My interpretation of it is that she's looking for herself across the beautiful yet gouged and damaged landscape of her life, the features of which dwarf her. Before the sun sets (on her life), she manages to find and truly embrace herself, and as her own newfound ally, races to the precipice of the present moment in her life to wave her black flag, the opposite of surrendering, announcing herself as ready to stand and fight for herself if necessary. For an album that involves a journey of self-discovery and self-love, I think this is a beautiful climax. The lyrics and their timing coincident with the video also add dimension to this ("I refuse to fight your war.", etc.) PS - And I just found the video for "Dopamine", which uses the same setting and actresses. Now I have some research to do. :) PPS - After watching the "Dopamine" video, it all still seems to fit. The protagonist in the "Dopamine" video is her natural child self (as evidenced by the similarities in garb and appearance, but much looser-fitting clothing). She is abandoned and alone, wandering in despair without seeking anything or anyone. Then she's found by her adult self in the last part of the video, under the same sunset, which they then run from together.
