Unfortunately true. My view of my country (and my countrymen) changed forever during the pandemic. As the late Australian Clive James once said, "The trouble with Australians is not that they're descended from convicts. It's that they're descended from prison officers." We're not the anti-authoritarian larrikins we'd like to think we are.

As a senior, it is entertaining and sometimes amusing to see and hear things that are no longer relevant to me. Myself no longer asks myself, "So, what the hell are you going to do about it?" I share that with young people to let them know it gets better with age. Lol.

JP messed up big in his Israel vs. Palestine . where he just repeated crap he heard by anti Israel propagandists, mainly that Israel somehow killed all the peace parthners eager for a deal in Hamas or that they funded Hamas. He has good intentions, though, and I don't think he's a bad person. He just failed in doing extremely basic research about the th4 claims he brought up.

I generally like JP Sears, but he has been allowing Tucker Carlson to influence his opinions too much lately. When Tucker is right, he's great, but when he's wrong he's way off base. He flirts with antisemitism and antisemites too much, and JP seems to be somewhat caught up in that, too. I don't think JP is an antisemite, but he's accepting the premises of people like Tucker, for whom antisemitism informs too much of their worldview. People like Tucker want to confuse people who otherwise would see with complete clarity that there is only one morally sound side to be on: Israel's.
JP portrays Israel's actions as warmongering and indiscriminate killing of civilians, while ignoring the facts that Israel goes to greater lengths than any other military to avoid civilian collateral damage and Hamas deliberately uses civilians as human shields while targeting Israeli civilians. No other country would be expected to just "take the punch" of 10/7 as JP and others expect Israel to do. There are two types of people who fall for that garbage: antisemites and those who have been duped into moral confusion by the antisemites. Israel is engaged in a Just War, the requirements of which are all satisfied in this case.
