Woo hoo Tom, you're a winner! I think I've won one thing in my life and can't remember what it was. I like your idea of selling what you have and taking the money and trading in the Ski Doo to get you a pretty nice VR1 or whatever your fancy is. I tell you Ski Doo is my second choice, but this year like last year sucks for snow in neck of the woods, and I'm seriously thinking of selling all my sleds and just keep my vintage 73 Columbia. It would relieve me of the anxiety of hoping for snow and never getting it. Look forward to seeing what you get!
Thanks Ken. Definitely have to think about what I’m going to get. In the northeast, we can’t get out of the pattern of rain. The summer was horrible as well. We had 3 weekends that didn’t have rain and it’s just continued all the way into December. The weather geeks are dying it’s going to change in January. But we’ll see.
Congrats Tom!! I've been waiting for you to put out this video. I can totally understand why you would make the decision that you did. The only thing that I'm wondering at this point is if you are going to get a hiogher model Ski-Doo or a new Polaris. I guess you can save that for another video even if you've made up your mind already. Looking forward to seeing what you end up getting. Bring on the snow!!
I’m open to anything at this point. Except Cat, mainly because the closet dealer is 60 miles south from me and logistically it doesn’t make sense. I have multiple Polaris and SKIDOO dealers with 20 minutes in comparison.
Yamaha Fan Boy here. Obviously sad days for Yamaha faithful. Like you, I just can’t get into the Doos. Congrats on winning the sled! I have an entry in the NHSA raffle. I think the have the same sled in that too. As far as future sleds, we have a ‘22 Sidewinder, ‘23 Transporter Lite, ‘12 Vector, and a ‘92 Phazer 2. Love em all but I’d really be interested in trying out the new Cat Catalyst. Hope they do well with it.
I wasn’t shocked but disappointed when Yamaha announced their exit. They made some amazing sleds. My Buddy Mike has a 15 Viper XTX 146” and he absolutely loves it. Good luck on the raffle and hope for snow!
@@StreetersGarage Agreed, wasn’t shocked by their exit either. It’s a shame they didn’t put more resources into R & D because they could have really brought some more innovation into the sport but they are such a big company that snowmobiles were a dying market. With Global warming, low sales, and ultimately the Russian attack on Ukraine was the last straw. Russian market was pretty lucrative for them in the utility market.
Congrats you lucky bugger. Sled isn’t the fastest at the top, but it gets there quick. You put the right rider on that and no one will catch you in the trail. Corey upgraded his seat and all shocks to x package shocks and makes a huge difference. You will blow out those stock pogos fast regular riding. But you plan is spot on. That would nee rmotion and etec to be a keeper. You know Polaris so wise to stay with that brand and treat yourself to an upgrade.
Completely agree. The more we thought about, it would be going backwards especially not having the R-Motion in it. I listed it and in less than 24 hours it was sold and headed up to Maine.
I know it feels weird, but what you won was an opportunity. The snowmobile club had a successful fundraiser, so they won. You obtained something of value that you can use to get a sled that's right for you. So, you won, too. Someone else will buy the 600 EFI and it will be perfect for them... they win. Everybody wins.
@@StreetersGarage Mother Nature has been teasing us in Northern MN, and I'm still waiting to find out. Fit and finish is really good. We were the first ones to ride the preproduction sleds last January and they were impressive. I'm sure the finished product is going to be an excellent machine this winter, once the snow starts flying. My local Polaris dealer has a good deal on a 2021 VR1 650 with the 7S display. If I hadn't bought the Catalyst, I think that one would be calling my name. After the low inventory for the last few years, this might be an excellent time for you to upgrade - new or used.
Ok. I wasn’t sure. I watched the video on it a couple of weeks ago and didn’t know if you were able to sneak it out yet. Everyone seems to love the 650’s. The dealers have a ton of leftover 2022 and 2023 850’s. Not too many 650’s though.
Same here. I’ve owned Yamaha, Cat and Ski-Doo. There’s not a perfect sled out there. Every MFG tries there best in attempt to satisfy a wide consumer base. At this point, with how the winters have been. I’m happy that we still have 3 MFG’s in North America committed to the sport.
Congrats. Karma?? You probably had good luck with your 2015 Polaris. But Polaris has been struggling the most of all the OEMs with delivering a quality product for the last 3+ years. Not only recalls but a host of other issues that will ruin your weekend. Be careful what you wish for.
Yes. Polaris has definitely had their struggles in the past couple of years. My Axys has been rock solid for me. Even thought it has close to 8k miles. I have zero hesitation with in taking it for a ride.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! you've helped so many people like me! you deserve it!!!
Thanks. Good point. 🤣

You are gonna want to change that seat out for a regular gen4 trail performance seat
Already sold it.

@motoshark5847 Good point on the Russian side affecting that side of the business.

Tom thats a great beginner sled for someone getting into snowmobiling
Absolutely. Couldn’t agree more.
