him for who he is and even said his own vlog ruins some of the omniverse auhenticity - so Joji had to Run (“I know you’re not in love like you used to be, cause I’m not the one that you used to think... I know that I’m stuck in this misery, guess I’m not enough... so I’ll just ruun”). “You blew out my fuse” may refer to his worsening neurological problems. This goes on until he finds a sanctuary in his new music. The hopes are high and he’s under pressure to be a typical “pretty boy”, but chooses to stay authentic to himself, back to his roots with his childhood friend Rei Brown, he tries to remain a normal person. He’s trying to be reborn away from his past, give his music a reboot. So towards the end he says goodbye to his audience through Like you do as his old self, only to welcome them again as the new person that he is after this album in Your man. There’s so much more than can be said and analysed from the lyrics and lore but I get a feeling this album is Joji’s journey to himself.

I love the people who really want to interpret the lyrics behind of a song, I always think "what happen to this people ?" when they compose this kind of pain lyrics, when I started listening Joji's music I think "omg, I feel the same way...omg so.. some girl or someone hurt him a lot... and how much hurt him?, that he had the need to express this emotions into this intense lyrics/music.. I don't know.. it's a shame, but, thanks for those hurting experiences, we have this amazing songs. If the pain behind the lyrics it's real, I understand why Joji never smile or show that enjoy singing this songs (at the last 2020 on Extravaganza or other shows), and I think that singing the same feelings again and again, he will stay in the same pain mood, and that's not the best feeling to stay for a long time, I hope that Joji bring us more lyrics about less toxic love or more positive vibes, showing us that he feels better and he feels enough ( the line that repeat in a lot of songs"i'm not enough") I want a Joji that accept the great and talent man he is... haha Just saying, it's my humble opinion.
No you're totally wrong. Watch more live clips, I've never seen him happier. Also in interviews he's joking around. He's an up-beat guy. I can't disagree more in you saying it's wrong to express sadness through art, saying it perpetuates it. I mean maybe you're right but I've been really sad and depressed and I envy these artists being able to turn it into something beautiful.
Amazing analysis, JOJI has always been a genius in everything he does and this analysis was spot on my guy. You opened up a lot more possibilities for me from this album. Thank you, and keep it up!!! P.S I don’t know how JOJI isn’t the biggest thing in music right now in this genre. My guess is because, it’s too real and many people can’t grasp it. Would rather take the simplified generic sound of ass. Again thank you!
I loved this so much! I also feel like in “Like You Do”, the lyric “lost in the blue” may refer back to the blue pills and lifestyle of trying to drown out the feelings of heartbreak. “they don’t love me like you do” meaning even though the pills and partying are fun in the moment, they don’t compare to the love he feels. what do you think?
i’d much rather go with the explanation that “lost in the blue” is referring to feeling blue, or sad, and him feeling lost in a deep sense of sadness or depression, and the partner helping him out of it
@@prichicidaniel9622 Due to the Smithereens cover being blue, I feel the same as most of them being just about a sad moment referring to "lost in the blue" of sadness.
What’s really cool is that joji has said multiple times that he just makes music based off of empathy it seems, saying that it’s not his feelings, even denouncing it when people assume he’s going through something LOL
The "pretty boys" in pretty boy seem to be looking for something in FTC and there's a line in pretty boy "they follow my every move", so yeah, they might be looking for Wallace

Great video! One thing that I would add is that the purple suspected Curium is Joji's toxic, but it was something that the other members of the team strived towards. This can show that other people's nectar can be other's toxins. During Pretty Boy and FTC, the heavily botoxed old men could be Dr. Wallace's superiors from UN, and could be causing him a lot of stress. This connects to Daylight which may have been a dream sequence with characters that are actually people who were in Wallace's life, and the commanding attention-seeking men may have been a metaphor for Wallace's superiors trying to find Curium at all costs, even putting the lives of employees at risk.
