I think that what made BronSeele click for me was that very last cutscene, where they're actually seen arguing with each other. People claim its rushed, but if it was rushed to check off a box, the last thing we see on the planet before the arc ends wouldn't be one of them on the verge of storming out in a huff. It proves they have a bit more to them than just being the Honkai-mythos resident lesbians.
Personally I love that scene for the exact reason you mentioned. Also I love how you can clearly see that they both come from different worlds. Bronya is trying to do things in the most logical way since that's what she was raised to do, while Seele is more hot-headed and takes decisions whitout thinking of the bigger picture, because growing up on the streets doesn't allow you time to think, you have to act quickly if you want to survive.

Well... it's not canon that Star Rail's Bronya and Seele were that, but the HI3 universe is canon to Star Rail (thanks to Welt), and the manga is canon to HI3 (in fact, that kissing scene is from when Seele got trapped in the Sea of Quanta, which Bronya had to later get her out of in the HI3 main storyline), so in a way, this manga *is* Canon to Star Rail, just with a few levels of indirection (mainly that it's a different Bronya and Seele).

But putting captain shenanigans aside, the main storyline does reference the manga. It may not reference the lesbian kiss from the manga, but it does reference the events that lead up to it.

In the new 2.0 update on one of the dreampeak call. (Where you can hear other people's dream) There's a scene about Bronya and Seele in a sus dialogue. There's even an option to either GASP or "This is my favorite episode!".

1:42 the funny part is that mihoyo has an obvious obssesion with Yuri and "Clamp" like finals (if you have ever watched a story made or influenced by clamp like XXXholic, Tsubasa Cronicles or Code Geass, you notice that those women have an obssesion with story endings where someone has to sacrifice him/herself in order to save the day/world and couples and families being tragically separated forever, some of those animes have the best endings ever but at the same time the most sad ones).
Well Mihoyo is a company full of otakus so it's not surprising they take a lot of inspiration from anime. I never saw those anime you mentioned, I might check them out

And to be honest Mihoyo has hold themselves back a lot in HI3rd and Genshin, because GGZ is a bath of tears, with death, selfsacrifice and separation for days. But I think we may receive more tear jerking material in HSTR, I mean people hasn't payed to it much attention but the scene where Cololia dies in front of Bronya at the end of Belobog's story ark is sad, a story ending with CLAMP's seal of approval. XD

For those that don't known GGZ which was the first proper Honkai game with any plot had Bronya and Seele as a Lesbian couple it wasn't being openly said to make sure the CCP didn't ban Mihoyo, but later on during HI3rd the writers made it official by making the Azure Waters Manga, for which the writer was publically ostracized and they had to delete the chapter of the kiss however they still kept the implications in the game completely also they basically made them inseparable in lore so yeah they are meant for each other, in HSR this Same trend is visible they are still pairing them with each other but other than a voiceline and implications they can't really show any form of romantic thing since both the Global homophobic and CN Homophobic crowd are on their asses this time either was Seele is going nowhere without her Bronya onee chan

I don't understand why people keep spreading this misinformation. Hoyoverse/Cognosphere is only a publishing subsidiary of Mihoyo that handles operation outside China. A lot of other Chinese companies also move global operation to Singapore as a hedge against the risk of US sanctions (I wonder what happened in February 2022).
Mihoyo, the parent game development company, is a Chinese company. It's based in Shanghai, China, with Chinese owners and Chinese employees, the company earns most of their profit in China and therefore primarily caters to the Chinese market, subject to Chinese cultural sensibilities and most importantly, the Chinese legal system. Get it?

This makes me think, I thought Chinese games weren't allowed to have playable, or even redeemed villains, but a lot of the HSR characters kind of fit that role
I mean all 3 of the main Honkai Trio have ALWAYS been redeemed villains in the broad sense. Bronya least so since she never had a "my evil herrcher side blew up a city" moment but she IS one of the most skilled and thus feared assassins in Russia @@maevethefox5912

Unironiclly, Hoyo didn't do Bronya justice. I mean, if your community can only remember your character for surface level and degenerate stuff like having a hot mother and by being in gay relationship(totally friends btw) with Seele then know the character in question is shallow af.
I mean you're not wrong, they could've done a better job at making Bronya on her own more interesting as a character without relying on Seele and Cocolia so much, but still there were a lot of actual reasons on that reddit post, so it's not like people don't care about her. I only showed the comments I considered funny.

I think the issue is that GGZ/HI3 Bronya have so much character that they were sort of trying to tone down which is funny because the Bronya we know spends a large chunk of the story being ALMOST completely muted emotionally and acting as barely more Human than Svarog because her brain damage making outward shows of emotion difficult for her.
basically ironically in trying to make her more expressive and tied to the "emotions of her people" they lost some of what made her Bronya but I still think she's a good character in her own way. Even funnier when for Silverwolf they just went "Literally Bronie but like 3 years older"...Which I love don't get me wrong but I do hope that down the line we get to see a little more of Bronya the "Cyberangel" we watched grow up.
