- first we explored the swamp and it was a very nice experience. that said, there are many places they have to rework imo. anyway, later on we lurked in the rivers and if the teno doesn't come to the deino, then the deino has to come to the teno XD

I went 5 days straight playing Deino and traveling up and down the river. Even to the swamp. Having encountered a grand total of nothing.
sad to hear, that's unfortunate. but yeah, I also have times where I play for many hours and don't meet many or even none. but, in general I mostly find other players.
Thats the new point of deino its a creature that now relies on cannabalism

My carno had a migration zone at swamp once and I spent probably 10 minutes just hanging out in that shallow water area, no fear at all from deinos. I could understand a shallower zone to make it a challenge to stay hidden but...ankle deep? For miles around? Really? I was surprised because I thought the devs mentioned not having shallow drinking zones like that anymore on Gateway, like, anywhere. It's really unfortunate, I've been seeing "safe zone" spots all over the map now, and it doesn't take long for people to learn where they are :/
totally agree. I don't get it. why so many safe drink spots and areas? somebody said that those areas are for spino and barry. but, even if so, when will they come? I guess we won't see spino in 2024 and probably not even 2025. so, by now those areas are just annoying :/
As Deino you can eat those schools of jumping fish that Pteranodons usually feast on. They don't seem like much but each school usually contains around 5 fish and can fill up nearly half of your hunger bar. Obviously you get no nutrients from them but a fully grown deino doesn't really need more than 1 full bar just so they don't suffer the debuffs.

@@da.mombie No problemo! they can be awkward to catch for me at least when fully grown, hard to judge where the end of your snout is. Best to just try and "spear" through them and time your bite like you would with a Pteranodon.
@@mattl2k6 now that you say, I tried to catch one as juvie once. yeah, it took me many attempts to get one. but again, I didn't think we can catch them as adult, too. so, that's really good to know when things go down
Hey there! The editing at 3:20-4:00 where the Music catches on and with it, you grab the adolescent Stegosaurus and slowly walk with it underwater while being assaulted by the two parents... but having a skin with protection equal that of rock hard armor.. and slowly disappearing with the prey in mouth.

I have a deino on Gateway and I don't like it. Way too many places that people can drink from so you don't really have the luxury of sitting and waiting because you could starve to death so you have to move and hope you get lucky finding someone crossing or drinking while you eat fish to barely keep you out of the red so you do not die. Once my adult dies I won't play deino again.
right now it's even more easy to ambush on gateway than spiro was in the end. just 'cause people don't know the map and cross/drink almost everywhere. on the long run tho, I also think there are way too many safe places to drink and even to cross :/
@@da.mombie I finally disagree with you after all these years lol. Because the players drink anywhere like you said and there's so much water the chances of finding one of the 85 players (15 players being deino) drinking at any one time is very small. Spiro they had to drink in the river, well and swamp but nobody was barely there. Now they can drink from a much larger river system and a dozen lakes. I could sit in ambush along the river for an hour and might not see a single person come by or even hear anyone.
I'm not scared of drinking or even crossing a wide river anymore because the chance of a deino in the river is very small.
@@ScottM436 finally! did become spooky to always have the same opinion anyway well, on spiro we had a similar problem in my opinion. if you were northwest, then you could drink pretty safe at the mossy river. the south was safe to drink close to huge waterfall. the north center was safe to drink at the shallow place at the center river or the east river. the north and east was safe to drink at the point where the dry river entered the east river. the swamp had safe drink spots all over and the southeast center also had a safe drink spot at the east river. the southwest had the beach spot. in fact, there wasn't a single area on the map where I didn't know a pretty safe drink spot nearby.
but, that's why I was hoping they learned of it and we won't have such spots on gateway. specially 'cause we have way more sources of water now. I wouldn't mind the many lakes and rivers, if there wouldn't be ANY drink spot at all.
I think the swamp was designed for the more semi aquatic dinosaurs in mind. Spino, Sucho and Bary. Giving their long legs a speed advantage both in the shallow parts and the deep ones.
someone else mentioned that too and it's a good point which I didn't have in mind. still, spino will come 2025-2026, sucho and bary probably more early, but, I don't expect them very soon either :/
@@da.mombie yeah unfortunately those dates sound reasonable. Besides being a beautiful place there is currently not much incentive to play in the swamps.

