    Enjoyed your video. As a Knob, I got an overnight for parent's weekend. I could not go back for my 50th because my father was dying, and I could not leave him. You should try Lewis Barbecue the next time you get to Charleston. My grandson graduated in 23 M '68

      Thanks for watching! Yes, as I look back on it now we did get an Overnight on Parent's Weekend. My parents took me to dinner at The Trawler on Shem Creek and it was so nice to be away - even if for just one night. My brother is the Professor of Military Science at The Citadel so we will definitely be back and check out your BBQ recommendation.

    Currently a Senior at the Citadel. Can’t wait to get the ring. Was a wild ride and I’m looking forward to coming back years from now for nostalgia (If the school’s still a thing years from now). Respect to you from being Hotel Hell, even now it’s a menace company. Can’t imagine how bad it was in old corp.

      Thanks for watching! First, let me congratulate you on receiving The Ring in just a few weeks. It is one of the many moments in life you will never forget. I still remember taking my seat in Summerall Chapel and opening that box. They served a steak dinner with wine and cigars in the mess hall that night - not sure if they still do that. Tradition was to run back and smash our wine glasses on the Company Letter. The next tradition was to take an underclassman whom you respected and press the ring deep into their forehead leaving a sweet imprint for them to cherish. And yes, I can tell stories of Old Corps Hotel Hell that I doubt anyone but my classmates would believe. Enjoy your senior year - May 2025 will be here soon enough...

    Do the barracks rooms get better as you go from freshmen to senior?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for watching! The rooms do not get better as one moves from a freshman to a senior (with the exception of the Battalion and Regimental Commanders and their XO's whom get really sweet, huge rooms). The major "perk" of being a senior (at least when I was there) was that seniors are allowed to arrange the furniture however they want. This usually means the instant disassembly of the bunk beds and segregating the desks so that one has more privacy when studying. I graduated in 1988 so another senior perk was having a TV. With modern cell phones and WiFi I'm not sure what the rules are now. Other 80's era room perks was that 2nd semester freshman were issued a telephone (no more phone booths to call mom and dad) and sophomores/juniors were allowed a radio. Times I'm sure have changed...
