The Starry only prohibits photography, but he does not refuse anime pilgrimages. Please feel free to attend the live performance as a regular customer and Experience the actual Shimokitazawa band music. You will be able to see that Shimokitazawa and Shelter are not just filming locations, but also the places where Asian Kung Fu Generation, the band that influenced Kessoku-Band, spent their youth. I think you can get a deeper sense of the worldview of this anime.
Thank you for saying this! I do think there is bit of a cultural difference. For concerts in the west only flash photography is banned. It’s often ok to video tape entire sections of the concert in the US! But I know that Japan venues and bands have mixed feelings about photography, and it’s very hard for foreigners sometimes to tell if photography is allowed or not.
I went to go see a show and I think it must have been a pretty popular group that time since the line was like 150 people long, also all the fans were like probably 18-20 yo so I felt a little out of place and ended up ditching. then i walked around the corner and followed a group of rockabillies going somewhere, lost them and landed at a live house called Liveholic. Best thing I did. that place was awesome and the bands performing had an amazing stage presence, ended up meeting with the band as well and had drinks with them after the live. good times
Clickbaity title, IMO, you just can't go down to the sign during the day. The actual venue is still open to everyone at night and during concerts, I highly recommend it!
This is such a cool reminder that so many anime are set in very real locations. It’s easy to forget as someone who doesn’t know Japan, when in an animated show every location may as well be made up, so it’s really cool seeing that a team put effort into choosing actual real locations for their show. Thanks for showcasing that.
Shelter is one of the most legendary place for famous and small bands in the area or Tokyo or even Japan, I guess it's understandable how they find it troublesome if people just block the entrance because they wanted to take a picture of "Starry from Bocchi the Rock"
So glad you're doing another video on this. I'm going there this May. I'll be too scared to go downstairs even when they don't banned Starry. Guess I'll just do the jump thing, and buy some merch.
With or without Bocchi, I always visit Shimokitazawa when I can. I don't visit here for any notable landmark or "tourist trap", I just love the laidback vibe of this neighborhood.
You can say it's "bullshit" but how is it any different from people going to that one house in Breaking Bad to throw a pizza into the roof Like, people were going there just to take photos, not to actually go in and enjoy the show, that's obviously annoying and as they said, they received complaints about it
Gotta love Crack-kun! When I was there last year, it felt like I was the only one doing the "Bocchi Tour"; I didn't see anyone else at the locations I was at. Well, except the mural. You might remember from my video that there were two guys there and I asked them to jump. I do believe they lived in the apartments at the mural or maybe worked at the one of the stores there because as I was leaving, they walked into one of the apartments/shops. When was this new video of yours filmed? I remember those same signs being up when I was there last year. When I go back, I want to attend a show at Shelter with my daughter. I figure since we would be paying to go in (and maybe buy some merch) all should be good. I hope.... I wonder how the movie versions of Bocchi and the new season of the show will effect things there. Nice follow up video. :)
@@KindaNeet I did find it funny that Village Vanguard FINALLY put up Bocchi merchandise. The only things I could find were the manga when I was there in April.
So nothing new lol. Anyways, I was there for the second time a few days ago, the colored keychains sold out (I only have the kessoku band colours), but I copped a couple of shirts. Its a ritual for me now to at least visit Shelter once, and buy an album from an artist as a souvenir. And I always like staying in Shimokita whenever I'm in Tokyo.
"enjoying the space" isnt what id call it. i get wym but eh. im sure people doing it during opening hours is what prompted it anyways. && at the end of the day shelter staff can do what they want 🤷🏽 zero tolerance towards the otaku makes the most sense. would be more weird if it was only banned during hours of operation
Yeah i was bummed when i went to Shelter last week and saw the sign forbidding pictures. I was even planning on buying a ticket for a show but the venue was closed that day and i didn't have time in my japan trip to come back another day.
It's all fun and play until the 308 Negra Arroyo Lane incident comes up, so I think prohibiting photo is not bull and judging by other comments, they still let people in.
Super underrated channel here. During my trip to Japan I was able to visit these different sites thanks to your videos and patreon and take so many pictures and videos. I took a picture and video sneakily from the top of the stairs during the day, since there were still like 6 other Japanese dudes huddled around there doing the same, but I did revisit again at night and got to go to a show there! They don't seem mind recording or taking pictures if you're a paying customer it seems and I was able to record the interior, a lot of the performances, and even get some pictures and videos of the sign more up close after the show was over. Also fellow Ryo lover, very nice.
I was confused about the ban but the same time the train station has a prominent poster of Bocchi being in Shimokitazawa when I visited there last november. The food scene in shimokitazawa is also good.
Man your pronunciation needs work, I thought you'd improve over time you're in Japan. Yeah streets are narrow in places and they don't want unnecessary lines for just pics.
I'm sure many who visit would love to attend a performance..I know I would of liked to...But I feel many are passing through and time constraints mean it isn't possible to stay for a performance. That's even if there is a performance the day you are there and are able to get a ticket!....So there are factors as to why many cannot fully enjoy the experience. And taking a photo is all you can do to show you were even there...Not forgetting those of us from overseas had/have traveled a long way at great expense just to be there!.
@@KindaNeet Indeed..Also being a foreigner, trying to purchase tickets for anything is not easy...The language and how things are done in Japan don't mesh with how we do things in the west..It can be confusing.
why do they want to close it when it is a good attraction area where many musicians were born it can maintain the music culture of Japan and also other countries and also it is a place to make money for those who sell it, yes it is a little expensive but it is worth what you feel😢😮

@@KindaNeet You really do. I made it to the venue on my last day in Japan and it was EXTREMELY worth!!!
It’s (still) a functioning actual music venue, not a movie set. Just….buy a ticket and go see a show there if you want to experience it so badly?
