Before Red Hood, Before Robin, there was JASON.
It’s Christmas Eve in Gotham City, a young JASON TODD (Francesco Di Maio) is wandering the streets of the Gotham Slums, spending the Holiday with his neighbors.
The poor and the forgotten.
Jason’s long time “partner”, WILLIS TODD (Eddie Vincent) rolls up with a stolen car. Jason reluctantly tags along and chaos ensues.
We’re making a Jason Todd Fan Series. A character study of a broken, but good-hearted, young man whose parental figures and circumstances led him to respond to the twisted world of Gotham with the only thing he was ever taught, violence and aggression. A tragedy. Hopefully, an honest one, about abuse, neglect, and a deep longing for love.
Will Batman be in this? Yes.
Will Robin be in this? Yes.
Will Red Hood be in this… you’ll have to see.
But first and foremost this is a character study of the abused, of the broken. This is a character study of Jason Todd.

This is my dream project. Jason Todd's story is very personal to me. Growing up with addict parents and a deep longing for security, for love, I always related to the poor child of the Gotham Slums. In a lot of ways, Jay's story is my story. I will do him justice and I hope to show you guys something new, something raw, and something filled with truth. Idk man that line was just kinda funny to me and didn’t have the emotional weight. It’s an accurate line, but coulda used a rewrite.

Damn, they really delve deep into Jason's past, his mother and fathers speech really hyped me up. Knowing HiTop Films and watching his essays about Batman and Spider-Man he really likes to put characters trauma, feelings, relatability, their lifes as a human in the front instead of full-blown action so I'm on-board with this fan film and hyped about it.

I'll be real here, I wasn't expecting such an intense teaser. This minute long clip has seriously hyped me up for a fan film. The slow panning into Jason's still and angry face, and the menacing music slowly building up to show the shear anger and fear in Jason's eyes. I think this is really gonna work.
Also not to mention the subtle attitude difference while he's in the costume and the casual street-wear. It really shows how Jason feels more purposeful in his costume, and how useless he feels without it.
The suit is his wall in my mind. His true self is always in there, longing for security and love.
The Batman’s influence is very apparent. Amazing teaser. Chillingly amazing.

Can't wait for Jason, I'm completely sure that you will do him justice, this is actually one of my most anticipated dc live action projects in general 😊

I love hitop’s video essays and fan films even if i don’t agree with his video essays all the time. But they’re so well made and well written. This film looks so good. his visual style is amazing!
I love how Jason's Robin armor resembles Pattinson's Batman armor. Kind of as if the fan film is based in the same universe. I love the small details in the the use of lightening too. A lot foreshadowing. Such a small teaser, but gives such an impact to who Jason/Redhood is.
Finally robin is getting the representation he deserves. Robin and especially Jason Todd is such a under-utilised character in films and wasn’t handled the best in titans so I’m looking forward to seeing him shown from a true fans POV

One small detail I really love is Jason’s longer hair. I’m not sure if it’s from the comics or if you came up with that, but I think it’s a great look, especially in the Robin suit. It makes him visually stand out from how you would typically picture any of the Robins. Not a major thing I know, but I wanted to show some appreciation for it incase it was an intentional choice on your part. But of course everything else looks awesome too. Can’t wait for this!

It's sad how, in reality, the Joker didn't care about Jason, in his eyes, his death was just another knife, another bullet another crawbar, used to hit, to hurt Batman. Jason Todd death was not important for his killer
I always liked the implication that a (very) small part of the reason he killed Jason was *because* he started to like the kid, what with Jason becoming more and more violent.
@@RaptorJesus I had never thought of that, but It makes a lot of sense. For example, in the 3 Jokers storyline, the Criminal was traying to turn Jason into the next Joker, because he all ready was the Red Hood, making It the perfect fit.
@@RustyBrickStudios Exactly. And, even thought he did not know she was Batgirl, It's interesting to think that he inflicted the same amount of pain to the bat as he did with Jason, and all this without knowing It.

i love this, it’s incredible i love the Jurassic change in his demeanor from jason to robin. i love how when hes in the robin suit he looks like someone drafted in the army only its worse he’s drafted by this dark knight tortured soul on his endless war on crime. you can see the saddness and torment in jason’s eyes when hes in the robin suit, this performance is going to be amazing i cant wait ❤️

It's honestly fucking sad that I'm more excited for a fan movie, than any movie that DC is currently working on. I think these companies should hire and trust smaller, talented, independent creators more in creating their movies or at least contributing to them, rather than hiring some big name directors and crew members, who don't understand the characters. I like Zack Snyder as a director, but man he for real did not get any of the characters he was putting on big screen.
Damn, Reeves will have quite a bar to reach to match the style of this Robin suit, you guys nailed it, Francesco looks amazing! Can't wait to see the film.
Such an inspiration, to me, you literally embody Batman’s crusade of hope and Justice, you truly embody a hero in the wake of a world full of corruption and deceit.
That was awsome, I hope one day we see you on the big screen directing movies like this. You dont need millions to make a masterpiece, just love for the source material. The suit is impeccable, so well designed. Will you do a behind the scenes or making of this??

