  • Shoulder arthritis generally refers to damage to the smooth cartilage that covers the ends of the bones. The cartilage gets worn away, causing the rough bone ends to rub against each other. Irregular motion and bone spurs along with inflammation can result in pain and loss of motion in the shoulder.
    Exercise can be a useful way to help manage arthritis symptoms, but it’s important to be careful with certain activities. Shoulder arthritis can be aggravated by heavy lifting or overhead activities. Regular exercise of the shoulder muscles can help reduce pain, support healthy cartilage, as well as increase range of motion and function.
    In this video, Advanced Practice Physiotherapist Danielle McCormack provides an overview of osteoarthritis of the shoulder, then talks you through a series of shoulder exercise demonstrations including range of motion, stretching, strengthening, as well as scapular muscles stabilization exercises.

    Thank you for calm, clear, non-flashy explanations and demonstrations. The speaker wants to deliver helpful information, not develop a "following". I really appreciate this video!

    Thank you for this video, it’s really useful. Just briefly trying out all these exercises while watching and I can feel some relief. My shoulder feels slightly freer and more mobile. I’m feeling much more positive knowing I can do something to help myself, so thank you, I really appreciate it

    Thank you so much for this video. How many times a week should we do this?

    • @JoeCannon1
      @JoeCannon1 Год назад

      Start with 1 to 2x per week depending on your pain. If you can eventually do 3x a week, you are in the sweet spot. In the beginning you may notice some muscle sorness one or two days after. Thats normal. it will go away as you get used to the exercises.

    I really liked this video. I am only 44 and have very painful arthritis in my shoulder. I did, however, just use a homemade THC tincture with bubblehash and MCT oil. I rubbed a small amount on my shoulder and within 15 minutes all of the pain has vanished. Works for 12-24 hours at a time, way longer than a Tylenol or Ibuprofen ever did!

      We're happy to hear that. Although it may be difficult to stay active when living with joint pain, maintaining regular physical activity can be an important part of pain control and retraining the brain to experience pain less intensely!

    I am suffering from a bone spur in my right shoulder; my dr. gave me a cortisone shot the other day and I am still in pain. He said the shot may take a week to take affect. If not, to call him about next steps. I'm hoping PT and an exercise regimen will help, if not surgery. Any advice you can give me I would appreciate because we all need a shoulder to lean on!! Thank you.

    Great Video, unfortunately someone close to me is suffering from arthritis and also I don't know whether it is osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid but and I know the differences and similarities between then I just don't know which is more deadlier, like I know both of them are bad but which one needs more attention?

      Has the someone seen any medical attention yet? Are the finger joints stiff as well?

    • @KimW2222

      My understanding is Osteoarthritis is degenerative while Rheumatoid is crippling stiff muscles that become hard to move.

    My boss was a chronic patient of osteoarthritis, he can't even walk properly due to his illness. He had wasted millions of money for the treatment of his joint pains but he got no relief. Lastly, one of my colleges advised him to take Planet Ayurveda's medicines. He has gone for his advise and now his condition is improving very rapidly. Those herbal medicines worked like a blessing for him.
