SPARK: Dheeman Tailor Fashion, Somaliland

Qani Abdi is a successful entrepreneur from Somalia with great ambitions. As founder of the tailor shop Dheeman Tailor Fashion she sells tailored men's and women’s clothes in the city center of Hargeisa. Being a women in a male dominated industry, starting her business wasn’t always easy. Before selling her qualitative designs to her customers, the first obstacle to overcome was winning people’s trust. Quani knew that “starting a new business needs courage, patience and a lot of time.” But following her vision, she succeeded in persuading people that she had the skills to tailor clothes of high quality and her business could grow. The Sales, Marketing and Customer Care training she received from SPARK notably benefited this progress. Reflecting on the training’s impact, she states “there is a tangible difference on the operations of our business before and after.” Still benefiting from the skills she earned, Qani now successfully leads her business with 28 employees and plans to expand in the future: “I have the big vision to establish the biggest textile factory in Somaliland.”
