Thanks so much Sanjay, for including PLUS 3 in this week's roundup!
🥳🙌🏽 So awesome! Congratulations 🎶
Of course. It’s a very cool and useful device. I’m sure lots of people will love it.
Using the Apollo Twin MkII DUO as my travel interface since 2019. Rock solid, never had any issue, still sounds amazing and I don't feel the need to change it with another one at all.
In order to get 2 independent headphone inputs for UA you have to dish out almost $2k I like what SSL is doing.
As a person with SSD (Single Side Deafness) and a person who loves mixing on headphones, the Adam H200 headphones are getting me excited. I always hated having to switch back and forth from headphones to speakers due to only being able to hear the left channel. These headphones look rly cool, and for a good price too. Hopefully there are reviews of this headphone soon 🎉
I currently use the Behringer UMC 202HD. Planning on upgrading to SSL2+.
I USE RME BABYFACE PRO FS and yes it does solves the problems right now!😃
I use the SSL 12. its dual monitor and dual headphone control sold me. Couldn’t be happier.
I own the midi version of the SSL 2 MK it’s the best you can get in a small package. Absolutely stunning.
I am using a RME Fireface UCX II - I think it's best in class. It's expensive but solid build and awesome sound and stability and loooooooooog time driver support. My PCI card, a Hdspe AIO is in my second system since 2008 and works perfect. So RME for me is the best :)
There is 1 feature I wish SSL would include in these interfaces that they've already included in a discontinued product of theirs, the SSL Nucleus 1&2. They have mono inserts for the two mic preamps that also double as stereo inserts for a mixdown feature at the push of a button.
SSL interface looks sweet! I did some video comparisons of Orion and Knock as well as Aurora. Great week for plugs!! Keep up the great work 🙏
My dear Sanjay, as much as I appreciate your videos and the way you present the products, I have to correct you about the ADAM AUDIO headphones. At 6:45: These are NOT the first headphones from ADAM AUDIO and appear under the „ADAM AUDIO“ name. „ADAM AUDIO“ is a German manufacturer based in Berlin. The first headphone was the SP-5, and to be fair, the ADAM AUDIO SP-5 was not or is not a completely in-house development. The Berlin-based company had brought a prominent partner on board for the SP-5, so that the SP-5 represents a collaboration between ADAM Audio and Ultrasone.
Ultrasone is a small but very fine headphone manufacturer based in Bavaria. Around the corner from me here. Some outstanding musicians like Seal, Stevie Wonder etc. - pssst please don't tell anyone, it‘s a secret! - they have their very secret personal ear candy source there. By the way, I love my Ultrasone 880s. Whether the new „H-200“s are also manufactured by Ultrasone is not currently known to me.
Please keep up the good work. A hearty "Servus" from Bavaria (from an otherwise very quiet long-time subscriber)
Thanks for the information! 👍🏼
The Apogee Quartet still sings in 2024 with my M3 Macbook. When I need more than 4 inputs I use my Midas M32. Using UAD, Slate, Fabfilter and Izotope for console emulation and processing.
Just got the Clarett+ 4 Pre - and it is utterly amazing. Low noise floor - Air function on my voice is unbelievable - crystal clear - easy to use- amazing build - brilliant monitoring - it is about as good I need at home without going to my Pro studio --- full recommend - (use it with an Aston Spirit) - removed the strip now with this interface - just don't need it
Clarett+ is on another level versus this SSL2 and yes, I agree with you. Go for something within that price range.
Honestly loopop nailed it with releasing a product that is needed. Most midi keyboards do not have a key hold and although a latching foot pedal could be used it isnt ideal.
I think $79 is too much, but with the nature of how manufacturing something like that goes i think it is an expected price point.
For anyone that is using Ableton though there is a free max for live "note hold" device that can be mapped to any cc pad/button.
Should also note that Arturia keylab units have note hold button on the device. Here is hoping Novation does something similar.
Using Audient iD44 MKII with Arturia AudioFuse X8 In for additional inputs (digital ADAT). This setup is working great for electronic music production, very low noise, very high audio quality.
I’ve used Graillon for a while, and some of their other plugins are great too. The transient designer is amazing.
