  • The Banaras Ganga Aarti, also known as the Varanasi Ganga Aarti, is a Hindu ritual that takes place every evening at the Dashashwamedh Ghat, a prominent ghat (a series of steps leading down to a body of water) located on the banks of the River Ganges in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
During the Ganga Aarti, priests dressed in saffron-colored robes perform a choreographed ritual
that involves the lighting of oil lamps and the waving of incense sticks and conch shells. The lamps are placed on a metal plate and are circled around by the priests in a clockwise manner, accompanied by the singing of hymns and the playing of traditional musical instruments.
The ceremony is attended by hundreds of devotees and tourists who gather along the banks of the Ganges to witness the ritual and offer their prayers to the river goddess, Ganga. The ceremony is said to be a symbol of the reverence that Hindus have for the River Ganges, which is considered to be a sacred river in Hindu mythology.
The Banaras Ganga Aarti is a popular tourist attraction and is considered to be one of the must-see experiences in Varanasi. The ceremony takes place every evening at sunset and lasts for about 45 minutes. It is a mesmerizing spectacle that leaves a lasting impression on visitors and locals alike.
