Well done Marshalls and all. Havent ridden for a few years now, but I could feel the jelly legs and sudden doubling of the bikes weight . Remember it well. All the best to all Keith
Great to see this event is still going! My dad had a cabinet full of trophies from the Exeter, Lands End and many other trials throughout the 60s and 70s. Did them all on a modified Lambretta with the Bats South East London scooter club. 🙂
Thanks for uploading, Chris. Watching the video, I'm not convinced that the right-hand line of the restart was the most favourable, but of course these competitors aren't allowed to inspect the section, they simply come round the corner and are confronted with the restart. Most people - me included - are automatically drawn to the most well-worn route - which gets even more obvious, and more loose, as each competitor rides it.
Never seen this type of trials. I enjoy the smaller bike class British Champion over in IoM (but they go up and around vertical obstacles)... but these bigger bikes could be fun to see.
Great filming, excellent assortment of Bikes and some good riding (we'll gloss over rider no.33😂) especially by the Norton rider ( the man they couldn't silence😊). Well done all.
Hi Alastair, It depends which class they are in, based around manufacture date, and engine capacity. Generally class B bikes (trail bikes under 450cc) will have to do the restart.
What people don't realise is the bikes have to carry everything. The little rucksack is all they have, some don't even bother to have a change of clothes, cold wet, the only respite is the hotel bar and the warm fire that it has after you have finished. If you are going to do it on a bike, a can of coke works wonders combined with a mars bar! The cold excitement and exertions, you just run out of energy sometimes.
The algorithm recommended me your video. Great stuff! It's a very interesting discipline. Where could I find the regulations in order to be able to understand it better? Greetings from Spain. New sub here
Genuine question here: Some guys ride the section non stop, but others deliberately stop half way up and are flagged off again by the marshals. Are they in different classes within the competition?
0:06 Loving that Dude on the most Basic Yamaha Cruising up through the Section like an Absolute Ninja.....Amazing....!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) & Well done to the marshals for finally getting that 890 up the hill too....!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) 15:32 And Seemingly Chris from Bike World Coming up through the Section with just and expansion chamber....ha ha....!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) Thus completing the section with the entire motorbike.....and the reaction of the marshals is excellent.....ha ha.....!!!!! ;) :) :) :) :) :)
That wimp that fell off 3 times wants any license he has, taking off him, no idea or sense of balance/direction to be seen...its just a muddy Goat track not the Himalayas...None of the Marshalls have a clue, circus act🤣the "drama" meter is pegged on this one
Hi Mark, A little harsh, clearly some of the riders are more tired and less skilled than others. At least he didn't give up! The marshals are all volunteers and get the job done with compassion and humour. Chris
Agreed , and the chap on the big KTM hadn’t got a clue what he was doing - why Enter the event on a big heavy machine that your not capable of handling ?

Hi Graham, Agreed, and the restart box was a little smaller than last year.
Thanks for sharing and braving the cold.
18 sec in is Me, then Mike. With Suzie at 9:43, then Mo, you and Pete.
Very impressive skill @14:50 riding that old rigid framed Norton roadster.
Agreed. And then he went back for his silencer!
Nice to see that Benly going well. Cheap commuter road bike, totally un-regarded in its day but that one was going and sounding well.
I think someone's going to be getting themselves some better tyres 😂
Good effort by all helping him out👍

Another great video, thank you.
Easy to say, try the same after riding for 18 -20 hours, none stop in January.
Why do some of the riders stop in-between the R markers and others just keep going?

well done everyone,my legs are tired watching this.

Genuine question here:

Hi Paul. Yes there are different classes of bike. Generally class B bikes (trail bikes under 450cc) will have to do the restart.
Thank you.
Is there a sidecar class?
Hi John. Yes Class D is for sidecars. There were about 10 entered but they didn't all make it as far as Slippery Sam (last section).

Calm down dear!
He'll be alright once he passes his CBT!😂
How did you get on Mark? Oh! don't tell me, you didn't have the b**** to enter! 🙄
