By the way, I gave mostly examples for women, but I know that men face body image issues (that may look different from what women face) as well! I just had to make my tips more concise since the video is so long already :)

You're right. Beauty is so relative! I remember that being a Latin American and living for a while in Europe, once I made the comment that in my country, I "had the wrong body" because most Latin American men prefer bodies more voluptuous than mine, with bigger breasts, etc. A male friend who was from Spain responded: "You don't have the wrong body at all! Rather, you have been living in the wrong country. For us Spaniards, you're just perfect." 😁 Of course, I don't believe my country is "the wrong country," but his comment was still very cute! 😁😉 Wide hips are generally considered very sexy in Latin America, whilst apparently Spaniards prefer the opposite.

    Hi Victoria!
This was such a lovely video. There are so many points that I can totally relate to, and I think it's so important to rmb that health is ultimately holistic, not just an aesthetic/a combi of statistics.
I've been recently going through a perspective change with regards to my health especially during this period that I'm living alone overseas and suddenly have so much control (or lack thereof) over my food choices and lifestyle. My body image fluctuated quite abit over the past few years regardless of my weight, but I always felt a lot bigger and broader and less lean compared to girls around me. I felt bad not necessarily because of lofty influencers, but due to real life people around me which I suppose made it harder to dismiss because of the "what's your excuse?" mentality. Recently I've been focusing more on nutrition and exercise in a non obsessive way. I gained abit of winter weight (and I'm not panicking too much about it even though I normally would) and I'm finally in an okay place to slowly do a healthy cut to manage not necessarily my weight or the number, but the slightly damaging habits I slowly accumulated without thinking much of it. As much as I think self love for some is to be less disciplined, esp if they have a history of disordered eating, for me I think I needed to give myself a more stable routine and to be less compulsive/impulsive with food because I really wasn't doing myself any favours by not paying attention to my hunger cues/fullness cues.
And omg what you said about clothes totally resonated with me. Sometimes I can't help but feel weirdly content if I can fit into a certain size, or secretly upset if I can't squeeze into another size. When practically speaking, we end up looking better if we feel more comfortable in our clothes.
Thanks again for this video and pls take care❤️❤️❤️

Hey girl, hope you're doing well in Finland! Thank you for sharing your perspective -- I 100% agree that self love looks different for everyone. Ultimately I think what you said is the same -- listening to your body and what it's telling you (e.g. if you've been unhealthy and feel icky and sluggish and a bit heavier than is comfortable, then being more careful and paying attention to your hunger cues is part of caring for yourself + your health). Oh and as someone who lived abroad for a while, winter weight is totally normal, I remember eating a lottt more when it was colder too! Overall it is lovely to hear that it resonated :) Sending love and great to hear from you x

Hey Vic! Thankyou for making this video. You are doing a great thing 👍🏻.
Getting injured is one of the worst thing that happened to me but seeing this video , it gives me hope of that things will get alright🙃.
One more thing what sets your video apart from the rest of the RUclips is that instead of just sharing your opinion ( which is only one side of the story ) you reflect on your own reflection or in othere words you try to counter argument your own argument , ensuring that the other side of the story is also shared. For example - all the text you wrote on upper left corner of the video.
What i am just trying to say is that you try to make a balanced argument and you are really good at it.