its better because Deino have many spots to switch you never know where he is
by now I love it. but, I really think the many shallow areas will make it very difficult to get prey as deino on the long run. as soon as everyone knows where it is safe to drink, it will become very tough to ambush :/
Yeah true but you have a better chance to survive if you meet cannibals both have positive and negative aspects my problem is the new stam regeneration its so slow now.. with Galli itake years to get my full stam back..@@da.mombie
I love all of the diverse waterways as Deino. But it is a hard life.
I feel pretty the same. I'm afraid it will become a even harder life as soon as people know the map and all the safe drink spots :/

These safe spots are honestly stupid, they need to give deinos a chance to hunt. The safe spots should give people more time to react but not make them completely safe from deinos.
yeah, they really were smart. no swinging like there is no tomorrow. they cared about their mate the swamp is already tricky to hunt. many bays, a huge area combined with just a few players/prey. the many shallow places make it so much worse. 'cause even if you see someone in range, you often can't reach them. 'cause you have to pass a shallow area which exposes you or at least slows you down like crazy. so unnecessary in my opinion :/
this new map is the End of Deinosuchus ... i went swamp plane could cry
it's really a bad map for deino. I said that from start on. way too many safe drink spots and tough to reach areas. that said, I still had a lot of fun with deinos by now. so, what makes me really sad is the new weight system. deino was so fun to grow recently. as early juvie you could grab omnis, as late juvie even cera, carno and teno. it was so nice to be able to ambush almost from start on. now we have to hide and mostly just eat dead bodies and fish for the first two hours. it so boring to grow them with the new weight
Once I tried to survive in the swamp and I starved even it was the migration spot and I have never gone back there its just too shallow to hunt
the first day was quite busy in there. the second day I only heard some omni calls and also had to leave before I would have starved. the many shallow parts are pretty bad. I hope they will rework them :/
I miss the isle and play it again for about 2 hours last night on EU server, as solo beipi. My ping is not good as always playing on EU 😆. But one thing i realize that, now adult beipi consume too much stams when swimming. I ended up traveling around the map by running around on land, surprisingly its better than swimming, and i had surprisingly smooth growth process due to lack predators hunting me and im on tryhard mode 😆.
I feel like the isle is getting more and more empty ☹️. Cause last night i barely meet anyone. Just saw couple raptors, i see bunch of tenos but probably just AI, no ptera anywhere, no cera, no carno, no nothing.... Was hoping to nest, but i can't find any beipi beside me, im so lonely ☹️ Feeling like will smith in the movie "I am Legend" 😆.
awe I hope you will find more people next time. but, yeah, first of all beipi seems to be rare on the isle. to find others is also more difficult by now, 'cause we don't know the map and hotspots yet. the only places which are mostly "busy" are northeast plains, highlands and south plains. the swamp is also mostly populated. all areas between are pretty empty tho :/
@@da.mombie yeah it seems to be the case, poor beipi 😢. Yeah those places are the migration zone, so it bounds to be busy. And it could probably me playing on the wrong hours, so i don't met many people, i played at 2 AM 😅, so Its probably noon at Europe.
@@temujinchannel8584 yeah, but there are also migration zones with less people. like the river delta or even more east, as I was with pachy recently :/ uhm, can't say for sure, but should be even before noon are the servers full at that time?
@@da.mombie you're right, the only place crowded with Players are Highland in my Cases. But my beipi never change Its migration to Highland yesterday ☹️. It always stays in the swamp
Those shallow zones seem a but weird to me. When I tried using a shallow area I got the DRINK command and had seen the animation, but my thirst meter wouldn’t go up. I had to go to deeper water for it to actually work. This isn’t a 1-time thing for me either or I’d think it was a bug. I was playing Biepi, so perhaps an issue with them?
tbh, I never tried to drink in such an area by now. but, I have the problem at rivers, too. if I don't go "half" into the water, then it doesn't fill up even if I have the drinking animation. seems to be a little buggy in general :/
@@da.mombie It may be a feature so that the larger dinos have to be deeper in the water otherwise it's like they're just sipping it. Realistically it makes sense, but I'm not sure whether or not it was intentional.

