As a current student studying Marine bio, im really happy that these fish were cared for so well, and that you cared about them so much. You've made all of the correct decisions and I am hopeful that you will have great success with your new fish! Good luck!
This is so incredibly sad. But this does show all of us that no matter how careful you are, anything can still happen. I really feel for you, and I hope you can find the strength to move on in this hobby and start all over again. On the bright side, you do have this awesome new and sterile fishroom to rock it! I wish you the best of luck!
Hang in there. I have been through something similar. I was losing fish, went from 15 to 4 in a very short amount of time, and I was trying everything to save them. It turned out to be my tap water. I got it tested and it contained a chemical from algae that while not harmful to humans, it is deadly to fish. I contacted my town's local water district, but got no where. I almost gave up on the hobby. I just felt totally defeated. I seriously considered just quitting. I didn't though. Ultimately I had to just get a whole home water filter system that I could hook my Python hose up to. It has 3 filters, with the last one being a carbon and resin block to pull out the toxin. It worked, and I was not only able to save my last 4 fish, but eventually, I got new fish, and now have happy, healthy fish again. Just know you are not alone, we all have things happen, no matter how careful we are. I had been in the hobby 20 years before my catastrophe happened, but it happened, and watching your videos, along with others, helped me realize, that sometimes things just happen in the hobby, and you can't let it beat you. Thank you for sharing your story. I know how hard it has been for you to talk about it.
Sly Bulldog I recently (month or so ago) lost all my goldfish due to a cycle crash. I still had other fish but I said no more goldies for awhile. The other day I took a peek at petsmart and fell head over heals for a stunning oranda (i think the very educated employee who helped me was even a little surprised at that quality of a fish being in petsmart) and i brought the fish home.
I'm so so so sorry for your losses and I hope cross-contamination hasn't doomed your discus. I have to say though, your pained expressions and your obvious stifling of tears really hurt my heart. However, I find it so amazing and strong of you to sit down in front of a camera and calmly explain a shitty situation to thousands of people online. You expressed your sadness, anger, and frustration but you did not let that ruin your content or prevent you from providing a nicely conveyed video. I'm very sorry for your loss as a more recent subscriber and it hurts so much seeing you go through this, as I've been through similar situations with fish and other animals I've kept. I truly have to thank you though for still being able to provide quality content, as calmly explaining the situation and walking your viewers through what happened was EXTREMELY professional of you. There are rarely times when I'm impressed by a youtuber's character and you've truly impressed me. You are a wonderful person and I wish you luck with your future fish.
Really sorry to hear about everything. You did the right thing. I'm actually finishing up a Master's Cert in Aquaculture and Fish Health through UF and they have world-class faculty there. Hang in there
I am so sorry for your massive loss Jen - I can't even imagine how devastating it must have been. I wish there could have been a better outcome for you and your aquatic babies.
Jenny don't give up, and it sounds like you're not. I came back to RUclips early 2017 and in the shadows I set my 125 planted tank back up, something got me too, I tried putting different types of fish in there, tried every option and exsasuted every resource, finally I drained it removed everything, and I'm in a parking lot right now after buying new filtration for it. I know it sucks and it takes the energy out of you, sometimes you gotta take a breather like I did, but your still pushing through which takes a lot. Good luck, it rains on the just and in just, better tanking days are ahead of you !!
I have kept fish for over 50 years and never experienced such an overwhelming problem. I am convinced it's a water born issue, if the incoming water is contaminated, you stand no chance of eradication.
When I get new fish I have a huge bucket and I pour all the fish and water of the bag through a big net that catches them and none of the water from their bag goes into the aquarium.
@@FringeWizard2 OK but that won't help if one of them is carrying an internal parasite. I think the guy above meant that the problem might be in the tap water. Tap water does contain organisms within it. That's why it's advised not to drink the tap water when you go abroad. It's not that their water is filtered / treated any less effectively, it's because they have different micro-organisms.
I feel sorrow for what's happened to you. I could tell how heartbroken you were as you spoke, especially near the end of the video. Perhaps this is a calling to start anew, almost like a reset button. I only own one goldfish, my greenish-silver Loafy (she's a fantail goldfish I've had since Sep 9th, 2016, and she's only alive in a fifteen gallon tank because of your excellent instructional videos) but I know that loosing pets isn't something to celebrate. I'm not good at leaving encouraging comments like this.. but maybe you'll see this, I have no idea. But I just hope your new fishies are able to live happy and full lives, that you're able to share new experiences with them, and that I'll be able to see how adorable they are when you show them to us! Your a great goldfish keeper, and you've probably saved my goldfish's life because I happened to stumble across one of your videos. Blub blub
I once lost a tank of 10 goldfish within a few days and it was so devastating that I never got goldfish again. I can only imagine how terrible this is for you. Stay strong and keep going! I'm glad you decided to get more and I'm sure you'll have better luck with the next batch.
