  • Controlling your staff through APP in China
    It's the application of Suning, their own application called "Douya", opened only to their employees. Once you are fired you get kicked out from their application. In this application they use it for all the conference call, chat, training, recording your working time, geo-localization to know if you are in the office with a radius of 500 meters. And through that they can know how much time you spent in the office. This application help them listen to your calls and see what other applications you use. If you use for instance RUclips for more than half an hour it will send you a message to tell you to refocus your attention to work.
    Is this the right direction for the future of management?
    Using digital capability is a good thing but using it to micromanage and remove the freedom of its employees, can lead to a lack of creativity, potential frustration and a lack of trust.
    I am more about trust in working relationship, humans are not robot that could be fully handled by software. Tools should help built the trust, and trust need to go both ways.

      Indeed Adia, that was the feeling I got out of this experience. A new kind of slavery where people work to enrich the few on top of the pyramid, and being managed like tools.
