Interesting idea using the charger. I once had a battery go bad while still under warranty. It was a 2 year old Honda CRV and much to my surprise, the technician changed the battery while the car was running. I assume to avoid anything from getting lost during swap.

Yeah, that's another albeit noisier way to accomplish the same thing.