I've been waiting for thus! Love your videos your an amazing insperation! Keep strong you have helped me sooooo much with so many things without even knowing it! Thankyou for being strong STAY GOLD! 💛💛💛
I am gutted watching this. Jennie, I'm so sorry for your loss. While you already know that this was not your fault, and that you did everything in your power to fix the issue, it doesn't ease the pain of losing the tiny little souls that become so close to one's heart. I am glad to hear that you are choosing to continue to pursue the hobby and make videos, and look forward to your updates. You are more than the sum of your goldfish. You are kind, brilliantly smart, and full of compassion. Any animal in your care has Won. The. Lottery. Wishing you strength and peace during your mourning.
Like you said, sometimes things are unavoidable. I'm sure you will have healthy, beautiful goldfish again and your new fish room is beautiful. At least your fish died in peace and not in a dirty, overcrowded chain pet store tank.
You have tried to use a UV filter. I have 1 installed in a tank of 400 liters and connected 24 hours every day and I have no problem with parasites and diseases.
I've been watching your videos forever, and have been following this story since it started in may and every video has been hard to watch since then. That being said, it must be alot harder for you to make these videos, especially since every single goldfish is like your baby. Thanks for keeping us updated even though it must've been and must still be very difficult. Stay Strong!
Hi Jenny, so sorry to find out about your goldfish. You are a wonderful inspiration to the rest of us with how well you care for all of your critters. I am on the last few of my fish that I have been keeping for about thirty years. Over population and no time for proper water changes led to incurable columnaris for us and I'm just waiting for the last few to pass, then I'm calling it quits. It will be too hard to get any remaining pathogens out of all my hardware and I just can't go through this heartache anymore. I don't know how you handle it, you are amazing. I haven't been able to bring myself to break down the smallest empty tank yet, everything is still running in it, and I don't know how I'm going to handle it when the rest go. I can't imaging my place without the soothing sounds of a fish tank. I love watching your posts, you voice is very calming, totally the opposite of my crazy life. I wish you luck with getting your fish family going again! Thank you for not giving up! I almost forgot to ask you, I noticed that you were using some plastic type containers. Is there any way that there could have been toxins leached from the materials? I'm grasping at straws here, you know, maybe looking for a different angle.
It breaks my heart 💔 each time this video comes around. The pain and sadness in your voice and on your face makes me want to give you a hug. I know you did the best for your fish and they had a great life with you but sometimes life just gets out of our control. All my hopes and prayers for you in this and any other speedbump that gets slammed at you now and in the future. Be strong sweet girl 💙🙏🤗
Jenny, I'm really sorry for this outcome. I think I would be right to say that all of us who watch your videos were hoping for a definite answer and that it would be something you could easily deal with. I could tell this was a hard video for you. I almost cried just watching you trying not to cry. Thank you so much for sharing the results with us and being honest about what happened. For those of us who are new to the hobby especially, it's important to know that things like this can happen even to best of us.
I've been to hell and back with fish loss over the years as well I feel your pain. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with your water supply? I know someone that was on well water that thought they had perfect water but it had parasites in it that affected his fish like yours....
The longer we have waited, the more I have feared this was the update that was coming. I am glad that you are strong and humble enough to share this major setback with your viewers. A lot of 'pet bloggers' won't share their mistakes made or the random catastrophes that can happen to anyone, and I feel a little bit like it sets the people who rely on them for information up for failure (or at least feeling like a failure). I am so sorry for all you've lost, and I hope the new fish and projects ahead of you bring you a lot of happiness and excitement.
I saw the title and was hopeful..I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful fish Jennie. Even when it came to making the toughest of decisions for your fish, your level of care was exemplary and I admire your strength to share your story with the fishkeeping community. Best wishes, stay Gold!
So sorry Jen about the lost and the helplessness u have felt over ur beloved fish. Been following u for a year or so now and I have to thank you so much for making the hard to make videos, about ur sick fish. It brakes my heart to see someone lose a pet and for someone to go to the lengths u have to save then is amazing and inspiring. Much love honey. Thinking of u in this hard time and wishing u all the best. PS fish room looks amazing can't wait to see it full of life in the near future.
