I believe merami has mentioned before or someone mentioned it about his thumb placement. The reason behind merami's thumb placement is actually for stability for the keyboard and hand, by having the thumb lying down like that, the hand is more stationary and the keypad will not move around which will happen especially when doing high bpm streams. (this is actually the reason why that popular "technique" video is called "technique" in the first place) Well, my opinion on optimal tapping would be a well-warmed up hand ready for strain for muscle growth. A well-warmed up hand would help make your hand relaxed (lighter) when you stream with a well-warmed up hand your hand will feel more light and you would feel like infinite stamina at first. Obviously, I'm not stating this will help everyone, but I am certainly it will help for perhaps a small amount of players. And also, this will not help with your actual technique, its just warming up your hand by stretching, technique will only be fixed upon hours of practice. I'd funnily enough recommend Long Stream Practice Maps. Not because they are genuinely the way to improve stamina (as I have not improved my stamina a lot despites months of continual practice/routine) but it has certainly made my technique optimal for my personal preference. To really bring out the stamina in you, work on that technique. A good sign for good technique is non-galloping tired slowed down tapping when you run out of stamina. I trust that there is no perfect formula for tapping stamina and posture or hand position as everyone is different. BTMC basically wiggles his whole arm, Shige with a pinky strain thingy and for me a wide hand that has my thumb and pinky like two anchor points (I'm in no position to compare to pros). Everyone is different, and I think by consistently straining on different days, perhaps filming yourself on good days, you can slowly notice what is suitable for you and what makes you feel the most comfy and "infinite stamina". Good luck! Hope you have a good time improving! Stamina and speed is difficult but everyone can achieve at least something no matter how bad you are. Have a good day.
Good video ! This explained very well the playstyle and its constraints. I personally played for a year to improve my streaming ability and it was definitely detrimental to my overall gameplay. Prior to that I overlook maps that contained even a single longstream and wanted to widen my skillset, I became so desperate that I totally changed playstyle. I felt short term improvement on the streams and on the singeltapping at the beginning but I rapidly stopped improving. The stability holding your index gives is insane, it is extremely good for tapping control but for me it completely hindered me from getting speed despite trying different variations. During this time I became so desperate on finally getting good at streams that I gave up on training my aim because I was improving too fast on this skillset (??who complains improving too fast) and it was definitely a bad idea as I stopped playing my very best skillset and eventually stopped liking playing. I even lost mind / hand connection and decreased my reading skill. And yes I can confirm doubles are A PAIN with this playstyle, and yet cookie is freakily good at hitting them. Also this playstyle doesn't allow you to include wrist movement into your streaming technique (as mrekk and whitecat do) so if your technique highly relies on it I recommend not switching at all. The moral of the story : Stick to a playstyle that suits you best on the long term, short term improvement can build false expectations on whether or the not the playstyle is gonna help you or not. Don't focus too much on improvement, from my experience fun is what makes you come back to the game everyday for years and eventually become better. Currently : My stream didn't improve since, I changed to a totally different style : ring and index full alternate, I only play slow streams, finger control maps (sputnik / breathe / ...). I play very less than before but every time I launch the game it's really enjoyable. Totally stopped my grind for skill or ranks, even stopped looking at my combo / misses, never felt less frustrated about the game and that's very pleasant. Please enjoy game
Wow, that's like, longer than my video script) The thing that stands out the most is about changing playstyle. When I was around rank 500,000 I would keep changing my grip and this would really impact how bad my aim was. As a result I ended up not improving on the skillset which means that I played a lot less DT than all the other six digits out there and that caused me to have a lot worse aim. I became good at finger control since I kept my style consistent and always liked those maps but aim is one of the things that always held me back. I think it's because I wanted to be different from everyone so I started using vaxei's grip cookiezi's grip whitecat's grip anybody's grip that was not my own and that made my aim really inconsistent so about a few months ago I went back to my regular grip and started dragging again and I instantly became way better aim and that's why I don't really switch my playstyle anymore. Ty for the comment
been using the pinky style for more than almost 2 years now and i must say it definitely help me improve faster than i used to. either that or just a placebo effect. either way, i liked it. haven't mastered it yet though. can't figure out his thumb placement until now even
The thumb placement is pretty simple, thumb on touch point of index finger with the pinky finger curled up on streams. The only thing that is complicated is being able to stream properly or tapping on that middle finger while keeping the thumb against the index because you almost can’t pull the finger down. Before watching any Shigetora videos I naturally would single tap in the same manner, my thumb pressed against my index because I lacked the speed in my index at the time. It also made it easier for me to acc while singetapping as I was able to follow the beat better for whatever reason. However, when it switched to doubles, triples, or streams (anything not single tap) I would have to pull my thumb away from my index to be able to stream. Fast forward a few years and many breaks, I no longer put my index finger to my thumb and I can single tap faster than ever but choose to alternate if it’s just too quick. I single tap more like lifeline in that if I want to go fast I lift my palm from the table and bounce my wrist. Shige’s style of tapping isn’t the best style, nor is it going to make you better. This the reason only a handful of players in the top 10 actually yes it. It’s more so a preference, if you enjoy it, use it. If you don’t, find another style to use. That’s what I did and I benefited greatly. This goes for any style of course, it’s all a preference.
yet another style of play that I just accidentally/unintentionally made myself accustomed to when I started playing (except the thumb thing thats weird). Did the same thing with my grip too, I just always found the vaxei type grip comfortable whereas a lot of people tend to not like it
I've always been amazed by his technique. This tapping seems so smooth, like it's natural. I have a theory that we need to replicate animals to tap naturally