After the Spider-Man lotus controversy nearly killed my enthusiasm for fan films. I won’t let that one experience ruin this for me. Seems promising enough.
After the Spider-Man Lotus thing that happened this definitely gets me hyped for a fanfilm that’s not ruined by the creators I would already like this one but this makes me even more hyped.
Got a regular Matt Reeves on your hands, hitop setting the high-bars 😤
Teaser was really good, about a 8.5/10. Only got a few nitpicks (the first 3 are the only important ones):
1. The hand is kinda weird. Not the actor or anything. But it feels too static. Like he just stopped for red light in red light, green light. Maybe if it was shaking out of anger it would look better
2. The expression is okay. (I think) It wasn't the focus, but it looks like he's watching a movie. Maybe he could look angry as Jason and determined as Robin.
3. The Voice (Mr. Todd?) Should be louder. Maybe get rid of the rain. Perfect time to announce some music from the soundtrack. (If you have one, if not just some classical music in public domain)
4. Just too much red. If you could maybe turn it a little bit down a little bit down. And more blue. (Blue representing hope, and red danger/anger. His future and his past fighting for control)
5. I think the voice is either Jason's dad or criminal. Either way they sound young and as an impersonator. Maybe make them sound like a chain smoker. Or just older and more expirienced.
But that's too much negatives. The suit looks AMAZING. Jason looks AMAZING and the production level is AMAZING. You give fan directors an incredible name man, keep up the good work!
(P.S. I am a nobody so my suggestions/nitpicks mean nothing. I am also making some shots in the dark and this just a teaser. Who cares for the teaser? The teaser is a quick look so you know it's coming and too feel the vibe. You made the vibe, not me so I might ruin it. The trailer however needs to be REALLY GOOD, non stress. By the looks of things it's already looking really good. Succes man!)

That's such a good line because if there's one thing in life you DON'T want to keep asking yourself when it comes to certain situations....it's why.

Alex, no matter what I want you to know we appreciate you and we love you. Even if it's too late. Noone deserves to go through what you and so many others went through. But, you are an inspiration too. You're basically my age and I've done nothing with my life. And I was born into a comfortable amount of wealth, where we didn't have to struggle. But I've seen what addiction can do to people. I have no doubt that you and your team's story will be amazingly told.
I'm not sucking up, I've made parodies of your videos so I genuinely mean this. You may not feel like it maybe but you've made it. Not just in the comic book community but I see you in my brother's recommended too so you've made it. At least in the United States, I have no way of knowing otherwise. But still, that's rare.

I understand fans loved Dick, and Jason was a bit of a jerk, but the fact kids in the '80s actually called DC to vote for the character to be killed (or the company allowed to do this in the first place) was fucked-up.

I'm very excited for this project and am looking forward to see it. But i have one concern: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a screenwriting editor before shooting the movie. Right now the dialogue just feels unnatural and forced. Don't let your beautiful project be ruined by unedited screen writing

The colour and composition here is absolutely gorgeous. The dialogue is rough and unfiltered and the suit looks fantastic. The passion that you have for Jason and his story comes across beautifully in this short. I'm glad to see that everybody's contributions are being put to good use and I cannot wait to see the final product. Kudos to you Sir.

Looks great! The grounded tone, the costume design, the acting... WOW! Although I must say that the audio mixing feels a bit odd-the vocals have some artifacting around the high notes and a bit too much bass in contrast with the sharp rain and thunder SFX. Regardless, very, very excited. Glad to see my money put to good use!

Love the inspiration from the batman. Insane how you've managed to beat wb to the punch with a Jason Todd movie, its such a "Hollywood-able" character arc
As good as this looks (and it does look pretty fucking good*) I wish you'd take your love of Jason Todd and create a new street-level vigilante character inspired by him. In the same way, Marvel's Spider-Man inspired Milestone's Static who in term inspired Marvel's Miles Morales Spider-Man, I think there's an opportunity here to create something really dope that you own and you can do something in different mediums. I follow your content so I know you'll add character insights into Jason Todd the character doesn't necessarily possess in previous interactions and while that's fine - I'd like to see you as a creator benefit from it. Very much looking forward to the whole film, but curious to see what you create for YOU in the next go round.

Titans season 3 was okay, probably HBO magic but they didn't do Jason Todd justice, this looks great and like a real evolution story showcasing Jason's violence.