At around 15 mins I got a little scared I thought you’d give up or something and in my mind im like nooooo, but in the end good thing you still plan to continue. I love this channel and just keep being strong and I hope things get better soon :*
So so sorry, please don't let this keep you down. I enjoy your videos and so do a lot of people. Take a minute to recoup and then come back to us. Such a terrible thing, You will be stronger for it.
I wish there was a not like but not a dislike. I liked the video because I know it helps RUclips wise. But things suck. I'm sorry for you and wish I could help. Losing loved ones is never easy. Keep your head up and look forward to any and all future content from you!
Hi Jennie,I can't even imagine how hard it has been for you to lose all your fish and especially something you are so incredibly passionate about. I am so sorry. Watching this and all of the updates in the past has made me wonder if you've reached out to your water company to see their latest quality report? I think you can also request to have them come out and do a full test of your water. I grew up in Florida and know full well water quality is not particularly the state's biggest triumph. I wish you the very best for your new fish in the future and I've learned so, so much from you!
Big City Bettas It was the symptom caused by an infectious bacteria in the tank, that wouldn't respond to treatment. I just used the shorthand, as she had said that exact sentance in the video
So sorry for the lost of your babies. This video made me cry while watching it so I know that it must have been really hard to talk about. Stay strong.
Hi Jenny! I’m located in Winter Springs, FL and I’ve been following your channel since before you moved to Florida. Please keep making videos! Whether it’s videos regarding other pets, other fish, or remodeling or whatever! Just know, we love your videos! Fish keeping can be tough, and everything you’ve been through is mind-boggling. However, we fully FULLY look forward to new fish and new adventures you embark on. Stay strong!
I missed Clyde so much that I had a funeral for him at recess I'm only 11 so I still have school I know most people who watch this channel are out of school
I’m so sorry Jenni, this is something that I don’t know if I would’ve been able to handle. Such a difficult thing to go through, and such a heart breaking conclusion. I hope you have a bright future with healthy, happy fish! I know you can get through this and continue your fish keeping successfully with perseverance and dedication! Wishing you the best❤️
Hey Jennie I had the exact same issue but I managed to catch it fairly quick and I did 100% water change got new living plants and I use substrate so new substrate and cleaned the sides of the aquarium then waited a couple days then refilled the tank with water and (declorinator) and tested the water then put my orandas back in and they have been fine for 5 months!
So incredibly heartbreaking. Thanks so much for having the strength to even make this video and share it. Looking forward to seeing Ken and then new fish you pick up. Very brave of you to keep going, because I know deep down you probably don't even want to. Thanks again for all you do, it really is appreciated.
How is the one who is alive doing? Also i am so sorry about what happend to you and your fish. You are amazing at keeping fish and you did everything you could. Even though those fish have passed they are luckier than %90 of fish because they went to someone who would do everything she can to have them happy and healthy
First of all, I'm so sorry for your lose :'( You know, I never make comments, not even in fb pages, but this time allow me to say something. Recently I started with this hobbie, and in my country it's quite hard to find some guidance or at least common sense about taking care of fishes. As in many places, it's just about the money. Without knowing too much about it I jumped into this hobbie and sooner rather than later I discovered that I wasn't ready for it, yet I made my best effort to do it the best way possible. Thanks to you, and all the effort of other bloggers/youtubers I could expand my knowledge almost immediately. Thanks to that effort, probably my fish are alive, and I dare to say they will have a better quality of life. Thanks to you my fishes will be happier! and so am I. Hopefully, this work and passion that you have for it will keep helping others. I know this is a small or not at all a consolation but I just wanted to share it with you. Receive a strong and warm hug from México.
Jezus Jenny. I put off watching this one because I had a bad feeling where this was going. I've had the same 3 piggies (fancy goldfish) for about 10 years. 1 of them started in a 2-gallon tank, then 2 in the 10 gallon. I moved to a 29 and had 3. Then finally the 3 piggies are in a 55 gallon with 2 huge canister filters. Watching you for so long has helped me be a much better caregiver and has even helped me cure one them who got sick. Never stop this channel. Solid Gold has always been about goldfish. I can't even call this a hobby because each and every Goldfish is unique. They are our close friends. Keep going, Keep teaching, Keep learning and sharing all of it with us. #LLAP
The parasite sounds like the bubonic plague of goldfish. May I ask what you do with your fish after they have died? Do you have a little cemetery for them?