At least we know its not just a esthetic. George is a amazing writer(story wise). This video could be wrong. But not because joji didn't think about how to make the music videos. Most likely they will just be one thought shallow this vid. Or a few thoughts deeper

Joji is a genius. Eventhough he's really very famous I feel he's still very underrated. In Europe for example he's not nearly as famous as in the US and it's a shame, I feel 88rising has a very US-centric view, and you can tell by the fact Joji has still never done a tour in Europe.
We absolutely love him here, almost all of my friends love him, we followed him since the filthy frank days. A tour in Europe would be amazing.. I'm sure it would be sold out in minutes.

i don't really understand the songs when i first listened to them tbh, i just liked the vibes they gave off glad that you explained them so now i'll be more in love with the songs :D
Really really good commentary. My only comment would be that at 6:35, that's actually a Stirling Engine, not a camera. It's a little heat powered engine, the funny thing is you can find the exact one they used on Amazon.
Thanks man. Appreciate it. Yeah someone else just recently pointed it out so nice pickup. I was saying to them that I still like the analogy that Joji is just this machine and is being used like one
Joji's lyrics and visuals for his music videos are so deep. I would never be able to fully understand his lyrics and his music video, until now. great video btw
OK just daw this and binged the rest of the whole series and omg I love them all you're so good at analyzing joji's music I'd never even heard of Dr. Wallace 😭😭
I'm waiting on Joji to hit his infinity war hulk stage where he accepts his past and combines the universes. He should be proud of everything he's made including filthy.
Did you realize the parallelity with clips of “high hopes” and ‘like you do ‘ I think it’s like first when he got high hopes knowingly in the deep of his heart that he is stuck and he can’t do anything but just hope for the better but when he fully excepted the whole truth his chained and unable to move situation slowly gets better as the chains and and magnets rise to the surface (And in Like You Do the honey is more red so it means chains has sunken after High Hopes till’ Like You Do .)
I'm somehow puzzled because if you look at the cinematic side, this lava is like the visual of the apocalypse after the alien in your man invaded earth -- and then there's this one. Great video thoo
I have a little theory that im still crafting about Your Man, I think it shows how our character (the one that went to space) changed during his time being alone and after changing so much he is willing to love again even though he feels he changed so much he perceives himself as an alien, im still working on my theory though, I might change some things in the future
I’ve always loved George’s music, even back in the Pink Guy days, but recently I’ve had my own shitty experience and his new songs speak volumes to me. Nice to know we all in the same boat out here.
I think this is by far his best album and I now realize it’s because I just think of love the same way. Ew is one of my favorite songs but pretty boy is a banger
I always interpreted 777 as a one night stand. Edit: more so that he was the unavailable one, because he was into someone else… whoever the real love songs are written for.
The amount of detail the man puts into his music actually is astonishing, not only does he get influenced by what he's experienced but also takes that to his music side to express his feelings.
Joji is my favorite music artist simply because of this album alone. He manages to create a reality in his lyrics and it’s incredible. His style of music fits very well with what his portraying. His stuff is just master craft
In the video of modus the machine is a Stirling engine. A Stirling engine is a heat engine that is operated by the cyclic compression and expansion of air or other gas between different temperatures, resulting in a net conversion of heat energy to mechanical work.
At 25:10 I’m 90% sure that joji was referencing blue pills in “the matrix”, because they keep you stuck in the matrix in the same way joji is stuck in the industry, and he’s afraid he’ll end up like the same old men that run it badly now, which is why they are in the daylight and pretty boy videos But I also believe joji’s lyrics intentionally have double meanings or multiple meanings all over the place. It’s how he tells so many stories through his music at once. I think Joji puts out content similar to how Frank did. Both personalities craft an atmosphere that leads you to be interested in the lore behind what is going on.
I loved and totally appreciated this in-depth analysis, but where’s “Afterthought”? That’s literally my favorite song in the entire album, and honestly Benee’s vocals were the most beautiful compared to the rest of his songs. But nonetheless, elegant analysis!