I don't have any evidence to back this up other than cookie being the best player for a long time but other people have told me switching their tapping style made them faster.
@@ginneko3394 what I’m saying is that to say Shigetora has the best tapping style but all these players are better in tapping related categories, wouldn’t that mean they have better tapping technique? I mean saying Shigetora has the best tapping technique for finger control when Ekoro is arguably the best finger control player of all time with a different technique just doesn’t make any sense. Also to say his technique is the best for speed yet players like Aetrna and Aricin have significantly different techniques goes to show it’s not the best. Essentially I don’t think it’s the “best technique”. There may be certain that are better than others but at the end of the day, I think it comes down to personal preference.
@@YSoAggressive absolutely personal preference trumps any optimization you can come up with. It's kind of hard to say what players are better/worse but for shige: sure his speed isn't merami level but back when goodbye was ranked he got like 97% when the highest acc from others was 89. Finger control he has tons of good scores, can't name any off the top of my head but if you scroll his channel enough you'll probably find what I'm talking about. Point is, shige plays a lot of skillsets so I do believe there are going to be players that surpass him in certain singular skills. THAT BEING SAID this video wasn't super serious, it's more that I saw his interesting tapping and wanted to talk about it, knowing that using shigetora in the title would get lots of views. After all, I'm a content creator, not a pro player.
@@ginneko3394 I’m not saying these players are better than shige though. I’m saying that in this video, you try to make a point that he has the greatest tapping style for both speed and finger control. I’ve been around since 2016, I used to watch shige back in OpenRec days and in his prime. I know what he can do and how good his finger control his. He’s not better than Ekoro in finger control. There is a reason he’s got an SS on Sputnik, or is the number 1 by a large margin on Decaplets which is one of the hardest ranked finger control maps out right now. He is also the goat of polyrhythmic maps which in itself is only accomplished through heavy finger control. So for shige to have the best tapping style for finger control, it makes 0 sense. This example is further by the high bpm stream players. That takes a certain level technique to be able to reach those speeds and so you would think that since they are so far above in the aspect of speed that clearly shige can’t have better overall tapping technique right? That’s just how I see it. Now what I’m not saying is that you should copy Ekoro, or aetrna, or Aricin’s technique because what makes them so good is their efficiency in their own methods which is only built from years of perfecting your own method. To put it simply, make your method the best method. Make whatever is comfortable your best tapping method cause all the top 100 players at some point tried to copy Shige’s tapping method and decided it wasn’t very good for them so they switched because it isn’t “the best”, it’s preference.

Why Osu! Players Dont Fucking Understand Preference... - Derek

@@ginneko3394 title says that he has the best tapping technique in osu
which isnt really true because you know the P word
@@frawog well imo if two players started out one using a bad tapping technique and the other a good one, the one with the good tapping will improve faster. I don't have any evidence to back this up other than cookie being the best player for a long time but other people have told me switching their tapping style made them faster.

You cant play speed with the cookiezi technique, you need to use aetrna technique or somethong similar, your fingers need to be mostly straight
The main drawback for speed with this is honestly that if I put too much force into my tapping, my thumb starts to hurt.
Or the pinky, my pinky hurts alot more than my thumb when under streaming stress
I use index & ring to tap since it’s the most natural for me but I’ve been trying to tap with index middle and my speed and stamina are way worse

Search up shigetora skins on github, it's 06 Hamachi I believe.

Aetrna? Ekoro? Aricin?
Maybe I'll talk about them in a later video, their tapping styles just aren't as interesting.
@@YSoAggressive that's basically what I said, I agree with you.
Why don't you just buy a table that costs only 25 dollar in Turkey? It's very cheap for you