She's said in a previous video that she generally bags them and puts them in the trash, that way they can't spread pathogens or parasites to the environment.
I am so sorry to hear that this is the final result. I have been watching your journey for many years, and this has definitely been the most devastating moment. Even with my many years experience in this hobby, I can't even begin to fathom the sadness, loss, and anger you are feeling. I really do hope... that you stay in this hobby and that you never have to go through this again. I am.... speechless. I don't know what to say.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I wish something I could say would help your pain. You have deeply inspired me to advance my fishkeeping of goldfish to breeding and I have been successfully raising my first spawn since Feb. I continue to be inspired by you and learn from you. Thank you so much for sharing and giving inspiration and confidence to this challenging yet rewarding hobby.
Sorry I can't remember it's been that long. But I wasn't referring to pulling out a master test kit. I meant actually do some extensive testing on the water
I am so sorry. I have been watching your channel for years. You’ve had so many bumps in the road, and as terrible as this one is, you’ll get through it and be a better fish keeper because of it. Keep staying strong, girl!
Since Florida has hard to very hard water, the water may have had high bicarbonate levels that affect kidney functions and result in calciferous deposits in the kidneys and other organs.
Jenny honey I am so, so sorry for your loss. You did the best you could with the resources you have, even going as far as the difficult step of sending fish away for lab testing. You love your fish so much and it breaks my heart to see you suffering like this. I hope that when you've been able to deal with the grief of losing all your goldies, you will be able to feel the joy of this hobby once more. I'm glad to hear that you'll be continuing with goldfish - your love for them made you my favorite aquarist on RUclips.
fish might be more sensitive in the sense of chemical like plastic... a lot of the time fish can die easily in newer plastic pools, plastic tank.... maybe they feel dizzy as well...
Love love your channel and compassion but speaking of plastic....did u ever consider your nails? If they are acrilic u put them in th tank right??? I had 2 quit having mine done because they were toxic to me.i cant EMAGINE w they might b 2 fish... Just a thought... Soooo verry sorry 4 ur loss.just please check into th chemicals that are in artifical nails 🌻
Sad to hear about your goldfish, certainly was hard for you to make this video, but thanks for sharing your triumphs and tragedies, we live and learn. Better luck ahead.
Are you on a well? You need to check your water get a real estate agent to refer an environment specialist and get that water checked Sometimes you need to use lots of Clorox and wipe out your well because sometimes coliform bacteria can leech into your well especially since you do your water changes
Donna Kate Morgan I also think it's something in the water. There's so many medications and pesticides that leech into the ground water that it's hard to tell.
I don't know why her fish get sick since she takes good care of them, I have mine on a pond outside and they have never got sick , the majority have 2+ years, I do water changes but once a week or two if it rains a lot.
Thank you for sharing all the details and explaining what was found. It looks like it has been hard on you for a long time. I’ve taken special interest in these videos because one of my goldfish has been acting like it is developing a swim bladder issue. Initially, I thought it was diet related but have come to realize it may be internal. He can’t swim to the bottom to graze anymore but he gives it a try whenever I’m looking. In the last couple days I’ve observed him resting in a corner at the surface. He’s still really energetic and has a huge appetite but I’m concerned. Being out of an English speaking country and in a rural area, finding a qualified care is going to be hard. I only say that to say I understand your pain, though to a much lesser degree. I’m sorry for your loss and to hear about the ongoing issues with your discus. I look foreword in hope to your upcoming Dandy Oranda trip and seeing what beautiful creatures you find.
Wouldn't the only common denominator between the goldfish and discus tanks surely has to be the water ? ( as i doubt you are feeding the same thing ) , i know you probably test the water regularly but what about on a microscopic level as with the testing you had done on the fish.Either that or its something that you yourself/partner is introducing in to the tanks not turning all CSi but where and what do you touch for work etc
sorry to hear about all your struggles.. I've never commented on any of your vids, but have watched many. You are part of the reason I as a lifelong fish guy have built my own fish room. Keep on keeping on!
Are you sure it's not something in the water? I'm so sorry this has happened. Happened to me too. But it might be a pathogen in the water that's evaded detection and doesn't affect us. I guess if this happens again you'll know if it's something in the environment and/or the water. I'm again so sorry that this is happened. I know that to most people they're "just fish," but to us they are family. We provide everything for them down to the very oxygen they breathe. We watch them grow, and help them through hard times; as their presence helps us too. I hope that your next fishies live long, happy lives and that this doesn't happen again.
