    Hi Richard, You tube is hard to build a following but I do enjoy your videos. For me I like the wildlife and not the technical videos on your channel. If you do get the Z8 with a regular output, that could improve your subscription rate but as you say you are always busy and you have a family to think about. You have a lot of pluses especially where you live and your photographic ability, it will just take time and I am sure some of your regular viewers will always stay with you. Good luck.

    Your videos are real and I really enjoy watching them. Hang tough and keep making them. More and more I find myself watching the smaller channels as they tend to represent my own photography.

      That is awesome that you've started watching smaller channels. RUclips seems to be getting worse at recommending only big channels and it can be really hard for smaller channels to get any traction and some of the smaller channels are sooooo much better (imho) than the big channels (20 minutes for what is sometimes an average photograph)

    One tip I was given when I first started was to try to limit the length so they are not much longer that 10mins. One photographer I know is really struggling to get views on his landscape channel. I think he makes them too long (sometimes 20/25mins) not many people want to watch a video that long.

    • @richardfink7666
      @richardfink7666 7 месяцев назад +1

      That`s correct! I only watch videos longer than 10 min.if they are very interesting (like these).

    Hi, I would love the Z8 but I don`t spend more than 2500-3000 Euro on a camera. I had a D750, D7500, D780, D500 and a Z6II. Everthing in the last 4 years. Now I have an OM1 II.

    • @RichardCookphotography
      @RichardCookphotography  7 месяцев назад

      That’s a good policy to follow. From my understanding the Z8 can be picked up from just under 3000 euros here in Japan. 🙏👍🇯🇵

    Hey Richard. I understand what you mean about the growth aspect of RUclips. Like, I refuse to do the weird thumbnails and click baiting or all caps TRUTH titles (lol). Anyway, I'm watching all your stuff and will try sharing your videos. I think you're going in the right direction posting YT shorts. Cheers, friend!

      I think the youtube algorithm supports clickbait completely. I tried this one one of my videos and it had a lot more views but this was just a test on my part as I refuse to clickbait my titles and thumbnails. THe current trend is 'The PROS doe this' 🤣🤣

    RIchard, I've jumped on to the laptop so I could comment (the perils of watching youtube on a TV means no commenting) Anyway, I just wanted to say I know exactly what you mean about youtube. Growth is hard but I love your authenticity and this is something that I strive for as well. I'm convinced that if we do stay true to ourselves it's more important than just trying to play the game of the RUclips algorithm.

    Hi Richard, the easiest experiment I might run would be to include the word “Japan” in the titles of your videos, as the country and culture are very popular topics here on RUclips. It’s always a balance with honesty vs. salesmanship when building a following, but you have the great advantage of actually living in an interesting place and developing original knowledge of your subject and techniques. So for you, I believe you can strike that balance very naturally. I wouldn’t change your style a bit, as it is also original amongst a sea of imitators. Lastly, it is true about brand-loyalist channels running into problems when they try to change things up. I say that it might be more interesting to see a channel focus on skills and fieldcraft first, to demonstrate that any system can be utilized to its strengths, provided the operator knows what he or she is doing!

    • @RichardCookphotography
      @RichardCookphotography  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks so much for this great comment. The Japan thing is very interesting and I have thought about doing Japanese tags or Japanese words in the titles before as I do have a few people from Japan watching. I have also thought about doing a video in my crappy Japanese to appeal to potential Japanese viewers but not sure if I completely want to cross over into comedy just yet 😃🤭🇯🇵🇬🇧🙏🙏🙏💪💪😀👍👍

      @@RichardCookphotography Hi Richard, I have no doubt that if you spoke Japanese and/or otherwise created content for Japan local market, your viewership would increase! But my suggestion was based on the observation that birders and tourists from outside Japan are fascinated with the wildlife, culture, and natural beauty of the place. Are you able to retitle past videos? I think if you just added the city name and "Japan" to the ones where you shot specific species, you might see a lift in your numbers. Your photography content is evergreen - I know because I have watched almost every single video I think, because the birds and shooting techniques don't change over time. One other thing you might try is to include the common name of the birds in each video. I know you've done that already, because I discovered you through your kingfisher videos. But there are other species you've shot and I know birders are always trying to find their lifer birds! I will think on this more and have other suggestions later!

    Richard, its very difficult to grow a RUclips, as I have found out. The annoying thing is that there seems to be no rhyme or reason why some do better than others. I know some very good photographers who get very poor viewing on their channels, and others who are quite poor, yet seem to get lots of views 😮 All you can do is just keep making them as best you can.

    • @RichardCookphotography
      @RichardCookphotography  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks Roger. Good advice. I don’t usually care about how others are doing in comparison to myself and I usually just concentrate on doing things my way but it’s human nature I suppose to question why some videos do well and others don’t. Some videos I’ve planned, spent ages filming and editing and then no one watches.. others I sit down and talk rubbish for 10 minutes and they do well…difficult to know what’s going on. Thanks again Roger and take care 👍💪😀

The Nikon Z6 ii and Canon EOS R7( Iam really into landscape and portraits with a bit of interest in street photography) plz just tell me which one should I go with Iam also buying the standard 24-70mm lens which comes in the box( for both of them). Please be free to give me some other suggestion in the same budget. Any pro photographers guide me through my first purchase. 🙂🙂

      Like yourself I’ve been using a micro four thirds camera in my case a G9 for about 4 years and love it and won’t be getting rid of it. The Z8 is in a different league however with superb auto focus, low light performance, dynamic range and with 45 mega pixels the ability to crop without losing image quality is amazing. I’ve still a lot to learn though but looking forward to my journey with this new camera. Thanks for your reply.
