This is great stuff Romain. Hopefully some of us European motorsport fans will have gained a new found understanding of the amount of work that goes into racing ovals. Far far trickier than is made out by people over here.
Never really watched Indy, but the was some awesome racing. Enjoyed the commentary helped understand what was going on. Crazy how quickly those gaps close up at that speed.
Am in awe of you and your fellow Indy drivers bravery and skill. Thank you for this insight and for putting on such a great show in Texas. Know that win is just around the corner for you!
I love this analysis. A great reminder to those new in Indycar just how insane and tricky it is to drive super speedway ovals at 200mph for 2 hours. 👍👍
Great commentary Looks like you are getting comfortable on the ovals, thank you for the humility to show us even though you crashed out. Super insightful 😊
Unlucky Romain, you had strong pace all race, you were in top 3 for a good part of the race. You seem to have great oval positioning, so much finesse required, some Ovals you are quick on. Hoping to celebrate your win soon. Bonne chance!
Great insight, thank you! Unfortunate ending but a great race until then. Shows how much is going on on an oval under good conditions, nice that they gave out tires to bring rubber on the 2nd line, was a a really nice race to watch
I was never a huge fan of watching oval racing but its amazing when your taking part. It may as well be an entirely different sport. Nothing like the fear as your losing the front group and the moment the slip streams gone youre going down a lap.
You were doing so well, it's a shame your race ended the way it did. I thought there was contact but the actual race coverage didn't say anything more on it.
I was there at Texas Motor Speedway. I introduced my NASCAR addicted son to open wheel racing. He’s hooked. Best of luck in 2023, as we will be pulling for the 28 car.
That was a fantastic race which I've watched 3x, you ran a great race and you are gaining valuable experience. I know that if you continue to run at the front like the last 2 races and minus any more bad luck then you will be a contender for the championship. Go and get that win
I wonder how much of a shock it must be coming from F1 where there is barely any radio chatter to racing on ovals in IndyCar or NASCAR where the spotters are constantly relaying information.
actually f1 is one of the more radio chatty of motorsports. whilst not as much as nascar or indycar it is way more than most other series where majority dont even have radios
All I can say is, that sucks! Good run up until that light touch, and that's all it takes. To you Romain , and your team, and to all the drivers and teams, have a safe and successful season👍👍👍 Cheers from British Columbia 🇨🇦
You had 2 chances of finishing - or hell even winning an Indycar race. Here's hoping the 3rd time is the charm because you have proven that you have a fast car and an experienced crew behind you 🎉. Also, I was shocked to see Pato's ludicrous pace throughout the entire race. His car was on FTL mode 😂.
That track is scary as hell. More work than Michigan. I'll stick to the road courses thank you. Balls of steel. Congratulations on a good race despite the tragic ending
This is such awesome analysis Romain! You were meant to do this! Your win this season will come soon for sure. I'm curious though, in oval racing do you rely more on your spotter's call or do drivers still check the mirrors a lot?
What a race! RG, you silenced many doubters with that performance in Texas and St Pete before. Wishing you the best at Long Beach. Indycar is more interesting and entertaining than F1, which should consider running on Ovals to mix it up because the current format even with the new rules, is a total snooze fest.
I don’t understand your luck , it was the same in F1 , it’s the same for. Gasly and Le Clerc almost jynxed , fantastic exciting drivers but the last 1 percent of luck is not with you too often . Great video loved it
Stunning video Romain. Shows just what you all are dealing with. As someone else said I was holding my breath throughout. Going so well and another win/high finish disappeared. Someday soon a win must happen but consistent high finishes appear to be what is needed in this series so don’t overstretch. Great consistent work by your spotter on the oval. Wow.
I always thought i was above avg when it came to motorsports racing, and then i tried ovals. Its such a different challenge and i love it but i feel like a complete rookie even after hundreds of races
This is great stuff Romain.
Hopefully some of us European motorsport fans will have gained a new found understanding of the amount of work that goes into racing ovals.
Far far trickier than is made out by people over here.
I hated how the race ended for you, but this video is amazing. Lots of great insight into all the details and unique skills involved in oval racing.
Was gutted for how your race ended. Your first Indycar win is coming this year without a doubt
Nah, it aint. 🤡 Lotus days are long gone.
2nd place aint too bad
@@ststst981 Yeah. 2nd isn't bad. Just wish he could've used all his push to pass seconds there at the end though

Great commentary

Super insightful 😊
One of your best videos. The last two race results still hurt! 👍
Unlucky Romain, you had strong pace all race, you were in top 3 for a good part of the race. You seem to have great oval positioning, so much finesse required, some Ovals you are quick on.
Hoping to celebrate your win soon. Bonne chance!

