I love my XTEN COMP. It’s my EDC in a Craft Holsters Roto Shoulder rig. It’s incredible. I’ve been a certified firearms instructor for 35 years and a shooting competitor for longer than that and before that I taught the Infantry. This is the most excellent combo I have ever seen.
I gotta go with the FN510, more capacity, superior optics mounting system, hinge trigger for more leverage for a more reliable system as we saw with grand thumbs winter pistol challenge test, threaded barrel for added comp or suppressor, higher quality mag release button that is textured and ambi, longer frame dust cover so a x300 will mount better and look better, nickel stainless steel mags which will fly out the pistol and eject very well vs sig, ive owned sig p320, sig x macro, sig p320 x compact and p365 over the years and I still think after owning a fn 509 tactical for a year it was a lot higher quality
Absolutely. I bought a M18 Commemorative & 509T at the same time to see which family I wanted to invest in… the 509 blew the M18 AWAY in my personal opinion. There’s just no comparison in quality, ended up selling the M18.
@@Tsand4 Lol shoot it, I found it to be much better than my M18 whose trigger felt hollow, had way too much play from side to side, & didn’t have a defined wall or break. The only complaint I hear about the 509 is “the trigger is gritty”… which mostly comes from people who’ve only dry-fired it. You don’t notice the grit when you actually shoot it, then when you get ~1,000rds through it the trigger smooths out and becomes quite fantastic
Agreed. There’s more to my comparison list than felt recoil. The FN barrels are better as well. I run RMR’s on my 510T, 509T, and FNX45T. Have a Romeo on the 365xl, and stock irons on the 320z compact. I like Sigs, and was an early adopter when the P226 released. That said, I like my FN’s better overall.
@@Tsand4Which trigger? The hinge or the Apex/LAPD trigger that comes with all new 509’s? If you mean the grit on take up, you can polish that out. So, while you shouldn’t have to polish machined parts to “fix” a trigger, at least it can be done. Best Glock trigger I’ve ever shot was mediocre at best, and people rave about those guns. To each their own.
Perfect timing on this video - going shopping in the morning. Was close to selecting the FN until it choked on the Sig ammo. That’s a win for Mr. Bear in the field. XTEN it is
I have over 1000 rounds thru my 510 with 0 malfunctions/ fail to feed. My cousin works for Sig in NH... has the X-Ten...nice gun, but I prefer the FN. Hope you love whatever you went with 👍
I wouldn't say the FN choked. The last round was just ejected into the empty magazine. Had there been another round in the magazine this wouldn't have happened. I'm unbiased between the two pistols as I own both. The recoil on the Sig is slightly less but the pistol feels flimsy or cheap compared to the FN. I hate the 22 round magazine the FN ships with. Wish it just shipped with 2 15 round magazines. My 2 cents.
Thank you for your review, I wish you had given more information about the triggers, sights, the weight in your comparison of these guns. But I do appreciate the information you provided.
FN 510 MRD is what I've already gone with. It pairs well with what I have, and I designated it as my OC wilderness defense pistol and back up home defense. Pretty new gun owner here, but I have been hitting the range with both my 9mm SW MP M.20 compact (CC/home defense) and the FN 510. Enjoy both pistols and both feel very solid for what I intend to use them for.
I have the original XTen, as well as the 510 Tactical (amongst many other 10's). I EDC my FN. Got an EPS and PID Plus attached to it. I carry it sidecar with a spare mag. I also carry it on duty. It's my absolute favorite out of my 10MM lineup. However, the Sig just feels and runs like it's fighting in a different weight class. The slide feels like it's on ball bearings. In fact, it feels as close to the double stack 1911 slide action as a polymer pistol can get. The FN wins overall, however. Their optic mounting system is far superior. Their suppressor height night sites are way better. The ambi mag release can be a pain at times, but it's true to the FN 5 series. And, they upgraded the trigger for the 510, so it isn't that garbage trigger the 509's have. My Wheeler trigger gauge averaged it at 3.12lbs.