My heart goes out to you. I was actually afraid to watch this. Never, never give up. You will get through this because you are the best. My son and I have had fish, especially gold fish, for more than forty years. I am so pleased to hear you are going to keep goin' on.
Hi! 2 suggestions since you are in the state of Florida like I'am ! 1. Water quality: Specially the Tap water you use for your fish, and 2. Have the frozen blood worm and or any live black worms you feed your fish with; test in a Lab! I'm a retire aquarium service person and also use to breed, import and export all king of live tropical fish, Fresh and saltwater ! Did breed goldfish and cichlids in the 80's when I was living in Fort Lauderdale , and back then experience something similar to your problem! Also back then I have Issues with the water quality from Tap water from the city I mention before. As of your Discus is concern, did you increase the Temperature to 89f ? Hope your beautiful fish get better and you find the solution soon ! Sincerely your subscriber
Read the title and got sad. Thought there would have been some light at the end of this long tunnel but i guess you just got the worst of the worst. Sorry for you losses, dont put yourself down too much, you did everything you could have done. Can't believe you didn't cry in this video, such a sad event. Stay strong and stay gold!
Sorry to hear about the loss of your collection. That's a tough way to learn about the importance of strict quarantine procedures. I see other well known RUclips aquarium hobbyists being pretty careless with their fish, as far introducing new stock into their fish room. Ideally, new arrivals should be kept in a separate room, with their own set of tools and cleaning area. Even foot baths, gloves. I would suggest not working with new arrivals the same day as the main collection, having changed clothes and showered.
Jennifer, your love for your fish is palpable. You have made me aware that no mater how careful things can go wrong. Thank you. I am sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss. I found your videos after looking up tips for set up a tiny (5 gal) hobby tank for our family (of course we're not doing goldfish), but when I was your age I was very, very into guppies and had a friend who had half her apartment dedicated to her bettas. We never really rose above hobbists, but I do know that every lost fish is painful. I eventually had to shut down my tanks because of a cross-country move, and so this is the first tank I've set up in over a decade, and we're taking it VERY slowly. Even if you can see the cause and are doing your best, sometimes fish just don't respond to treatment, or the damage has already been done. From the love and care you show for your fish in the video, I know you were the best fish-mama possible, and I hope you do try again. My heart breaks for you, and all your gorgeous lost fish.
An UV-C sterilizer will reduce bacteria load by inhibiting their replication. It will affect amoebia and cyano bacteria (algae). I have permanetly used a small internal filter with uv-c LED in the outlet. It will only affect floating bacteria, so the bio-filtration isn't harmed.
Did you have your water analysed? Perhaps there was some sort of trace element in the water that you weren't aware of damaging their kidneys? I recall my grandfather telling me that there was an issue in birmingham back in the 60's where it was found there was a lot of cyanide in the water? Just a thought... High levels of Radon in drinking water has been linked to kidney cancer?
Sorry this is happening. It really sucks to see this happening to someone who cares so much about this hobby. I know it couldn’t be prevented, but what you have gone through is making me take a serious look at my own quarantine practices.
Oh no, so sorry to hear :( Have you considered having a look at your water under your microscope? Methylene blue stains many amoeba and protozoa... apologies if you have an amazing filtration system that would deal with this, relatively new to channel, I just have this vague recollection that you moved house this year and maybe the new water supply is different?
If it is amoeba, that might be visible in the water from the tank on a wet mount on a scope. That would also possibly show the presence of a swimming phase of a parasite
Sorry to see you in so much pain. Losing a pet is heart breaking but so many at once is just crushing. Good luck to you. Life is an adventure and we are in it with you.
HMMM, this makes me wonder if perhaps something could have come in on something other than new fish. Are you on well water or city water? How are the axolotl doing? Probably doesn't make any difference if they are doing well because they could be resistant to the infection but carry it anyway? Same thing could hold true for any amphibian since it does have a water cycle (tadpole or newt)? In any case, I feel for you and don't envy what you are going to have to go through. Not just the loss of the fish but all the work you are going to have to do to sterilize everything and I do mean everything before you use it again, even if it has set dried. I've been through this before and it took several attempts at restarting before I was able to succeed. But hang in there. I'm sure you'll make it.
Hey there Solid Gold, I suggest that over the next month, you contact the U of Florida and see if they will agree to an interview. You could ask them about how they got involved in their research and their views on fishkeeping.
