It is twist tie from a hardware store, traditionally used to tie vines in gardens. It is coated to protect the plants and makes it more comfortable for wearing. It launders fine however if concerned you could use a high heat steam setting on you iron to sterilize rather than washing. 🖒
Allison, for that you would just not add the nose piece in. But we suggest you would check out this video that covers how to do it with no nose guard. When you are making them for hospitals you can do it a bit differently. ruclips.net/video/-dt8VQG8CDk/видео.html
If your camera was in above of you or in front of you. That way we could see what is going on. Cant see what is really gong on with the sewing. especially with doing the top stitching. Also seeing the black is hard to follow. sorry just trying to learn and visiual is best for me. Thanks for showing use...and for your service.
Here is what we have been making for our local hospitals. It's a little different of a mask, no nose piece and quicker to make. And the pleating wouldn't matter on this design because you can flip the entire thing over. ruclips.net/video/-dt8VQG8CDk/видео.html
You could also use bias tape for the end pieces or make your own then cut into pieces. saves on burns....
Great Idea!
I definitely needed this haha
Glad to help, David!
What kind of twist tie material was used for the nose bridge? How does that get washed without rusting since it's sewn in?

Hey thanks for the tips!
All the hospitals are asking for the pleats down not up. ? I see yours are aimed up.
