- Today I'm going to review my airsoft SIG MCX Virtus . This MCX has caused me so much trouble whenever I go out to play airsoft with it. Hopefully after fixing this thing, it'll become usable. But let's review it first.

Been on the fence with this replica, and glad I'm finally coming across honest reviews with this. Thanks for the great info, saved me some $$$. Maybe a pickup when I'm ready for a new full build.
Good video about your experiences but it's very misleading with the title saying it sucks. I feel like titling the video "My bad experiences with the MCX" would make more sense without invalidating people like me who've had great experiences with this gun. It's nice to see the negative side to my gun so I know what to look out for but I don't think the stories you told in this video have direct correlation.
"Hey this gun sucks because I keep using my barrel instead of my handguard to mount on barricades and it bent. It also sucks bc I changed the internals right out of the box but now that I put in the gearbox it was designed for it works good again. It sucks because of the stock it came with. I can't believe a PDW stock came with this PDW. This gun is awesome because it comes with licensed SIG parts but it also sucks bc the SIG grip got smokey.

Great info. I’ve watched 4 videos about this sig virtus and they all commonly mentioned the same issues. Looks great, but imo I’d rather spend money in a more reliable aeg out of the box. Can’t wait to get my scorpion evo atek1

I actually got it I can have a great cqb gun I gonna put upgrades in it to make it I guess more reliable, I’m also gonna put a shorter barrel on it to so together it gonna be like 2 to 3 feet long if I keep the stock shorten, it gonna be the first gun I’m gonna build
But it's soo cool
Mines a beast! Upgraded inner barrel, changed the battery position for easier access, I used a zip tie to hold the floating barrel. Super easy spring change. It's heavy, a little rickety, but it really shoots hard and accurate. It's a very good airsoft AEG weapon. Of course it needs a few tweaks, but that's half the fun and they are cheap ez fixes.
And…it looks cool.

I fully agree with you i’ve done the zip tie aswell worked allot. I haven’t changed anything internally but i will soon. I think its a nice replica you dont see it often on the field. I will recommend this rifle only when you have money to buy it and to upgrade it!
awesome video! this was going to be my next purchase because it’s so damn good looking. but i’m unsure now. i might just hpa it if i stil decide to get it
It's worth it because its so cool. Just get a reinforced gearbox and gucci parts if you plan to upgrade it. Also, I have some new gameplay of it runningbasically stock (After fixing this) and it's been good to me!
Thanks for making this video, I'm glad you discussed the issues of this replica as I was considering to buy it but now that I've seen what its issues are and considering the asking price here in Europe and an additional 500 euro's to get it functioning optimal, no thanks, definitely not worth the hassle.

just got the gun from a friend and it literally did not have the fuse which it needs to connect to the battery. anyone have an idea if its even possible to get a replacement fuse or am I quite possibly screwed
Had mine for over a year. The VFC internals finally reared their ugly head and I’ve replaced the crappy VFC gears with much better gears. Shooting like a dream again and the coolest looking airsoft rif that I own. I am waiting for the day that someone like Krytac or G&G make an unlicensed version that looks as close as it can look. Would be much better value for money
G&g would make a polymer version but thats not a bad thong and better internals :) i kinda wish thay would make a g2 mcx

Something with an ETU! A G&G CM series have good trigger response!

Picked up the MCX to use as a training weapon since ammo is expensive. We get issued Block 1s at work but I shoot my real Virtus more often.

I love my mcx virtus in 556 and my mcx virtus in 300 blk but I wouldn’t mind getting an airsoft version haha
Run it stock, once something internally failed, like a tapet plate broke, or strip gears/piston. I'll build every upgrade parts, and do the job once, shim it, mosfet, raidus the gb, heck maybe get a aftermarket gb too. Right know mine is still stock. But the day it shit itself, I'm going all out. Maybe a high-speed build or a balanced build.
Where I'm from, we don't have FPS limit. So 400+ with .25g to .32g is where the spot. But great video pointing out about the barrel nut and the other front end issue. I'm drop this rifle once. Semi hard on concrete. Only thing I've notice was a scratch on the rail and that's about it. No cracks.
Though another issue to point out is, since the whole stock isn't bolted through the receiver and gearbox like a traditional M4. There's a chance if you drop this hard enough. You can crack the rear of the lower like any VFC/Krytac. Actually almost any m4. But that's just something to point out. :')
They make shallow QD mounts that you can use in the back of the receiver.