Such a well put video, I remember first listening to this album without understanding the real lyrics and only enjoying the beat. This came out before my first relationship and now that I'm out of it, I can finally understand the meaning and lyrics of these songs and enjoy both the beat and lyrics.
This video is an amazing analisis of the album, and Joji as an artist. I fully believe this deserves more views and that this channel gets more recognition and attention. It is really interesting to see peoples understanding of Joji and his newest album as a whole. I hope Joji will release more music soon, not only so that we have more amazing music to listen to, but to also continue this amazing story that Joji has so carefully crafted in these few years.
Man I never felt the same about anything like joji songs like every song is like a love life that everyone been through in the world it hurt then u get up and u keep getting knocked down by love it’s so addicting that u always fall in to it again and again.
I always interpretted as Mr Hollywood as a description of one lost and broken person trying to save another lost and broken person, by using the imagery of post hookup lingering in early dawn lighting. its a song about someone seeing, trying and failing at saving someone else who is on the brink of suicide. "Tell you all the rules, I know I'm searching too Give me all your clues and things to guide me through The end of the world, the end of the world" (Im broken and empty too, I need you to share your tips on how to keep goin') "Don't blow out the fuse when darkness comes to light So much I could do to make you come to life" (Dont give up on life when it gets dark, maybe I can change your mind) "Fingers coming loose, I see there's no more time Don't tell me I'm gone, don't tell me I'm gone"
Holy cow, I've just realised that Vietnamese variant of Ew as love is not the only reference to that meaning. He literally put footage of LAVA which sounds very close to love. Freaking genius

i don't really understand the songs when i first listened to them tbh, i just liked the vibes they gave off
glad that you explained them so now i'll be more in love with the songs :D
Sorry for the late reply but glad to hear it! Thanks for watching and commenting
@roberto_martin is the other user
Joji's lyrics and visuals for his music videos are so deep. I would never be able to fully understand his lyrics and his music video, until now. great video btw
❤️
OK just daw this and binged the rest of the whole series and omg I love them all you're so good at analyzing joji's music I'd never even heard of Dr. Wallace 😭😭
I'm waiting on Joji to hit his infinity war hulk stage where he accepts his past and combines the universes. He should be proud of everything he's made including filthy.
As a Joji fan, I can say this is great work, mate !! Keep going
thank you!
and a papa Franku fan, just to be clear
motion in art is so underrated
Can’t wait for glimpse of us if u ever do it, plus most ppl probably understand the song but I would still love u to review it
I’m hoping it’ll be part of an album. It’s fantastic
Interesting take. I can see it now
I'm somehow puzzled because if you look at the cinematic side, this lava is like the visual of the apocalypse after the alien in your man invaded earth -- and then there's this one. Great video thoo
During the last part about the robots and upgrading, in the extravaganza there was a robot joji next to joji for a photo shoot
the effort put into this video is literally insane
I have a little theory that im still crafting about Your Man, I think it shows how our character (the one that went to space) changed during his time being alone and after changing so much he is willing to love again even though he feels he changed so much he perceives himself as an alien, im still working on my theory though, I might change some things in the future
I like the idea of him feeling like an alien and the transition from loneliness to love
THANK YOU SOMUCH FOR THIS I NEEDEEDDD ITT.
Like You Do never fails to fuck me up big time. Such a good track.
I have that same reaction it's so damn powerful
Easily one of the best songs on the album
Beautifully analyzed, i'd DIE for you to do SMITHEREENS. Amazing video, keep up the good work. 💯🔥
You’re too kind. Thank you ❤️
Very good detailed analysis of Joji's work! I particularly enjoyed that you let the songs continue after you finished explaining an idea.
Had to sub!
you did a fantastic job about the analyzation. I’ll appreciate and give praise to Joji with his songs even more now
Thank you for making this it explains why i feel a certain way hearing or watching certain songs
Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️
Has anyone been checking up on Joji we need this man we lost juice world and Mac miller. We need to hold onto this prodigy
I think he’s touring if I’m not mistaken?
