    True legend

  • @rickyfl5
    @rickyfl5 5 лет назад +34

Buddy Rich said, (in more than one occasion), that Steve Gadd was one of the best drummers coming out of the "new era" because of his modern and innovative style of drumming. Buddy liked Steve a lot... and rightfully so. Steve went on to play and record with some of the most important artists and highly regarded musicians in the world. Steve Gadd, at 73 years old, is still a beast behind the drum kit. God Bless him!Kai - congrats brother on meeting and having the opportunity to chat with a living legend - and one of the best drummers of all time!

No matter how fast or complex you could play, steve will always teach you a lesson on how to groove and make music on drums. Steve Gadd, the one in a millon drummer.

My idol! He's never flashy. No need to twirl sticks and mumble some rap while laying down his chops. He gets it done by simply laying down a groove. That's why he's one of the most sought after studio musicians around. Thanks for the vid!

Mr Gadd is a legit legend 🏆 💯 To still have these chops into his 70s is totally inspiring, man. His duets with Vinnie on Randy Waldman’s ‘Superheroes’ album are brilliant.

Been listening to Gadd forever and it wasn't about the chops but the amazing feel on the drums. No wonder he's had a fruitful career! Long live Gadd!

This guy would groove playing a pair of matchsticks. Incredible musician. I’ve been lucky enough to see him live three times and meet him twice.

Yes!! After the gig I waited for his autograph and also spoke with him briefly. He asked if I enjoyed the gig and I almost laughed because it was so good! This was the 6th time I saw him live but in my opinion he's playing better now than ever before :) So inspiring that I had to share this footage.

So musical and melodic, a band on his own. A monster drummer. I think that I read that Steve was once a tap dancer and that this helped his posture/ergonomics at the drum kit especially his feet

Nice to see Steve playing matched grip here part of the time, my personal preference when I play.
    Love his locked down groove.
I always try to get at least some of that tight, in the pocket, funk groove myself, too.
    Just that much sexier.
    To me.
Still not quite at Steve's level with all the rudiments but I'm trying.😉
And that gorgeous Hammond B-3 organ be killing it.
    Everybody killing it.
    Very nice jam everyone.

told the story too many times so stop me if you heard this...I saw him live with Chic Correa at BYC Blue Note in Dec 2001. Saw 4 shows, got on line 4 hours before the place opened to get a set RIGHT NEXT TO HIM. (I had get up so he could get out...). On the 2nd show on Sat night, he played a solo samba that brought down the roof...never heard people scream like that in a small club...5 minutes of that...thought the room would explode...I am still speechless...
