      @@LittleMissJmoo my first go-round with pcbh but let's call this the end of the Sandy Edwards- Kate Peterson era .probably the best set in the series so far .the death of Sandy and the mystery surrounding it and Kate Peterson going completely insane. wow what an ending. That being said I think they should have ended it with Meg Steve and Kate walking out of her cell rather than going to the outside and all the rest of that nonsense; it took away from the whole tension of Kate's complete mental breakdown. and now yet another contrived entrance :Susie's mom shows up at Wentworth.

      John P Walters True. Meg did remain in the show for far too long. As you said, her entertainment value was poor and it got noticeably less and less as the series went on too.

    • @8ballpoolking1
      @8ballpoolking1 9 лет назад +4

      John P Walters I think Meg would have stayed for a fair time longer had the show continued. It needed a good freshen up had it remained on, though, that is for sure. Joan was in it for too long as well for me. She was a great character, don't get me wrong, but it became unrealistic the amount of times she got away with foul play etc. Overall, the show seemed to get rather stale towards the end. I didn't enjoy the 600's a whole lot by comparison to the rest. It felt like it had ran its course and the ending was overdue if anything.

    • @8ballpoolking1
      @8ballpoolking1 9 лет назад +3

      John P Walters I think sometimes they forget just how boring a character can eventually become to the loyal viewers of a show. Meg had a few interesting story-lines early on but really she could have left when she moved into the probation officer position. She could even have gone to Indonesia with Bob, but obviously she was very set in her ways and so carried on and on. I could never imagine being in one show all those long episodes if I was an actor, especially in a role like hers. Think it would eventually get very boring and monotonous. Didn't know it was just 23 episodes that she missed, that's incredibly low out of 692!

    • @8ballpoolking1
      @8ballpoolking1 9 лет назад +4

      John P Walters I remember Elspeth starring in Neighbours during the 90's too, which was also a quite mundane role from what I can recall. Val was tremendous at playing Bea. She was one my favourite characters in the entire show. She was a great leader but also came across with equally fine acting when in a vulnerable state too. She left at the right time while her character was still being so well appreciated.

      It drives everybody crazy to understand how she managed with Sandy. The most logical explanation is that she picked up the lid to the garbage can to fight with Sandy and she pushed Sandy into the garbage truck causing Sandy to drop the knife. The truck drove off with Sandy in it and she was crushed. I don't she her killing Sandy with a garbage can lid when she had a knife, but the lid could have acted as a shield and could have been used to knock Sandy. On the other hand it is less believable that she somehow managed to get the knife away from Sandy, stabbed her, picked her up and threw her into the back of the truck or the garbage can - that's unlikely.

    A poem about peterson:
    There was a young woman called kate, who is a wentworth inmate, she first met sandy, who was sweet as shandy, but then ep264 met her gruelling fate. Bea got ill, the doctor gave her a pill, for a headache that she once had, kate diagnosed its bad kidneys, so inmates started to help with donor deliveries, and found out doreen was a match. She signed up for it, then she backed out in a frightful fit, and let down bea her best mate. A car accident happened, and driver had died, by the side of the road, a matching kidney blood type behold, they got dr gibson to operate, who isnt fond of kate, as bea found out not too late. Back at wentworth was none to quiet, as Sandy started a riot, and Winter gonna help out, she had it all planned, with workshop keys in her hand, but Marie had a plan to switch places with Sand, to run things her own way...oh very sneaky and underhand! Sandy got wind this, that Marie was taking the piss, cos she stole the top spot from undrerneath her. 250 bea had come back, to stop Marie dealing her crack and the white haired bitch was sent to the pound. Lorna didnt like what bea done, so bea told her, "Drugs are for scum" and the bitch right in her place. When Marie got out the pound, revenge in her mind was the sound and top dog she was for a while. She wrote fitzwater a note to Edwards stopped the dope, so she had her bloke get a swift hanging. When Sandy found out her man was dead, she wanted fitzwaters head, but decided to stab him instead. Stevie moved in for a chance, not talking about tea or a dance, but a bunk up with Edwards thereafter, what class! :/ He thought "im a stud" but he is really a dud, cos much later in eps there came Wendy. That receptionist floozy, whos not prettier that Susie, is nozy and sneaky, who always sticks in her beaky, to things that are none of her business. he fell for her charms and small muscular arms, from typing reports every week, i must end on this poem, did she really even know him, cos all they did was just shag and drink wine! #Done lol

    Glad Myra had a word with Mr Faulkner, as Bea knocked back two of his suggestions now with the newspaper (wasn't it originally going to be a newsletter ?) as he seems a generally nice gentleman for the most part (yes I know he was a naughty boy with Sandy-but who else was he going to find with the same haircut). His idea which Bea took regarding funding might have got him an extra star from Erica.

    Kate proved to be quite a handful. Its funny how the more middle class characters like her and Kay White seem initially out of their depth in prison, yet they often prove themselves to be as tough or tougher than many of the more streetwise inmates.Margo would certainly agree (albeit reluctantly lol),she got her ass handed back to her by both of them lol.

    Loved the Sandy - Marie - Kate Triangle...My thesis.. I think Kate fooled everyone. I think the only way out for her after her trial was to plead insanity in order to get out - a risky angle but I can see her getting out eventually to lead a normal life. If you notice close ups of some of her last episodes she gives you a half smile or raised eyebrow (as if to say iv'e fooled you!) maybe the writers wanted to keep you guessing! At first I thought she went mad but now I think she's beaten the system and was really smart! - a great character played by Olivia Hamnett! as for Sandy unfinished business - but it was likely Kate Killed her BUT if Louise Le Nay was to come back the writers were going to say she had escaped from the Dumpster! - well that would have made it interesting. I would expect if that happened she wanted primarily to get back at Marie and hand Kate the knife! for Kate's protection, but Sandy would have known Bea or Marie would have got to Kate anyway - hence to let her off the hook! and cover for her escape.

      A brilliant and enjoyable ‘thesis’ Russell 🙌🏻 I wished the writers would have given her an even more pronounced moment of ‘or have I actually just tricked everyone?’ as she was leaving. But your theory is one I shared, or secretly hope for. I wish we had delved more into her past and I would hope we might see her again at some point in the future… but sadly the self-important people in the comment sections who enjoy spoiling things for others have already loudly broadcast this was her FINAL appearance.

I would say your in for a treat in the not too distant future, if it weren't for the fact that your comment was posted 5 years ago . You must have missed her previously though as she is a character you would never forget. 26:45 Crikey Lizzie, are you thick?! Don't tell Doreen the paper won't be censored. Don't you remember how Doreen screwed it up for everyone the last time they stopped censoring things in Wentworth. Also, with all those escape attempts, was Suzie Driscoll taking Doreen's 'stupid pills'? Maybe that's why they moved Doreen to maternity - they realised that having two so intensely thick people in such close proximity for any length of time would cause irreparable damage to the space/time continuum and could cause Wentworth to disappear into a black hole of stupidity. Also, I see Meg has has given her hair a more blonde tint.

    I wonder did Olivia who played Kate get nominated for a Logie Award in 1982. Her performance was outstanding, right down to her body movements during the break down, the way she bends down hiding behind the toliet when screws came. I don' think she got the recongition she derserved as a actor in Prisoner. It was all about Val Lehman, Shiela Florance and Coral Burns. btw, I am bloody sick of Susie and her garbage. Pi~~ed off Kate didn't get a special ending as she went off in the van.
