Helpful video Lorraine. I am practicing watercolor techniques to upgrade my skills. Your videos are excellent. I find them easy to understand and follow. I learned some good tips on matching the value of a hue I have already painted and has dried. Starting lighter and layering the value darker is a new technique for me. The value card with the hole punched in it is going to be helpful. I too am struggling with value in my painting also. Thanks!

Glad it was helpful! Watercolor can take a while to learn, but each painting is a little step in the process.

Thanks so much Lorraine. I really struggle with values. This video is very helpful. I like the hole punch value strip.
When life calms down for you, Can you demo taking a black and white photo, and show us how to match those values with colors using random colors? I’ve heard it said that it’s not the color. Ut the value that makes the picture work. Also, Is there a number of how many values are in a painting? 3, 5, etc.?

I am glad the video was helpful Sue! I will add the black and white photo idea to my list. Good thought. I use a lot of values in my painting, but 3 or 5 are good ways to group your values to have a strong composition.

Great informative video! Could you do a video on paint concentration and load in a brush? I tend not to put enough paint in my brush and I think it takes me way to long to do a painting for fear of putting too much paint down too quickly and messing up. I see people put a heavy load of concentrated paint down and it seems to work. I hope you understand my question? Thanks

Hi Bobbie, I do understand your question. Getting enough pigment out can often be an issue. I will add this suggestion to my list.