Wow, you transitioned to ovals like a pro, huge difference from circuits!
He'll be ready for this next... or not. ruclips.net/video/0z0D-aDBldM/видео.html
I was never a huge fan of watching oval racing but its amazing when your taking part. It may as well be an entirely different sport. Nothing like the fear as your losing the front group and the moment the slip streams gone youre going down a lap.
The amount of trust amongst the drivers is crazy.
man i was devastated when you went out so close to the end and in a great position too. Your day will come Romain.
You were doing so well, it's a shame your race ended the way it did. I thought there was contact but the actual race coverage didn't say anything more on it.
Love watching you race! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights on how the race unfolds all around you.
So much insight in this video! Really highlights the tremendous insight that goes into oval racing. Thanks for sharing. Hoping for a win!!
Really like this content Romain, love the honesty. Good luck moving forward!!
You should make a video explaining how to race in an oval and the differences between high line and low line etc. great content so far!
I was there at Texas Motor Speedway. I introduced my NASCAR addicted son to open wheel racing. He’s hooked. Best of luck in 2023, as we will be pulling for the 28 car.
I’ve been rooting for you since you left F1. I am certain you are capable of dominating Indycar. You are right on the cusp. Please persevere.
That was a fantastic race which I've watched 3x, you ran a great race and you are gaining valuable experience. I know that if you continue to run at the front like the last 2 races and minus any more bad luck then you will be a contender for the championship. Go and get that win
C'était tellement proche, pour un podium ou même une victoire. Belle course Romain, la victoire est pour bientôt. 😉
I wonder how much of a shock it must be coming from F1 where there is barely any radio chatter to racing on ovals in IndyCar or NASCAR where the spotters are constantly relaying information.
ANNOYING
actually f1 is one of the more radio chatty of motorsports. whilst not as much as nascar or indycar it is way more than most other series where majority dont even have radios
The closing rate is insane. I was pretty much clenched for this entire video. 😅
Thank you for video! It is very interesting to hear your thoughts. I will be rooting for you at Long Beach!

Happy your okay! Great analysis, We go again next Sunday!
Amazing content Romain always look forward to post race vids.
Mam, I hated that for you. Great race until then. Thanks for putting up this video!
That was super intense to watch! Tough to see you crash, but as you progress in the sport, I'm sure you will have better results in the future.
Thanks for posting Romain!
super video et utile pour comprendre ce genre de course.

