    i bought a Bluedriver and used it on my truck. The thing lit up like a christmas tree. When I cleared all the codes out, the engine light has not returned. Everything SEEMS to read normally now. It may have just been old codes that were not cleared. If this is true, Bluedriver cleared codes that 2 or 3 other scanners could not do. That is worth the $ right there. However, I'm not sure if I may have damaged my ECU doing this. I know the truck still has issues, so be careful. This scanner is awesome and powerful. If you leave it on it will update once per week for that particular vehicle, so something not there last week may show up next week. It also can read the drive train and transmission, but not the trans. temp unfortunately. The only drawbacks: 1. Does not connect or diagnose in run with key on but not running. 2. Takes like 2-3 minutes to run the diagnostic. But well worth the $99 @ Walmart online or Amazon (Hate Jeff Bezos tho)

    • @patrickstenson830

      Update: Yes the blue driver did what no other scan tool has done for me. Cleared all the old codes out of the memory and reset the computer. Now it is running so much better. My mileage has gone up slightly and no more codes. Occasionally it does get the po420 code but that's it.

Its like $35 USD on Amazon. 1999 Volvo S80 2.9 I6, 1996 GMC Yukon GT 5.7 Vortec V8, 2001 Buick Regal LS 3.8 V6, 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero 2.3 Turbo, 2006 Saab 9-3 Sportcombi 2.0T B207R, 2004 Volvo S40 2.4i I5, 2009 BMW 128i 3.0 I6, 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R H6, 2007 BMW Z4 3.0 Si I6, 2015 BMW F Gen 328xi 2.0 Turbo I4, 2016 Volvo S60 T5 AWD 2.5 I5. And I think thats all this scanner has seen. Live data readout is quick and accurate, as well as precise. Optional change between metric and imperial measurements. It is very inexpensive, but almost truly universal.

    Tend to agree with your pick for best standalone scan tool, with the Launch CReader. Picked up mine about a year ago CReader 3001. It has been a great little tool, especially at the price point of $25. Think the main difference between the lower priced scanners(around $25) from Launch and the more expensive scanners($30-60), is upgrade ability. If you're working on mostly older model cars, it really doesn't make much difference. Also depending on one's area, one would have a better tool than most auto parts stores & some dealerships that offer diagnostic service.

    A £3 Bluetooth dongle saved me a £200 transporter bill to move my Automatic Ford Focus last year. I went into Drive too fast whilst rolling back and it seemed to "stall" and stop. It would not start. I had the Torque app on my phone and with the Bluetooth dongle read a code that said the ECM memory was FULL. I have a VXDAS Nexzscan in my vehicle: a 2007 Xterra.
    I was driving one afternoon when the Check Engine Light came on. My scanner determined it was my gas cap. Not only was I able to diagnose, repair, dismiss the code, VXDAS Nexzscan offers a subscription for personal use.
    It has features such as 40k DTC definition,retrieves generic,manufactures-specific and pending codes as well as vehicle information(VIN,CIN,CVN) .including the ABS/ Stabilitrak codes.and shows service intervals, what service is typically needed, average prices, and is able to find repair shops.
    VXDAS Nexzscan can show some live data as well.
    VXDAS Nexzscan cannot do a smog check nor show freezeframe data, but with my model year to fail a smog requires extreme wear in the exhaust or engine, which it has not come to.
    I’d like to see a comparison of VXDAS Nexzscan and BLUEDRIVER, along side dealer-level or shop diagnostic tools for fairness.

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 лет назад

      The VXDAS looks interesting, but it looks like unlocking the app is another $60-$140 (depending what functions you want); was that the case when you bought your VXDAS?
      BlueDriver is offering app installs and updates for free with no hidden updates or unlocks. That makes it a solid value and easier tool for most people to use.
      If you're looking for specific vehicle features it's usually best to find software that's built around your vehicle type: e.g. OBDeleven for Volkswagen/Audi, FORScan for Ford/Mazda, etc. It's hard to match those features with a universal app, though Torque Pro gets you some amazing access if you know how to use it.
      Most of our readers are looking at home goods, not specialized tools, so it's unlikely that we'll do a full comparison with Dealer-grade tools. But we're really happy people like this review!

      The app hasn't been updated in years.
      If you want real support, Lemur seems to intend to support the Bluedriver for quite a while longer. jDiag seems to be a quick-cash-in clone.

      If BlueDriver says other diagnostic functions are not enabled in your region for cars you want to work on, it wouldn't be worth any more than a cheap generic adapter with an app like Torque or OBD Fusion.

    A Actron CP9680 works on OBDII. It's well-lit! The screen is large. It reads live, record, graphing, transmission codes, oxygen sensor codes, emissions readiness test, ABS, SRS, and MORE! It has code-connect to diagnose codes. It uses 4 aaa batteries under the rear cover. EBAY has it. A Snap on scanner tests OBDI and OBDII. Get the primary and troubleshooter cartridges. Get the adaptor. Get the battery pak and cable. Get the manuals. It uses a 9volt square battery under the cover on the left. OBDII uses personality keys for the OBDII adaptor. K2A is for Ford. K13 is for G.M. EBAY has it.

    in my long history of buying one time pay for life software access teached me is never for life... at some point in time... they will update their software or make a new version with all the features its missing and even include a larger compatibility map of cars... and wll call it blue driver 2.0 and will be on a subscription... the one time buy thing is a startup scheme... so they get their product validated and market validated after that is subscription.... it just makes more sense from a business perspective more income flow more development capabilities more revenue.... you get it :) so enjpoy the one time pay as its last it won't be for long... i give it 3 more years... around 4-5 years the one time payment plans shift to subscription... cause in any business plan... the validation comes after 3-5 years minimum...

    I have yet to find a Bluetooth scanner out of the 3 I have tried that will work on Toyota or Subaru myself all the ones I trade are off the shelf ones that you can get from auto parts stores except for one I ordered off of Amazon it did not connect up to my Subaru at all I did not have I toiled at the time and it absolutely will loved my roommates 2004 Explorer sport trac.

      BlueDriver says it will read those codes for models after 2005. Interpreting the codes won't automatically give you the fix, but if you're trying to do any work yourself BlueDriver gets you more info.

    Do any of these do SRS or ABS? I have a 2004 Avalanche, and as many chevy trucks go, I need the ABS bleeder function. Looks like none of these have this... Only one I'm finding that's capable of this for less than 200$ seems to be the foxwell NT630 plus, which is about 150$ or so?

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 лет назад

      Bidirectional controls are tricky and depend on the manufacturer making it easy to access and the scanner taking advantage of the functions. Looks like GM didn't switch to the newer/more universal CAN communication bus until 2006, so you're only likely to see compatibility with GM specific tools. This post says even PC software like ScanXL won't do bidirectional on your avalanche: www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php?topic=151307.0

    ANCEL AD410 vs FOXWELL NT301 OBD2 Scanner , how are they different, which would you recommend?

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 лет назад +3

      They look very, very similar. The distinctive feature of the Foxwell is recording data for playback later, which could be useful for an intermittent fault you can't always reproduce when diagnosing problems.

    • @YourBestDigs
      @YourBestDigs  5 лет назад +1

      Fixd is trying to do something different than a traditional scanner: it logs data about your car, and can track maintenance for a fleet of vehicles. It definitely doesn't cover all of the extended diagnostics that BlueDriver does, but it'll tell you what codes are.