I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through this :( I have never seen amoeba at work on fish but have witnessed it with reptiles and it’s absolutely vile and can wipe them out very quickly so I can imagine in fish tanks it’s absolutely devastating. With reptiles they just suddenly stop eating get lethargic and die, often within a week or two after noticing that they refuse to eat so you rarely have time to even try to do anything for them and it can be quite shocking and can leave one feeling confused and empty after such a sudden loss even if it’s not on the scale of what you’ve been dealing with. I am however glad that you haven’t given up as your videos are the best source for people wanting to learn about goldfish care. Someone gave my son 3 comets recently and had it not been for your videos I wouldn’t have known what to do at the start, so just know that the work you put into it is very much appreciated and is probably helping to keep people from inadvertently killing their fish out of ignorance.
So how do you move on with your tank maintenance after an outbreak 😷 like this? Can you reuse the tank filter and tank decorations? What’s a good way to prevent breakouts and to sanitize you tanks?
I had been noticing your fish room updates had been in a different energy and that you hadn't talked about your goldfish in a while. I had the slightest suspicion but thought "no, Ray. Not possible". I'm so sorry :(
We are all supporting you! Don't give up this stuff happens all the time as you said. Even though you got a rare spreading of dropsy and the odds weren't in your favor we will wait for you to recover over your emotional recovery.😞🐶💐🌹
So sorry to here this news. I hope everything works our in the end. I know your not looking for anymore suggestions but I'd definitely be putting in some kind of water filtration system in before starting all your new tanks. And possibly a uv sterilizer :)
So sorrry about the fish! I've been following you for so long and I know how much each of these fish meant to you. I hope you can overcome this loss and move forward with all the great work you do.
Solid Gold Aquatics definitely. Fish illnesses typically don’t get to me but I always cringe at dropsy. The fact that it’s a pretty slow and probably painful death makes it worse
Unfortunately I think not QT properly or becoming complacent is something that happens to most if not all long term hobbyists at some point, I gave up fancy goldfish in the early 1990s after the exact same thing happened to me from not QT. You would think 25 years later I’d remember the lesson but I got complacent and wiped out a marine tank due to velvet from contamination on a coral, everything and anything wet is a potential risk! I love this honest video, it has such a important message and lesson and I adore your passion and concern you shown. Im getting back into Fancy’s myself after a long absence and your advice is solid gold! Xxxx
My true passion is for animals of all kinds. Always has been. I've decided to stop limiting myself to one thing and allow myself to share my other interests as well.
this is the saddest thing we could have heard :( thinking of you and your loss. we know you did absolutely everything you could, and I don't think there could be any real or credible doubt in your competence, compassion, expertise, or love for your animals. stay gold, and keep your chin up Jenny!
I'm so sorry for all of your losses. I can truly sympathize with you. I foster puppies for a rescue organization and we ended up with Parvo in our home. In the end we only had 4 out of 13 of our beautiful German Shepherd/Husky puppies and Dalmatian/Lab mixes survive. I completely get how you feel you have lost a part of yourself. We also had twenty newborns (they survived since we were SO careful not to expose them, but they were put in a safe home)and within 2-3 weeks we were down to only our two dogs. Fortunately this wasn't dragged out nearly as long as your experience, but this was devastating. They were 7 & 8 weeks old when they were exposed and pretty much all of them had homes to go to if they recovered. I was so attached to them, they were my babies as I know your Goldfish were to you.
Bloodworms breed in contaminated crap, that's why most Discus keepers wont feed live Bloodworms, it's just not worth the risk, but the freeze dried Bloodworm seem to be ok I think
I'm so sorry for all you've been through. Losing multiple fish over a sustained period is heartbreaking. I hope lots of nice things happen for you soon. 😊
Hi again ... for discus We increase the temperature from 86 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit from 30 to 31 degrees Celsius - Change a large amount of water before starting treatment - Magnesium sulphate or Ipsum salt is used for one suspension per 10 gallons of water and operates within 24 hours It is repeated for two days where it works to control digestion and regulate the digestive system of the thickness of the fullness and indigestion - Formalin or Malatite Green to eliminate external microscopy mainly external protozoan parasites, gill flukes, Costia, and Trichondina. I hope every thing will be fine ...thanks
Wow, so I wasn't quite expecting that. I'm sorry to hear how this turned out, but you most certainly did everything you could have done! For whatever it's worth, I have a tremendous amount of respect for you and the way you handled this... its clear that this isn't just a hobby for you, those fish couldn't have been in better hands!
