Chrissie trying to flirt with Fergie made me lmao! It's my first meeting with The Freak after having watched episode 1-286. So far, so intriguing. She's certainly 'different'. I never watched it 'back in the day', though I'm plenty old enough to have. Making up for it now, and loving this show. It's classic, and doesn't age.
Quinn to Ferguson - 50 bucks out of 500? You're on a bloody big cut. Ferguson to Quinn - That's because I'm a big girl. What a great response from Ferguson. She was the greatest villainous screw, while Nola McKenzie was the greatest evil prisoner.
I heard that the director said that the actress playing Fergusson said she had eyes like Al Pacino and would focus on a close up of her eyes every opportunity he got.
@@djbethell Not so true. By this time in the series, Sheila Florence has already been diagnosed with cancer. That is why so many episodes are about Lizzie trying to quit smoking, or there's no buy up & no cigarettes. The writers were trying everything they could do to get her to stop smoking, and why Lizzie always seems to find the odd cigarette in a package previously thought empty. But, back to my original point. Every time Lizzie wakes up coughing, the first thing she does is light a cigarette & her coughing ceases. Now, I smoked for 30+ years. And I guarantee, the last thing I wanted when I woke up coughing & gasping for my breath was a cigarette to make it even worse.
"And sooner or later.. I intend to have you.." lol sounds like me opening my fridge and resisting starting on the beer for the night. But knowing I can't hold out for long..
I don't think Erica would have approved that aggressive search with physical and verbal abuse. I can tell Ferguson was chomping at the bit to get a prisoner alone almost from the start. It will make me sick if she somehow knocks Davo off her governor's chair. I can also see that Vera was like Mother Goose compared to the freak. At least Vera was capable of seeing reason. I already want to see what's coming to her.
I have watched this show on and off since I was a child and have a few of the DVDS. I was thrilled to find it on RUclips as i have never seen every episode. I never dreamed as a child that one day I would find myself in a prison- as a professional visitor. Especially after being a bit of a Susie as a teen - I was considered "uncontrollable". I find it interesting to compare current modern corrections although mens and womens prisons have always been different.Women suffer particular emotional pain being separated from their children. Some of them "cut" which can lead to charges of self-mutilation.I currently work caring for a former long serving prisoner. He has enjoyed watching some of the episodes with me although I think he has mixed feelings. They were not allowed to watch Prisoner in there years ago. After the time he has served he is fully institutionalised and really cannot care for himself, even less so after a horrific car accident. Many of the old prisoners started in boys homes or foster care then juvenile detention. Some never had a chance at life.I found that respect was earned. If I was straight with them, they were usually straight with me, most of the time lol.
Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to share your story! Do you volunteer or is this your profession? I would highly consider doing what you do. I too can relate to Susie, and Krissy as well.
I adore the moment Freako Fergo thrusts slug up against the wall, the dynamics of Prisoner have changed and some of the old complacency is forever gone. Wentworth isn't a holiday camp anymore now the toad from Queensland has arrived ⚡💥
10:06 Did she seriously just lick her lips, watching Simpson get in the shower? It's so freaking creepy how she always shuts the door when confronting the women in their cells. Makes me feel helpless just watching it.
I was lucky enough to meet her when she played the Freak in cell Block H the musical in London. We had a box in the theatre and during the play she turned up in our box. I had the leather gloves on my shoulder scary 😱😖
Steve Charlesworth... an experience definitely worth telling the grandkids about... my grandkids r only toddlers but ive no doubt theyll watch it too one day xxx
I remember this particular episode on Channel 5 back in 98. I was sure in Suzie's disco scene, that the Human League's don't you want me was playing in the background.
Lizzie says only the remand prisoners can get into other cells while work is going on, but the prisoners are constantly seen ducking out of the laundry to go back to their cells.
Because they're no doubt familiar with people like Chrissie and have no doubt read her file anyway lol, to know she is an untrustworthy, using bitch. So it's easy to understand why they turned her down and stayed away from her. Oh, and Steve Fawkner isn't a bastard, Joan Ferguson on the other hand... 😄

It's because she has been abused by men since she was a child so I guess she likes to get in first don't blame her to be honest she has been used by men since forever
You'd think that the women would be a bit more understanding of the fact that any bets made on the inside come with the inherent risk of losing your stake and/or winnings if the pot is confiscated by the staff of said establishment.
This is a great episode. Love Maggie Kirkpatrick's lick of the lips as Ferguson sees Simpson in the shower!. Hard to believe that she was terrified in real life!
burbercat Yes, that's right as her father was a Major in the army, who we see in the near future, and she tried to get into the army, but she wasn't let in. I once heard it may have been because she is gay.
I remember seeing the Ferguson episodes on the original run, so it will be interesting now to see how the writers manage her character. If she is too dominant, storyline’s will suffer and the show could easily turn into the Ferguson show, which would be a huge pity.
Even though these episodes are most about Ferguson's brilliant entry to the show, I must say that Quinn's a great character too. Very good actress, who shines through the screen in every scene she's in. Definently the most interesting new prisoner since Sandy and the Doctor entered the show back in episode 235.

Tis true that money really is the 'root of all evil'. I mean first Fay Quinn appears from nowhere, then she is a bookie, then she 'magically' has $500 (how in a prison I have no idea), 'Fergo' (another abbreviated name), catches Doreen, skims off some of the money (obviously screws don't get paid enough!) and then they expect Quinn to 'magically' come up with another $500 in a few hours, is it me or is this starting to get the 'farfetchedness' of an American soap!

What a great response from Ferguson. She was the greatest villainous screw, while Nola McKenzie was the greatest evil prisoner.
I disagree, whilst she was a thoroughly evil woman, I would say that Bev Baker was far worse.
Imagine Ferguson and Jock Stewart wandering around Wentworth at the same time....😮

It would've been dope to see vera n ferg at the same time
Did you just use the word dope in it's positive context?
The Barnhurst 5 era would have been a good opportunity.

Yeah, but I think they would've butted heads eventually. Two strong personalities sharing the same space is a recipe for disaster
Viniger tits is a pussy cat compared to Ferguson.
I thought Davo allowed gambling? That's what she told Bea.
I guess she meant as long as it's not gambling for money, then they could play cards and things like that. 😃
she did.... she said as long as its kept on a small basis its harmless
Love the scene between Joan and Chrissie in the laundry with the neck massarge. Hilarious.

Joan keeps some money for herself Lmfao :)
Mazzano Blue haha
Yes.. She keeps about $400 by the looks of it.
Joan Ferguson makes Vera Bennett look like Mary Poppins
I wonder why Monica never came back she was a great prisoner in the early days

nah she's smarter than that. she used it to get her way into the racket.

Lizzie told Ferguson that she's been in jail half of her life.
Geeze, she looks pretty rough for a 40 year old. ;-)