I’d say it feels super nice too but damn did it feel and look cheaper than my xmacro does. I still need to get the feel of the 510 to make my choice tho
i think this is more of an apples to oranges comparison, if the FN had a comp or the sig didnt, recoil would probably be closer to the same. but I can see from an average consumer perspective that having the integrated comp is more appealing.
Man I was afraid this would happen. When i got the full size x10 and I heard they might make a comp carry size i thought im gonna want to trade in that full size. I love the FN510 tac as well butvthe full size Sigbis amazing but always sewmed a little slide heavy and not as balanced as 510. Great video thanks. Cant wait to see one and get in my hands and feel ghe balance
I looked at the 510 after I got my full sized X-Ten and it just didnt fit my hand as well. I added the AB Prototype 5.7" threaded barrel and an HB Industries micro comp and it is just an incredible shooter.
I was gonna give Springfield the old college try. Then I impulsed the 510 Tactical today. We will see how it goes. Needed a 10mm for the Alaskan woods, a bear would laugh at my G19 before it ate me.
Id instantly buy any HK 10mm Handgun. USP seems like it would handle the abuse of 10mm no problem but a VP10 or a HK45 style 10mm would be amazing as well. Until then the FN is the next best option imo. Things built like a tank.
I went back and forth on these for a long time and compared them in store and ended up with the Sig XTEN Comp. Grip wise it fit my hand much better and the trigger was much better vs the FN or the Glock20. I hate Sigs high bore axis though but the XTEN Comp has less recoil than a G20 or my Dan Wesson 10mm 1911. Shot Underwood 200gr XTP's and 220g Hard Cast and it handled it without issue.
A full length barrel with comp would have been better imo. 3.8” is just pretty short for a 10mm imo. Love my 510 Tac. Much better than my M&P10mm and it’s not even close.
I was leaning towards the FN. But that ambidextrous mag release really rubs on my trigger finger in an annoying way. Might just wait for future 10mm options
@tahertz8544 makes sense since alot of Carbon exits the comp but it's not really an issue I've fired a couple hundred rounds without wiping the lenses and you couldn't tell the difference
Damn, I’ve got the Glock 40 MOS and the Sig X10, now i just ordered the Sig X10 Comp! Never really liked Glocks anyway the grip angle just is terrible for me, but the Sig X10 is really nice and from everything i see the X10 Comp is a better shooting 10 mm. Ok Sig take my money…
Especially not when you’re more easily able to land multiple shots on target not to mention underwood and buffalo bore make absolutely wicked 10mm ammo that I have no doubt would be great in the SIG
I bought the FN510. It had horrible chamber support and all my ejected cases were extremely bulged and could not be reloaded. Sold it within 2 weeks. Love the XDM 10mms.
Lol you make no sense. You would buy the 510 if it didn’t come with a threaded barrel which is better in general? There’s an MRD version of the 510 already out so you’re just making excuses in reality 😂 you’re an sig boy because u buy cheap guns bro. Both are great! The 510 is better because of the capacity.
I keep hoping, probably in vain, that HK will eventually release a USP in 10mm.

Amen to that. The H&K P-8 the German Army uses is designed to handle high pressure 9mm rounds all day long.@@Berserkable
@thomascozart1095 the H&K USP .45 can shoot .45 Supers. From what I've seen, it's pretty close in ballistics to a 10mm.
I'm hoping for a HK VP 10 model. I have the VP 9 and VP 40 and a VP 10 model would be great.
“I guess FN doesn’t like Sig ammo!” 😂 Great comparison, great video! Keep up with the good content! 😎
Thanks
I went 510 tactical, had a bad experience with a 9mm 320, so Sig polymer guns are dead to me.

same! out of stock everywhere
when it comes to fn...magazines are mostly found online...

Sig everytime. Verses fn, walther, glock or smith & wesson. And they just look better 👍🏾
FN 510
A comp will definitely decrease FPS quite significantly.
About 50 FPS is what I tested.
The xten is not a compact, it's a carry. The grip accepts full size 15 round magazines. The comp, in xten comp, stands for compensator.
This Sig boy keeps commenting on the recoil difference. How about getting some grip strength. Hands were shaking on everything.

Sig X10 notorious for failing ? Probably the most reliable shooter of any 10MM hands down.