Even though this race didn't end the way you wanted there were big improvements you made on the ovals
Felicitations, Romain! Un weekend inoubliable a Long Beach!
The whole stint in the race, shown here..where everyone was saving and nobody wanted to lead....was bonkers!
Love me some oval racing.
Very good race! Shame about the touch. Looking forward to see you at Indy because your oval race raft keeps getting better ❤❤❤
If anyone thinks ovals are easy they should watch this video. Texas looks really difficult. I was upset with how your race ended.
You had a great run. I am glad that it was a not a serious accident and you were not injured.
That track is scary as hell. More work than Michigan. I'll stick to the road courses thank you. Balls of steel. Congratulations on a good race despite the tragic ending
I followed you to Indy Car. I can see your improvement every race. That win is coming sooner than later Phoenix
Хорошая гонка! Ты молодец! Не расстраивайся! Мы тебя любим! from R with love!)
I loved your analysis, and have now followed and subscribed. I had wondered what happened to you after F1. Now I know. Will follow you in Indycar.
"not ideal" very understated
Your win is coming soon Rocket Romain
dude thanks for the commentary and vid, still doing good work out there dude!
You are one on of the best on the grid! Its showing, just unfortunate luck lately... You will win a race soon!
I was rooting for you buddy. keep it up!
Oval racing is hard man
A mais antiga disciplina do automobilismo!
Great racing Romain
Ik zal je crash nooit vergeten 😢ik was blij Dat je er redelijk ongedeerd uitkwam bless you 🙏
I think I held my breath most of the race. The way you have adapted to ovals is amazing. You are very brave.
Remember, you are the man who walked out of the fire 🔥
Dang you were flying , and just nicked that left rear! Glad your ok and I’m rooting for a batter rest of season!
If Andretti gets an F1 spot, I’d love to see you and Colton in those cars.
Colton can stay here but Gross John needs to go. F1 wont take him back. Too dangerous
Must be quite stressful in that cockpit at these ovals in comparison to F1. 🤯
Awesome video! Enjoyed meeting you in paddock & seeing your run!
I would like to see a full pit entry, tires and fuel then exit to race speed on an oval.
This is such awesome analysis Romain! You were meant to do this! Your win this season will come soon for sure. I'm curious though, in oval racing do you rely more on your spotter's call or do drivers still check the mirrors a lot?
nice fight
keep pushing!!
we need more ovals in indycar!! what a race. if you ain't crashing, you aint tryin'
What a race! RG, you silenced many doubters with that performance in Texas and St Pete before. Wishing you the best at Long Beach. How has he silenced doubters by crashing in both races?
So happy to have Roman in IndyCar!
I’ll do the 500miles on rf2, your video is the best tuto how to drive in an oval, thanks❤
Can't believe Malukas didn't spin with you when your wing hit his wheel
Super intéressant ! Ça va finir par payer c'est certain ! Let's go!
That is so intense
I don’t understand your luck , it was the same in F1 , it’s the same for. Gasly and Le Clerc almost jynxed , fantastic exciting drivers but the last 1 percent of luck is not with you too often . Great video loved it
Ovals are crazy
Gutted, that was intense. Long Beach....
Not bad at all man, unlucky last race and this one.
You're racing well. You'll win soon enough
Romain, if you could chose a track in europe to race in indycar, which one would it be? I would love to see them race in europe.
Great content!
Hope to see you in Long Beach dude!
Looks like a lot of fun until the end
Stunning video Romain. Shows just what you all are dealing with. As someone else said I was holding my breath throughout. Going so well and another win/high finish disappeared. Great video Romain! You had a great race until the end. I was so proud of you.
Please, an opinion about at argentinian Canapino. Argentina in Indy!
F1 needs you back bro
Merci pour ce partage Romain🙂
This was devastating to watch live. I was so disappointed. Two DNFs in a row when you had the chance to win. I'm sure that win is coming soon.
Oh definitely, can't wait to see him on the top step of the podium
It blows my mind that this wasn't a packed house. This might be a better oval race than we have seen out of the 500 in some time.
the 2015 Fontana race might have been the greatest 500 mile race ever run and about 8 people were there
iRacing looking insane 😮
Vraiment top ce format !
Merci Romain Pour cette vidéo
On comprend mieux et Bravo Pour ton Podium longbeach
it would be nice if you added a placement number so its a bit easier to see
RoGro lives to fight another day!
Ovals showcase just how incredibly fast these cars really are.
You should interview your spotter. That person sounds crucial to keeping the car in one piece
There is a video with him on my channel :)
@@RomainGrosjean8 I'll check it out, thanks! :)
Would be interested to see F1 on one of these tracks
I always thought i was above avg when it came to motorsports racing, and then i tried ovals. Its such a different challenge and i love it but i feel like a complete rookie even after hundreds of races
How long does it take for the tires on a Indy car to get up to temperature compared to a F1 car?
So unlucky at the end....impressive race from you and the other guys...
Hey.. That's an oval track.. Time to retire the Real Racers Turn Right T shirts. Thanks for the VID!
I'm surprised there's so much coasting and lifting.
Who's spotting? Keep digging, RG. Just a matter of seat time. You're a natural talent on ovals.
Top 👍
the rhythm of ovals is so meditative or is it just me
You've really picked up oval racing last year and this year, great job romain
saw this in person and when i saw the yellow come out and you didnt come around the corner i knew something happened to you
