Hey thanks Rachel But I was wondering how to pronounce 'doesn't ' in 'doesn't matter'- sometimes i hear it like 'du matter' or something similar - thanks !
I teach some English to a few employees in the company, and your videos along with your explanation help me a lot, they also make the classes more dynamic.
@@felipesales7457 I'm also Brazilian and also in our language there are these reductions as in the Portuguese phrase "Eu vou para praia" sometimes we speak in our daily life "Vo pra praia" I believe that it exists in any language.
Thank you so much. You help me a lot in term of speaking. I'm used to having a problem when I want to speak more fluently but I have to stop my mouth to change the position of a tongue. But now I know that to speak like a native speaker is not only know the vocabulary and learn grammar, but to imitate their way of promouncing like a baby learn from their parents.
For my Spanish speakers: when trying to say "what do you think?" with the Schwa and such just simplify it by saying "guarida think", with an English accent when pronnouncing it and it'll be easier to master
Hi Rachel, I'm from Cuba but as of now I live in Milan. I'd been waiting for so long for you to go over that topic. Great! Can't wait to see you doing likewise with helping verb "did"! Thanks and thanks again
I think I love you! I always had problems with this words since it sounds unnatural when I say it. I never knew how to ask using do and does so I always changed the sentence like "He likes apples, right?" instead of "Does he likes apples?" haha Thanks!!
Hi Rachel. I've found your channel today and it is outstanding for a complete understanding and pronunciation of correct american english. A lot of Brazilians think English is easy. Not at all. Perfect and full domain of English is another level. How many times I've been watched brazilians talking english in presentations through yoUtube or another event and they do not concern about the correct pronunciation and emphasis of what they speak. English heard here in Brazil from many people whose think that they know it, but it's really not true. know it all, completely, I think it is possible just living abroad for years or striving on it just like I do. Studying, Listening and speaking. I appreciated the channel, I'll see all videos and of course, I subscribed it.
Thank you alot Teacher Raceland for your video, ,my problem is to speak English like native people *because of the system of education I'm my country, when I speak with my teachers at my ,they get hard to understand me*I've realized recently to speak like native people is so vital. Thus,I do all my best to achieve that thing*teacher you 'be helped me a lot
God bless you Rachel! You are amazing.... Thanks a lot for all your videos. I will be grateful to learn how to pronounce the word "Antibiotic". Thank you!..
how do you pronounce the word Pronounce/pronunciation is actually a great american english exercise to start with, imo as 'non' sound in pronounce is different than foreigners end up pronouncing it! :)
Hi Rachel! I started watching your videos lately and am learning a lot thanks to your site.I'm originally from the Philippines and migrated here in europe bout 15 years ago. I do know how to write and listen to everything in English because it has been extensively taught as a second language back home...the problem was to speak it without thinking, pronouncing some words right spontaneously and instantly like the native speakers do in the US...my mom is half bristish and I get to go to her place in the UK but I do have a hard time adapting to their accent and english as well. We were taught the American English in the Philippines during my elementary days and I would like to polish what I already have and not adapting too much the UK english which they say is POSH but do have a funny way of speaking. I prefer to learn the American English because they know how to speak and convey their thoughts clearly especially during important meetings, on the news, movies, etc.. Anyways thanks again and I hope to learn more pronunciation at your site.
Hi, Rachel! I've been watching your videos and I didn't see if you've made a video about pronounciations of the same word. Ex: noun: conduct |CONduct|; verb:conduct |conDUCT|; read |ri:d| or |red|...Btw your tips are very usefull and help me a lot in my studies. Thank you so much, this work isn't easy to do!
The more english I study, the more confused I am. It is very hard to me to understand why the same word is pronounced in a different way depending of it usage. That's why your videos are very helpful. Thanks a lot, Rachel.
Teacher Rachel your videos are so didactics and you are a true profesional . I really appreciate you help. God bless you! congratulations about you weeding. thank you TEACHER.
Its a great video and it does have good take away... You help me a lot to improve my english, you are always be a great english teacher. Thank you very much.
Hey Rachel how's it going? First of all i'd like to thank you for sharing all your experience with us, you are a blessed person! I just love all your videos and I use them with my students here in Brazil. I loved the tips you gave in this video and I have never noticed the differences around do/does as main or auxiliary verbs, like I've noticed when you explained thanks a bunch!
Hi! I think you may find my videos on the Dark L useful to work on 'all' and 'wall' (rachelsenglish.com/english-pronounce-l-consonant/) - for all three of these words you want to remember to allow the vowel sound before the Dark L or R sound to have a bit more space. This means that you don't want the tongue to be pulling back for the L or R too early, let the vowel start, then pull the tongue back, this often makes the sounds a bit more clear!
Rachel, here I am again to thank you for another splendid video!!!!! HAHA Thanks again, Rachel. You've really taught me that the importance of knowing the difference between functional and content words cannot be overlook by people like us who love english!! Everytime I try to improve my english I think to myself since english is a stress-timed language what else can I reduce in my everyday speech... and here it is! another awesome video about reduction! Already bookmarked it on my Google Chrome. :)
With regard to this lesson, may be it would be useful to point out that the first D in the words DO, DOES and DID as an auxiliary verb is pronounced as a flap T not a D sound. Correct me if I am wrong or ignore if You have mentioned it before.

English changes a lot. So as a rule we should pronounce clearly the accented syllable and reduce the rest of the syllables with a Schwa sound.