I’ve always loved George’s music, even back in the Pink Guy days, but recently I’ve had my own shitty experience and his new songs speak volumes to me. Nice to know we all in the same boat out here.
the bittersweet lullabies line pulls on my heartstrings
Will you love me like you do?
@@motioninart i already am, man.. you got a new subscriber :)
@@actuallynotryanstopasking thanks sexy ❤️
I find myself coming back to this video to rewatch it a lot..
Great minds think alike
So much work in this video, amazing job !
The amount of detail the man puts into his music actually is astonishing, not only does he get influenced by what he's experienced but also takes that to his music side to express his feelings.
I believe the dangerous purple substance in the mv of gimme love is actually Nectar,
I can't believe this still has less than 10k views. This is truly a masterpiece.
Appreciate you the early viewers ❤️
I'm predicting that this video is going to be recommended to a bunch of random people months or years later
see you in ten years
Im gald to be a part of them
Joji is my favorite music artist simply because of this album alone.
At 25:10 I’m 90% sure that joji was referencing blue pills in “the matrix”, because they keep you stuck in the matrix in the same way joji is stuck in the industry, and he’s afraid he’ll end up like the same old men that run it badly now, which is why they are in the daylight and pretty boy videos
But I also believe joji’s lyrics intentionally have double meanings or multiple meanings all over the place. It’s how he tells so many stories through his music at once. I think Joji puts out content similar to how Frank did. Both personalities craft an atmosphere that leads you to be interested in the lore behind what is going on.
Joji's songs have a lore......we can officially can call it Joji's Bizzare adventure
The jojiverse
run's timeline has to be after sanctuary, since u can see the photo of ship's crew in the end of Run
Yep. I believe I cover this in the previous volume of the series
This video was amazing! Even better that you put the music in the background!
Glad to hear it. Did the relationship end badly?
This video is an amazing analisis of the album, and Joji as an artist. I fully believe this deserves more views and that this channel gets more recognition and attention. It is really interesting to see peoples understanding of Joji and his newest album as a whole. I hope Joji will release more music soon, not only so that we have more amazing music to listen to, but to also continue this amazing story that Joji has so carefully crafted in these few years.
Thanks Lukas. Genuinely appreciate the kind words. What was your favourite track on the album btw
@@motioninart Personally I really enjoy "Like you do", how about you?
@@steezy1211 great song. I think it's between Your Man and Nitrous, followed by Modus
I just feel like he get over it and begin to explore more category.
A rebirth
This is such a beautifully produced video
Thanks man
great video! just wanted to mention that the modus visuals actually show a sterling engine
Man I never felt the same about anything like joji songs like every song is like a love life that everyone been through in the world it hurt then u get up and u keep getting knocked down by love it’s so addicting that u always fall in to it again and again.
A cruel beautiful cycle
ran to this video after seeing his single teased, hope to see a analysis from you 👏🏻
I always interpretted as Mr Hollywood as a description of one lost and broken person trying to save another lost and broken person, by using the imagery of post hookup lingering in early dawn lighting.
its a song about someone seeing, trying and failing at saving someone else who is on the brink of suicide.
"Tell you all the rules, I know I'm searching too
Give me all your clues and things to guide me through
The end of the world, the end of the world"
(Im broken and empty too, I need you to share your tips on how to keep goin')
"Don't blow out the fuse when darkness comes to light
So much I could do to make you come to life"
(Dont give up on life when it gets dark, maybe I can change your mind)
"Fingers coming loose, I see there's no more time
Don't tell me I'm gone, don't tell me I'm gone"
I love video essays on albums like this one
Thank you for making this video, you're the best bro. 👍
damn, this video need more attention, such a masterpiece
❤️
man this is sick, apreciate your work man fr
Stop it 😘
Holy cow, I've just realised that Vietnamese variant of Ew as love is not the only reference to that meaning. He literally put footage of LAVA which sounds very close to love. Freaking genius
Nice pickup!
This is amazing. Great job analyzing his music and the meanings
Thanks man. Means a lot
