A very honest n no holds barred interview. I hope the government will take heed of points being raised by Datuk Faridah.

On the issue of election to head International bodies, very much depends on the success to lobby other countries to support our candidates. If we have now not seen the success of the past, it means our lobbying efforts has weakened or that we have been ineffective in putting our views across in seeking the support of friendly allies!

Very enlightening information for the rakyat. Malaysia was doing it at their own political shame and embarrassment.

When we have unqualified ones in authority and also adamant in their lifestyle, nothing good can be felt by our country.

‘Excellence’ is a word no longer in the vocabulary of M’sians as M’sia as a country command little respect internationally, if at all.
On Indonesia, the country under President Widodo is rising in status and reputation both domestically and oversea. No doubt, the country will surpass M’sia in status, economy and influence.

On the issue of having to pay overtime for the drivers, she has not stated that there are two drivers in the Embassy, one who drives the flag car and the other the office car. The office car hardly use the allocation for overtime, except if the Ambassadors wife hog the use of the office car and incur overtime as well.Such problems have occured in some embassies.

An Ambasador may be accredited to more than one country to cut down costs. They do not travel to the second country every day or even every month. They may visit the country may be 2 times a year! It is therefore not true that such ambassadors fly in and out every day!

No. Corrupted leaders the cause. Why should Malaysia have budget problems??! Priority gone wrong. Let Pakatan Harapan or DAP or Muda handle the Government in Ge 15!

Chun Wai raised the issue of ineffective information gathering work and that he perceives the diplomat doing such work do not interact sufficiently with members of the Press in other countries! Please understand that in the sixties, information work was done by experienced journalists recruited and sent abroad as Information Attaches. One good man was Leong Hew Meng who was then working for The Malay Mail. Journalists in those days sent abroad could interact with other foreign journalists as they speak English well, can drink at the pub, put their views across more effectively, and well versed with geopolitics. Through his contacts, he could get information normally classified as very secret and was of great importance to the country! The practice to recruit experienced journalists as Information Attaches should be revived. Present diplomats doing information work cannot speak English well and seems to concern themselves with Middle East issues and mix more with those from Arab countries. The focus is now on South East Asia, not on the Middle East and people talk more about trade, not religion or only Palestine!

Please be corrected that Dato Mohamed Rahmat @ Tok Mat was a Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia from 1982 -1985 with the ministerial "pangkat" at the same time been an elected MP for Pulai , Johore. Appreciate if Dato Noor Farida Arrifin clears this matter.

From my own experience participating in a international seminar organised by a UN body, interpreter was always made available by the organising body.
Some country representative intentionally would speak in their national language although they could speak English very well