I will say it’s not the most amazing pitch correction I’ve used but it’s free, and actually is great for sound design… I use it for that more than pitch correction really ❤
I use a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4. I'm just in a home studio with a bunch of synths and a bass guitar. It serves quite well and it cost effective with quality. I'm happy. 😃
The SSL 2 MKII adds one (or 3) more feature that is missing from my older version. Status lights on the 3 buttons above the VU meters. It's a big improvement, as the buttons don't have a lot of "travel," so it is hard to tell simply by looking at them if they are up or down.
The Adam audio headphones look pretty nice, and that’s a super good price too!
I'm using the Presonus Studiolive 16R. I love it! Highly recommended for 16 xlr/1/4" inputs
Focusrite 18i20 3rd gen and it has everything I think I need. The air mode is so nice and I actually like the companion app focusrite control. The digital routing is actually fun and handy. I use some analog gear and also record instruments including drums so I needed a lot of ins and this works really well on a reasonable budget.
The most underrated audio interface is the Motu Ultralite MK5.
Cuemix 5 software it comes with can be used across the network and it has every 10 input/output available to windows as wasapi alongside loopback with a matrix style routing made simpler in a more streamer friendly way taken from the Motu Pro software.
The only thing i wish it had is AVB.
SSL2+ MK1 vs MK2 :
32 BIT FLOAT
HPF FILTER ON EACH CHANNEL
HEADPHONES PORTS AT THE FRONT
INSTRUMENT PORTS AT THE FRONT
RCA 3/4 BECAME TRS JACK
IMPROVED DYNAMIC RANGE
(Id like to know if outputs / headphones preamp are better cause it was extremely good already)
This is awesome and a great update whats wrong with you guys ?
Agreed. These updates are bigger than video makes them out to be!!
Thanks once again for another great video.
I am currently using a UMC2020HD. Like most areas, there's a lot of snobbery in music production but this does what I need. I have a Steinberg MR816x that was given to me and worked brilliantly until a few Windows 10 updates made it unusable. I really want to be able to use it with a laptop to record in my band's rehearsal space but that looks very unlikely.
I bought the presonus quantum es4...it's my first audio interface...so I have nothing to compare it to other than my computer internal soundcard lol...but I love it so far...and I feel it's future proof for all the I/O it offers... plus auto gain👍🏾
AVID MBox studio … loving it so much
We were expecting it to have a power input to power higher impedance headphones. Unfortunately, it was disappointing.
Hello everyone. I currently use a Steinberg UR44 and a Yamaha N8. I also had an RME UFX+, but for my workflow, the Steinberg and Yamaha just fit better.
As a fan of my SSL 2+, I would have at least liked to see significantly more gain on the preamps from the new one. SSL already even has preamps on their portable mixers with tons of gain...
DSP would have been great as well but that's a big endeavor of course
SSL interface looks pretty cool.
I use the volt 2 audio interface and it works great, but the volt 476P will be a must for me next year!
I'm still using the Behringer UMC 1820 because of all my routing needs, but the Presonus Quantum HD 8 is on the wish list. The dual adat connections are a game changer for me.
I'm using the SSL 12 (which should be called the SSL 4 btw :D). If these mkII 2-input interfaces had been around last year I would have probably gone for the 2+, it has the mix knob, which the 12 lacks.
Cool video, as always. Thank you Sanjay C. How was the Expo in NY? Waiting to hear all about it.
Even the LCD2 Classic sound great, super low distortion and with EQ they ckmpete with higher tier headphones
I just got the SSL2+ a few weeks ago (love it btw), and when i saw the new MKII on Sweetwater yesterday, I got so angry because i could’ve just waited and gotten the newer model. But, after looking at the new model, I found no use for the two features they added (32 bit float and jacks in the front, really?), and honestly, i like the look of the original better than this new one. The original was also reduced from 250 to 200 when i bought it, whereas the new + version is 100 more. SSL could’ve taken this opportunity to do something so much bigger by giving people what they wanted out of the SSL 2, like a on/off switch, better indicators, auto-gain, higher quality buttons, etc.
I said it with the MKI and I'll say it now, it needs ADAT in/out. I'm sure a 4in/4out version will come out shortly also. I'd also love to see the mix bus included. That'd be fun. Even if it was emulated like the 4k button is.
