Oh man, I saw that wood bridge come out of nowhere and my first thought was "coming in too angled considering the slickness". Such calm recovery though - I would have been letting out a few choice swearwords, LOL! I like that the log skinny was the best route option - takes skill to ride a skinny when you're givin'er - and it doesn't often come up in race conditions because such features usually slow you down.
I think I've gotten away with that a few too many times and this time I was just a little too over confident going into it. No time to swear! Just have to get straight back to the game plan.
Nice recovery. I think that's the hardest part in racing. Making a mistake or crashing and then continuing to focus. Without giving up or pushing too hard.
Hey Jesse, I want this awesome trail at home. Its looking amazing. Fun, flow and technical at the same time. You have so an awesome style in your trails, thats amazing. Greetings from Germany
Helpful, I did the EWS 100 in finale last year and really struggled on the long stages burning out too early. Taking notes for Petzen and Val di Fassa this year.
@Jesse! Would you say that the speed that you hit crouching at actually smooths out the trail somewhat? I am a somewhat advanced rider and go about 50% of the speed you do (ha), but feel like if I just trusted my bike a bit more and let off the brakes, it would feel the same as going from 1kmph > 10kmph does (feels like it smooths out the trail). Is that true? Do I just need to trust my bike and skills and let fly through the rough a bit more?
In some ways! If you’re able to jump over or unweight over rough sections then yes, but when you mess up lines and are going faster it can be more rough.
That trail was the true essence of Enduro, descents and climbs, would have been awesome to ride. The enduros i ride in Australia lack a good climb in the stages, trails with both show what good endurance riding is! Well done mate that was an awesome run (Although i am sure there are people that are pissed they wont get 1st place because your entering) 😛
What’s the best way to go about pre riding in the days leading up to the race? It was my first time in Squamish on Friday, rode all the stages, but was cooked for the race come sat. Is it better to just ride blind with more power vs. having 1 lap but completely gassed?
That's something that is different for different people. I do best with just one practice lap and gopro to watch later. I think one practice lap is pretty essential though, so it sounds like maybe some training for 2 big days back to back could help.
@@JesseMelamedMTB awesome! It's always interesting/informative watching you ride trails that I ride myself. Definitely gives a lot of perspective on how I approach things.

These race videos rock so hard I played them in my Prius and it died at a stoplight.
Poor prius can't hang.
Wow, such a physical looking stage, especially in the conditions!
Yes it was! good training

Exactly, it's too easy to try and make up for the mistake when really there is nothing you can do, just go back to riding like you wanted.
not when you crash as much as i do...
I love your videos, thank you for posting it!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Holy hell that was fast. Nice work Jesse!!!
Thanks Ben!
Crashed and still passed two other riders. Respect! You were killin it!
I don't actually think they were in the race.
The power on the climbs! 💪
Training!
@@JesseMelamedMTB On it! just got to the gym myself!
Awesome content. Love the tips!
such a joy to watch. 1st place well deserved...
Thanks!
Simply the best...J.M...💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
That trail looks like so much fun to ride. I rarely get to ride on loam like that here on the US east coast.
It's so fun. Good dirt and good tech!
Wow, what a run! It looked slick and you were on rails!
It was half grippy half slippy.

We are super lucky here!
Amazing run, dude!
Thanks!
Great work Jesse! Course looked super intense.
It was! But it was fun.

Smooth lines and carry speed at the top and then attack.
@@JesseMelamedMTB thanks!

I agree! This stage had it all, super good enduro stage.
Those climbs looked brutal to ride on a big bike. Nice one
Yea not super easy when you're already tired.
Is that Evoc race vest even available yet? Exactly what I’m looking for. All the best on your best season 👊🏽
It should be!
yes lad! also I rode cop killer on Saturday, the pace you rode that in the redbull video is wild
Man that trail is pretty rough right now though!
Well done !
PUNCH IT CHEWY!!!! Hot damn that was Hyperdrive!!
Hell yea!
Congrats on the 1st place Jesse.
Thanks!

What a grind dude. Nice stage.
Thanks!
This looks so cool
It is!
Talking about pacing and you hammer every climb haha. What tires were you running?
nooo I was soft pedalling! Maxxis assegai up front and Dhr2 out back
it's so rad to watch the best race, compared to my own driving ms daisy speeds.
haha. You are welcome.
@@JesseMelamedMTB I mean, I did win the short course for Filipino Veterans Category. 1/1. HAHA
Sick dude🤙🏼 I would love to race this one day
Next Squamish Enduro!
Damn that ladder bridge crash could have been ugly. That's a good way to break a finger. Looks like a really demanding trail at race speed
Totally! I usually try not to crash on them haha
You´re like the animal from the muppets on the trail: WILD :)
haha thanks
Yo Jesse! How do you mount your GoPro on our helmet?
This one is under my visor with a ninja mount
Hi man, do you have any advice for loose off cambers?
Be confident and find the best line, smoothest line
niceee so stoked see you back racing.btw whats your tire pressure on dry trails with rockgardens?
Same always! 19-20psi
@@JesseMelamedMTB with cushcore?
Alter Schwede! Klasse
ya
@@JesseMelamedMTB It did not need much but now i will one of the loudest fans in tweed valley!
Would like to know ur heartrates Mate! So crazy!!! Ur awesome
My average for this stage was 169bpm, lower than usual because it was at the end of the day and I was fatigued, so it could only go so high.
@@JesseMelamedMTB 🙈 crazy anyway. Mega riding dude
How does the fresh mullet affect your watts per kg?
Seemed to do me pretty well!
Nice!
Thanks!
Aw, I wanted to see footage from the other stages as well.
I might post another stage later this week.
@@JesseMelamedMTB awesome! It's always interesting/informative watching you ride trails that I ride myself. Definitely gives a lot of perspective on how I approach things.
Are you running a gimbal, or just using stabilization?
Just stabilization! With the max lens mod it has a bit extra
kind of stage my legs would be falling off after. anaerobic af!
My lungs were worse!
Brake broke down at the start... Who needs a brake anyway ?
I would like one.
Mexico in breaking bad be like: 2:51
haha what?
@@JesseMelamedMTB you know in breaking bad how whenever the scene takes places in Mexico there's like a yellow filter, idk thought it was funny
I got tired just watching that.
haha. You're welcome
Those skinnies are frightening.
haha they are!