This was a hard video to make. :(

Wow that's sad 😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭
So sorry Jenny. Can’t do anymore then you’ve done.
So sorry youre going through all of this. Dont give up!
As a current student studying Marine bio, im really happy that these fish were cared for so well, and that you cared about them so much. You've made all of the correct decisions and I am hopeful that you will have great success with your new fish! Good luck!
DelilahsMom100 any tips for dropsy?
DelilahsMom100 because my fish have dropsy
@@karlgaminde539 marine bio aren't a vet lol
This is so incredibly sad. But this does show all of us that no matter how careful you are, anything can still happen. I really feel for you, and I hope you can find the strength to move on in this hobby and start all over again. On the bright side, you do have this awesome new and sterile fishroom to rock it! I wish you the best of luck!
H.C. Aqua did you know that the uv light affects the amount of iron in the water so don't run it 24 7..... 18 hrs is enough
H.C. Aqua what???!?!!?!?!? Ofcourse its really sad :(
Fall down seven times....
Stand up eight.
Don't give up!
石田絹 stay strong Jenny!
I love that saying.
She gave up lol
Whats the name of the water filter you bought?
Hang in there
Oh no! I've been wondering if you had heard more from them yet. Saw the title and sighed a bit 💗💗
same my sigh was very heavy out of pity
You inspired me to get into goldfish keeping so don’t feel discouraged. The next group will be bigger and stronger then ever.
Allen Jones Sweet message...pony boy😁👍
Could the problem be in the local water supply. Hurricanes could have brought them in and city filter not filter it out.
So sorry for your loss, you tried your best.
I also had the same problem and unfortunately lost all my goldies. The tragedy almost got me to quit the hobby. Hopefully your goldies get well soon.
there ded?
I saw the title and was hopeful..I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful fish Jennie. Even when it came to making the toughest of decisions for your fish, your level of care was exemplary and I admire your strength to share your story with the fishkeeping community. Best wishes, stay Gold!
Sorry for your lost. Keep going strong we still need you!
I lost two bettas to dropsy within a month, i couldn't imagine losing so many fish at once
Liefien Fera Dropsy is a symptom, not a disease. Dropsy is a sign of kidney failure.
Could it be your water source?
Has that been considered?
How are you now maam?
So incredibly heartbreaking. Thanks so much for having the strength to even make this video and share it. Looking forward to seeing Ken and then new fish you pick up. Very brave of you to keep going, because I know deep down you probably don't even want to. Thanks again for all you do, it really is appreciated.
How is the one who is alive doing? Also i am so sorry about what happend to you and your fish. You are amazing at keeping fish and you did everything you could. Even though those fish have passed they are luckier than %90 of fish because they went to someone who would do everything she can to have them happy and healthy
Didn't he say she let the rest of her fish go? So she currently have zero goldfish left:O Or did I misunderstand that?
Receive a strong and warm hug from México.
on a lighter note, how's that baby pleco
Gavin Chen. I’m not the op but, my is gone pleco is gone 😩😩. Just disappeared from the tank.
Rachel J same with one of my plecos ☹️.
I feel your pain.
Jessie R it’s probably still there lol
Do you have a little cemetery for them?
salvagemania I'm also curious
She's said in a previous video that she generally bags them and puts them in the trash, that way they can't spread pathogens or parasites to the environment.
I am so sorry to hear that this is the final result. I have been watching your journey for many years, and this has definitely been the most devastating moment. Even with my many years experience in this hobby, I can't even begin to fathom the sadness, loss, and anger you are feeling. I really do hope... that you stay in this hobby and that you never have to go through this again. I am.... speechless. I don't know what to say.
Stay Gold, keep shining and never give up! You're doing an awesome job here :)
Jennie, is it possible there's something in your water? Any way you can have that tested?
russell10x the first thing she did was test the water.
Sorry I can't remember it's been that long. But I wasn't referring to pulling out a master test kit. I meant actually do some extensive testing on the water
That’s what I was wondering. Maybe there’s parasites being transferred in the water.
I wonder if there is a connection with the plastic pools youre using? Some plastics have been know to be toxic???
fish might be more sensitive in the sense of chemical like plastic... a lot of the time fish can die easily in newer plastic pools, plastic tank.... maybe they feel dizzy as well...