If u wanna know a bug that might be beneficial, if you go through the dam to go in the sea, you won't dehydrate. As soon as you walk on land tho the bug will resolve itself and you will start to dehydrate.

The swamp is so beautiful, it should be a wonderful place to be a deino But its quite hard to navigate, and like you said has way too many safe drinking places. I really don't fear the water when i'm in the swamp as any other dino.
there are so many bays which you can hardly reach in time, 'cause the water is too shallow and even more, many huge areas of ankle deep water. I really don't get them sometimes. right now it is ok, 'cause many players don't care about their ways. but, as soon as everyone got grabbed once or twice, they will use the many safe areas and deino can only watch them from afar :/ like you said, kind of sad
Ok realistically Deino would in habits swamps and Bogs they like those areas cause its easier to blend in with the surrounding.

I had very bad experiences with the swamp. All regeneration rates were extremely reduced. If I left the water, I began to lose fluids rapidly. I was no longer able to reproduce in the swamp. I didn't do any damage to AI Tenos, they just moved on unfazed. Although the bleeding stopped, there was no healing. So I had to leave the brackish water and return to fresh water. But in terms of terrain, the swamp is a very interesting area than Deino.
What the developers should definitely rework is the saturation of the Deino. It can't be that a wild boar or deer is a same tooth gap filler as a frog.

thx mate ♥ jeez, that sounds annoying. was it a bug after all? but yeah, the swamp is an interesting place. but, in my opinion way too many shallow parts. at least that's my first impression. we will see how it will turn out on the long run the amount of food you get from different prey is weird in general. I also don't like that a frog is S (protein) and gets shown as adult, too. I was walking quite often to prey on land just to discover a frog only. as juvie, ok (but even there they are useless), but pls, don't show me a meal on land which turns out to be a frog as an adult ^^
The dino spawn points are really trash. I didn't spawn remotely close to water or even in range to smell it.
let me guess, water access spawn? there is water right beside, but, it seems bugged with scent. so, you can't smell it. even worse, if you spawn on the forest side, then you can't even see it. I got lucky and ran by accident in the right direction, but, if you go the other way, then you are pretty messed up :/
@@da.mombie I followed the migration path and eventually found a river with maybe 5% hp left no water, stamina or food.
@@Rockerrobin let's hope they will fix the scent bug soon. but, I would also like more spawn areas for deino. like swamp, river delta and west river
Great Vid mombie, quick idea: Wouldnt it be better as deino to let the prey go in deep water and just bite it to death? Maybe you could have gotten that 2nd utah too if u bite the first one.
thx mate ♥ I could have easily got both. they had no stam at all. I probably even could have killed them right on land. but, I love the drowning animation and I ain't greedy. so, I was quite happy with one

Yeah, The reason for this swallow parts is for the Spinossauridius family, like, the big river is Deinosucho without question, and the swallow parts is for the Barionix,sucho and spinossaurus, but the lake of then make the swamp the most safe place to drink right now ;(@@da.mombie

sad to hear. personally I liked spiro, but, to me the design of V3 was always better than spiro. gateway reminds me of V3 and even if I don't have a final opinion yet (way too early), I think it is a better map than spiro. well, better means I like it better. after all it's just a matter of taste.

I like snow in the mountains for skiing, but, I don't like it where I live. you have to shovel snow, get your car free of snow and ice and so on. normally we don't have very cold winters anymore. climate has changed a lot within the last 30 years. but, right now we have many snow how is your winter?
even here in Finland, the snow blocks the footpaths and the car, but otherwise the winter has gone well.

@@da.mombie yup It's best to start on Wather Access and fly along the river to the delta (Estuary weir)
TIP: On the eastern side of the dam, you can find crabs and turtles along the beach