I have 4 Avalon gearboxes running DSGs with over 300K cycles combined. Literally every part inside the gearbox is junk though, it all needs to be replaced. There is no reason you could not run a DSG in it. Just have to change tappet, both heads, piston, gears, nozzle, 28TPA motor, ARL, ETU, spring. I use a M160 spring and get 360FPS. You would have to run it 7 tooth and not 8 tooth to get to .98 joules. That would definitely not damage the gearbox shell. You would also need a Titan/Perun as it is the only ETU that counts teeth for cycle detection vs cam lobes on the sector gear. I say 28TPA motor because the limited battery space you have. You need the least amp draw possible.
Soooo change everything haha. Mine was DSGd but still utilized stock parts.
I still have and it works. After a year I upgraded and turned it into a indoor sleeper gun. Yeah that barrel nut is really flimsy.

I have owned 2 of them, the first one I got internally was terrible. It wasn't accurate, it would double feed, the gearbox would jam it was horrible. Then I got another because I thought maybe the first one was a fluke. Nope, had same internal issues. Then getting the flashider off was an absolute nightmare! I dont have a torch or a vice so I had to grind it off and get a new outer barrel. Then after that it did what you mentioned, wobbled and it was just never the same. This gun is absolute horrible for the price imo. Magazines were horrible. Even my EPM would fall out sometimes.

What I did was more radical, I bought a polarstar Fusion so end of problems

@@MaydaysanAirsoft when i bought my mcx first hand from web, the selecter didnt come with a ball bearing so it was a loose end XD but someone fixed the wiring so the magazine did fit in very well. the gun it self was over greased. other than that i run custom buiild with dsg and perun v2 hybrid without a matching motor lol

@@MaydaysanAirsoft yeah, i usually run 7.4 cuz i dont wanna buy extra battery, besides i run it with INAZUMA motor from airsoft97. it bairly runs semi-auto with it so im thinking about buying the brushless motor since lots of people saying it runs perfectly with the perun v2 hybrid. By the way, right now except mcx im also using CAT which originally design and manufactor by Airsoft 97
Dsg is a double edged sword. A single sector which was put in mine and hasn't broke yet. Let stress is put on the gearbox. So basically do not dsg a mcx. Stick with single sector or just use 13.1 or 12.1 short stroked. I wish I could have warned you about it 2 years ago.

Oh man.. I dunno if I'd dare to laugh.. (too damn serious of an issue) ..but I still am a Sig fan no matter what.
I have many Sig Sauer airguns - but not any Sig airsoft guns (I do not count my KWC manufactured Sigs as real licensed Sigs here), yet. But after all these years of having to fix all of my Sig airguns - I then find out that this AEG airsoft Sig did not get any better chances of being awesome (as a stock product anyways). I do own a Sig Sauer Virtus .22 PCP pellet rifle - and I therefore also got curious of the AEG version.. But it's probably I let it be and just stick to my Sig pellet airguns instead..

@@MaydaysanAirsoft Yup. Them Sigs need their fixing before being all good.. I've had my Virtus PCP airgun more times apart than actually on the range with it - but itbis now way better than as new and original. Them Sigs need some love too.😁

Another problem I had experienced on my friend's MCX is that the battery wire or battery itself is very vulnerable to snagging on the handguard. There are times when we had to use a rubber mallet to knock off the handguard because it was stuck. The both of us couldn't even yank it off with a shirt wrapped around it. VFC did a terrible job with the design and securing of the wires.
I really love to get a MCX one day but I will not buy it from SigAir/VFC. Far too many problems for its price tag and a bit unreliable for overnight Milsim events. I'm hoping some manufacturer will release a GBBR version.

Yea I don't know bro. These all sound like avoidable problems? You start off with the flash hider catching on things - so change it out?! I'm willing to bet your gearbox is completely misaligned because of that grip. Warping gearbox? you serious?? The Avalons are prone to breaking but this is because they aren't properly radiused. They'll snap before warping - first upgrades should be sorbo pad & correction of AOE. The only gearbox you should consider is the RetroArms cnc vfc specific. Although you do lose the ability for QD spring change unless you're crafty. Front wired guns with streamline handguards like this 100% benefit from a PEQ - there is no way around it - rule of thumb when purchasing. The grip is where I'm looking at as the failure point. Sure the motor alignment could be workable and turn the gears but its the screws inside after being tightened that will cause a world of problems - such as feeding & airseal. This is all due to seating of the gearbox. I'd suggest putting the original motor & pistol grip back on and working around them. Compare your aftermarket motor to the original in dimensions - although its the internal structure and amount of material inside the grip that matter most. Funny enough - i ran into VERY similar issues with Dytac brand AEGs at one point in time.

@@MaydaysanAirsoft so if you bump the handguard, it will cause a shift in accuracy due to the barrel nut being reinforced but when you reinforce the barrel nut you won't have access to disassemble it anymore? What are the reasons why one would need to disassemble and reassemble? Please lmk asap before I buy one thanks