Howard Ferguson you mean Laguna tubs
You need to check your water get a real estate agent to refer an environment specialist and get that water checked
Sometimes you need to use lots of Clorox and wipe out your well because sometimes coliform bacteria can leech into your well especially since you do your water changes
Donna Kate Morgan I also think it's something in the water. There's so many medications and pesticides that leech into the ground water that it's hard to tell.
I agree
After hearing about your other fish I second the fact is may not be your fault but the water your using
If it's the water then she needs to go full Erin Brokovich and sue somebody lol
What about test your water you're using.
Would a UV sterilizer help?
william head yes but turn them off when treating with meds 🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠
An UV-C sterilizer will reduce bacteria load by inhibiting their replication. It will affect amoebia and cyano bacteria (algae). I have permanetly used a small internal filter with uv-c LED in the outlet. It will only affect floating bacteria, so the bio-filtration isn't harmed.
Jen, so sorry to hear everything. My heart goes out to you. Feel better and I hope your new fish bring you much joy. Thanks for the update.
So sorry to what happen to your babies. Hope you’ll get over this problem soon. I’m your number one fan. CHEER UP all goldfish goes to heaven.
So sorry to hear about the results. I wish you all the best with future goldfish ❤️
RO DI water?
Um I'm a bit sick so I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Srry for your losses
I feel for u :( i wonder if those fish u got from Japan brought it in or was it already in ur water system in ur new place
I didn't get any fish from Japan.
Piranha Fish how is reggie
So sorry to for your loss, Jennie. You are an asset to the hobby, I know you will come back better than ever!
I never want to deal with dropsy. Just looking at the raised scales makes me nauseous tbh. Think it’s the trypophobia 😂
It is unsettling to look at isn't it? Especially when you know how nefarious it is. :/
Solid Gold Aquatics definitely. Fish illnesses typically don’t get to me but I always cringe at dropsy. The fact that it’s a pretty slow and probably painful death makes it worse
Solid Gold Aquatics so sorry about your babies btw
Yeah, i love goldfish, but pearlscales creeps me out too. Sorry for your loss solid gold
Same here, i would be scared to touch them, yuck
Unfortunately I think not QT properly or becoming complacent is something that happens to most if not all long term hobbyists at some point, I gave up fancy goldfish in the early 1990s after the exact same thing happened to me from not QT. You would think 25 years later I’d remember the lesson but I got complacent and wiped out a marine tank due to velvet from contamination on a coral, everything and anything wet is a potential risk!
I love this honest video, it has such a important message and lesson and I adore your passion and concern you shown. Im getting back into Fancy’s myself after a long absence and your advice is solid gold! Xxxx
Keep it simple. You went tangent with axyos, discus, frogs, etc... what's next? Stick with your true passion GOLDFISH.
My true passion is for animals of all kinds. Always has been. I've decided to stop limiting myself to one thing and allow myself to share my other interests as well.
this is the saddest thing we could have heard :( thinking of you and your loss. we know you did absolutely everything you could, and I don't think there could be any real or credible doubt in your competence, compassion, expertise, or love for your animals. stay gold, and keep your chin up Jenny!
what happened to her jikins?
I wonder if the parasite could have come from the food?
nabenmike I've thought about that too... Or contaminated additives. 😔
Can Blood worms be contaminated
nabenmike I was thinking the same thing
Bloodworms breed in contaminated crap, that's why most Discus keepers wont feed live Bloodworms, it's just not worth the risk, but the freeze dried Bloodworm seem to be ok I think
I'm so sorry for all you've been through. Losing multiple fish over a sustained period is heartbreaking. I hope lots of nice things happen for you soon. 😊
Didn’t you say you used well water? That’s the perfect place to get naturally occurring parasites.
mark suson no.. Well water is super clean. Fl Aquaphor is known to have a 99.9% of purity.
As long as you use chlorine, you’ll be safe
No. That's not 100% true
mark, yeah, she had the fish dissected before checking the water.
So sorry for your loss. This whole situation is heartbreaking. They will all be missed.
Hi again ... for discus We increase the temperature from 86 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit from 30 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Change a large amount of water before starting treatment
- Magnesium sulphate or Ipsum salt is used for one suspension per 10 gallons of water and operates within 24 hours
It is repeated for two days where it works to control digestion and regulate the digestive system of the thickness of the fullness and indigestion
- Formalin or Malatite Green to eliminate external microscopy mainly
external protozoan parasites, gill flukes, Costia, and Trichondina.
