Slight correction. Dark Seed isn't 'Giger inspired artwork'. It IS artwork of H.R. Giger. The entire nightmare world part of the series is based on his art - licensed and digitized. My favourite 'you might've missed it' one is the opening cinematic of Quake II. You might've missed it, but the dropship launching part of it shot-for-shot the dropship sequence from Aliens.
@@dhawkes5096 Technically he didn't work on it. The game was based on his already-existing portfolio of paintings, I don't think he provided any new art for it. I could be wrong, though.
The magazine ad for Dark Seed on Sega CD, which heavily promotes HR Giger's work officially being in the game, was how I was introduced to Giger's work. I wasn't even aware that he was the guy who designed the Xenomorph until a few years later.
Also "First Samurai" features xenomorph-like enemies in the first level. And "Rendering Ranger R2" has an Alien-themed last stage background, with Giger-typical biomechanical structures and acid drips down from the cealing. Both games are for SNES.
Those aliens from Turtles were actually in the cartoon. They were hatched from eggs from Dimension-X, so the alien parody actually starts there for them.
The Sega 32X fighting game 'Cosmic Carnage' has a character, Daemon, who is totally a xenomorph. And the character's stage is most definitely a Giger/Alien-inspired stage.
Ecco the Dolphin. Yes, that's true. The aliens in the later levels and the vortex queen itself look very similar to those from the movies. Clearly inspired from it!
The Alien Breed series on the Amiga also ripped Alien off without even hiding it! I cant remember if the recent (wait, that was probably 15 years ago now!) carried on rippining it off as those games were so dull.
Every now and then I bug Team 17 on social media so that we'd get remasters of Alien Breed 3D titles (aka Amiga's answer to DOOM), but alas, to no avail. At least we have "Project Osiris", a fan-made remake of the first one running GZ Doom.
My favourite of the series, Alien Breed: Tower Assault, is available on GOG. Also, Project Osiris as a free fan-remake of "Alien Breed 3D", well worth checking out.
I really don't know how he missed that one. Especially when you know how to activate the cheats. That's a video of its own I can't even mention the cheat codes without comment been taken down
Happy Birthday! !:D This made me remember 2 old MS-Dos games, "Obliterator" and "Metal Mutant", with some cool cyber-xenomorps in the game and/or cover (I feel pretty old now XD).
I would throw in Phantasy Star too. Its a mix of Star Wars with Aliens like monsters near the end Contra is basically Schwarzenegger and Stallone fighting Aliens
What an interesting concept for a video! Hm, I always liked the R-Type boss who looks Xenomorph-esque. So I guess that is my favorite rip-off one. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🥳
I’m old enough to remember when Alien 1 & Aliens premiered on cable.. Metroid series is obvious.. I didn’t play R Type until many years after its release but I did have the very similar Menace.. On Amiga As far as movies I thought that one with Jake Gyllenhaal was the most impressive Alien like.. Think it was called Life
Happy birthday! QOTD, my favorite is probably the Verdugo in Resident Evil 4. Actually he's kind of a cross between an alien and a predator since he also has mandibles.
Well, even after the chest pain, if you survived, can watch the alien sing Hello My Baby. Or at least that's what Spaceballs taught me. 😉😂🤣 Yeah, can't think of any other ones off the top of my head, so in answer to your question, I'm going with the ones that you listed and say Turtles In Time. Also... ✨🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺✨ 🍺✨✨🎩✨✨🍺 🍺🌟🎁👦🎁🌟🍺 🍺🌟🎁💼🎁🌟🍺 🍺🌟🎁🔥🎁🌟🍺 🍺Happy birthday🍺 ✨🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺✨
Hey, happy cakeday! As for alien ripoffs... I think this list is missing Alien Breed! It's an iconic game series when it comes to facing horrible space monsters!
The funny thing is that I bought a giant bottle of rum from Costco to celebrate my birthday ... and I've made maybe 3 drinks in the last two months. I just got so busy with life. I guess what I'm saying is that there was no hangover. Phew.
@@DefunctGames That's good. I've got covid at the moment which is especially worrying as I've had a heart & lungs transplant. On the Aliens rip off games here's one from Europe released only a few years ago for the Spectrum: Aliens Neoplasma. Seems a lot like Alien 3 on the SNES but obviously a grx downgrade. See what you think.... ruclips.net/video/otWcnBuXF5I/видео.htmlsi=GUUcaHaHSJYt23u1
Awesome list 😎 the one on the cover of splatterhouse is ridiculous 😂 I actually just saw Alien last night in the theatre for the 45th anniversary. It was awesome 👽 One of my top few films of all time
Did that Xenophobe game actually have an honest to god duck-man in it? Fighting Xenomorphs? And I haven't heard about it until THIS very day?! Outrageous. Beyond Oasis boss is actually based on the prehistoric Dunkleosteus fish, an ancient ancestor to sharks... the tongue with it's own mouth is TOTALLY Aliens though.

I had a vague recollection that Giger had worked on that. But couodn't remember 100%

Was surprised they missed that. I thought they were going to reveal it once they started talking about it.
Konami actually went full circle by making an actual Alien arcade game, which is just Aliens ripping off Contra ripping off Aliens.
Also "First Samurai" features xenomorph-like enemies in the first level. And "Rendering Ranger R2" has an Alien-themed last stage background, with Giger-typical biomechanical structures and acid drips down from the cealing. Both games are for SNES.

I was waiting to see if Echo was on here... That vortex Queen looks pretty damn close.

Don't forget about the Team17 "Alien Breed" games, I know the classic ones were Gauntlet clones but they have some newer ones on Steam.

Contra is basically Schwarzenegger and Stallone fighting Aliens
the "alien" look seems to be everywhere in media from the 80s and 90s
As one of the most famous, successful and beloved action/horror movies of the time, of course!
Animaniacs for the SNES also had a xenomorph parody in naturally the sci fi studio stage.
What an interesting concept for a video!
Hm, I always liked the R-Type boss who looks Xenomorph-esque. So I guess that is my favorite rip-off one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🥳
Live-A-Live distant future chapter might not be full blown ripoff but it is certainly heavily inspired by it.

Very cool that you went through the effort of compilling all these references together.
May you have a bountiful and beautiful birthday!
Happy birthday!
QOTD, my favorite is probably the Verdugo in Resident Evil 4. Actually he's kind of a cross between an alien and a predator since he also has mandibles.
Ridley from Metroid while an obvious reference, looks nothing like a Xenomorph...
Also, did you completely omit the Alien Breed series???
Completely forgot the Alien Breed series because it didn't come to America until decades later.
Happy Birthday, really fun video.
No "Alien Breed" on the Amiga though 😱
Americans tend to not know of British Amiga games that werent poprted to consoles.
@@laladoopsy The first 3 got a remake for 360 and PS3. They're ok.

Happy Birthday! I'm a day late but, in my defense, I'm only now just watching this video.
Happy Belated Birthday! I hope it was a great one!
Happy belated Birthday Anniversary. It's odd people say Happy Birthday when it isn't, it's an anniversary.
June 26 is exactly two months after my birthday, so at least you got the date right. :)
@@DefunctGames Nice! Hope you didn't have too bad a hangover :)

What, no StarCraft?
More please curious about 3d ones too, especially from 5th and 6th gen
Nice video and list. what about Alien Breed ? Its maybe the most obvious rip off. Name and gameplay. And the first game is from 1991 :)
Happy Alien Birthday D
Xenophobe is such a great game.
Happy birthday!
