  • CONGENITAL DISORDERS AND TRAUMA
    In this lecture ´´Diseases of External Auditory Canal´´ are explained. Section one is about ´´Congenital Disorders and Trauma´´. At first, educator explains types. After that congenital disorders are pursued which include atresia of external canal. Then collaural fistula is elaborated. Educator states collaural fistula as abnormality of the first branchial cleft. At last, trauma to ear canal is highlighted.
    INFLAMMATION
    Section two is about ‘’Inflammation’’. In this section, educator talks about Inflammations of ear canal. After that reactive group is discussed. Then information about trauma is given. Trauma result from scratching the ear canal with hair pins or matchsticks, unskilled instrumentation to remove foreign bodies or vigorous cleaning of ear canal after a swim. At last, treatment is pursued.
    REACTIVE GROUP
    Section three is about ‘’Reactive Group’’. Educator starts this section by telling about reactive group which include elucidation of otomycosis. After that otitis externa haemorrhagica is elucidated. This is followed by herpes zoster oticus. Furthermore, malignant (necrotizing) otitis externa is explained. Then eczematous otitis externa is focused. Subsequently, seborrhoeic otitis externa comes under consideration. Next is the elucidation of neurodermatitis. In the end, educator highlights primary cholesteatoma of external auditory canal.
    TUMOURS
    Section four is about ‘’Tumours’’. In the beginning, osteoma is pursued. Then exostoses is discussed. Following this, ceruminoma comes under consideration. Sebaceous adenoma and papilloma is explained later on. In the end, educator elucidates malignant tumours.
    MISCELLANEOUS CONDITIONS
    Section five is about ‘’Miscellaneous Conditions’’. Earlier in this section, impacted wax or cerumen is discussed. After that foreign bodies of ear are explained. Educator give information about non-living foreign bodies and living foreign bodies. Lastly, educator notify about acquired atresia and stenosis of meatus.

    And grading u told for external canal atresia are incorrect. What u told applies for pinna only. Canal atresia has 3 grades. 1.Hypoplastic tm,2.atresic plate present 3.hypoplastic tympanic cavity.
