Richard really seemed like he was going through the motions when he came back..I think he realized no amount of money was worth it if he wasn't feeling it anymore. .and that's why he decided to retire after coming back for another year..RIP to the legend Richard Dawson!!
@johnwilliamson3752Because of the damage caused by Ray Coombs, who was a terrible host, and made a mockery of Feud. Richard coming back could have led to the series lasting longer, but at this point, it has run its course. The questions became increasingly infantile.
@@ScottATemple I saw one of the 'Ray' episodes when it first aired. He was as phony as they come. During that episode, a lady contestant was waving her arms near him and he said "If you break my hair, I will kill you." He was a terrible host.
That board was almost the same that was also used in the UK version of this show. However unlike FEUD here in England the series is called Family Fortunes as it still is too this day
I really like the look of the set on this version of the show. Actually, I think it looks much better than even the one that Steve Harvey uses. And that one’s a cool set. I like the color scheme and the coziness I guess is a good term. You can tell that Richard has lost a few steps will say. He’s not his snappy, rhetorical self that used to be. But we all change the age so that isn’t really surprising. Unfortunately, this will be his last hurrah on TV because I believe he passed away, not too long after these episodes were shot. RIP, Richard, Dawson and you are and always will be a game show icon
The OJ Simpson trial aside, I think what hurt this version is the incredible amount of cost-cutting procedures here. A maximum of $7,000 for the first half and a maximum of $14,000 in the second half.... that's not incredibly big.
I don't recall that many game shows in NJ being preempted for the OJ trial, not that many game shows were around at that point. In NYC, this and the Doug Davidson TPIR aired on WWOR Channel 9 from 4-5PM(second half hour of the hour long Feud). Feud at the end of 1994 when Doug Davidson TPIR ended moved to 9 or 9:30AM on WWOR IIRC(second half hour only IIRC)
It was smart to go to 20 seconds for the first Fast Money contestant. On the old show, Richard sometimes hadn't even finished the last question before the buzzer went off.
Lots of things were wrong in that 1994-1995 season. Here's what needed to be fixed that could've saved the show: Bankroll game was unnecessary. Should by $5000 for the preliminary and $10,000 for the final. The gameboard is only the digital part with photoshoot answer board. Bring back the tri-board. Five people on each team NOT four. Additional cameramen needed to show the score changing NOT shifting to the team leader. Add TPiR losing horns to a failed Fast Money round.

Richard was actually very excited to host again. This version ran from 1994 to 95. Richard passed away in 2012.

The starting bank amount's(before bullseye/bankroll round)should have been $23,500(1st half) & $25,000(2nd half)of richards comeback