Currently I use the Motu 16a so I can sum 16 buses down via the Neve 5057. I like it and does what it should. It's Motu.
QOTW: Steinberg UR22C. It works for my needs for now, but I would like an extra set of outputs so I can use the Control Room feature in Cubase. If I ever do a major system upgrade, the interface will definitely be revisited 😁
I’m using the Motu 828 audio interface, I don’t think there’s a better bang for the buck.
I have a couple Focusrite interfaces been happy with, but I'm getting back into using Pro Tools so they have a sale for the price of a Pro Tools Studio Perpetual license you also get a MBox Studio interface. So far has been a very interesting interface, a lot more I/O, it can do two headphone mixes, and other nice features and control software. Only thing is it is physically gigantic and requires AC power.
There's actually a lot going on under the hood of that SSL
I have the Motu M2. It’s almost perfect for me. The only thing I wish it had was DSP.
Honestly the Zoom Livetrak L12 has everything I could possibly need. More, even. It has onboard recording, and I never use it 😂
Motu m4 is surely the best bang for the buck!
I still use my Behringer Xenyx 1204USB. I really should get a simple and new interface :P
QOTW: Behringer UMC22. It's all I need, and dirt cheap.
True
that Cradle one destroys CPU 💀
I didn’t even know there was a Mk1! 😅
Apollo solo and I think it should have mute switch for headphones not just monitors alsoooo another headphone port would be lovely
The last interface I saw and owned with dedicated analog insert points post pre was the yamaha ds2416csx. SSL could have done that. If UA did... oooh wee.
I use the behringer umc 0404 192khz Audio interface with the midis pre amps I've been using it for about 8 years now
live long and prosper.
Good morning Sanjay C, I hope all is well with you wife.
All is good. Thanks for asking.
Interesting to hear that both ROLI and Ableton releasing something new on Oct 8. Is it just a coincidence or somewhat connected? 🙂
Ableton - most likely a light version of Ableton Live iOS.
Jaycen Joshua isn't producer, but pro MIXER!!!
Imagine seeing this after i got SSL 2
I'm using Scarlett 2i2 1st Gen.. since 2014/15ish.. (back then the price was 50% of what it is now).. no complaints at all.. i did replace the cable but that's the only thing that ever broke in the whole decade..
If i upgrade i think i would rather have more inputs than sound quality.. and i mean xlr/inst inputs.. not line inputs.. so the only upgrade i can do is straight to the 18i8 which has 4 inputs applicable to me.. it is 4 times what i paid for the original 2i2 (or 2 times thw current 2i2 price).. so I'm not ready nor is it urgent to pull the trigger..
Please make a video on what are the options for people wanting to upgrade from a 2i2/minifuse level of interface..
Currently use The Focusrite 18i8 Gen 3, only thing I need is more ports so maybe next upgrade is to the 18i20
My audio interface is the arturia minifuse 4 and i wish it had a built in dsp processsor, but it is expensive to produce so that will crank up the price but stiil.
NI is awesome, however they need to make major updates or release a new Maschine+ seriously!!! Akai updates it's software atleast every 2 months my Maschine+ hasn't been updated in YEARS because they can't or won't update it smh
Ableton digital mini sampler portable.
Competing with ko-2 and elektron.
Hey sanjay !
Always a Nice job man !
What Would you recommand as Sound card for iPad Pro 2024 ??
À vidéo about this !!!
Take care , from NiCE ( south oh france !!)
❤❤❤❤
So you are hoping for an auto gain feature on a 32 bit capable audio interface? huh?
You don’t need autogain with 32 bit converters
I use ssl2. That enough for me
"...amd bumps up the ad/da converter to 32 bit, yup, that's it"
Sir I do not believe you understand how cool 32 bit is. You basically never need to worry about setting an input level, you can't clip, so many real world uses for that, especially podcasts, vo, critical recording sessions that can't be redone, live performance recording, I could go on.
You don't need auto gain my dude 😂
👍🏼 I’ll take the dual headphones feature over everything.
God particle is litrrally a mknecraft reference 😭
Using the Neumann MT 48
cool video!!!!
also have a question i saw one of your video in which you were wearing something like a button on your chest what was that?
Hey buddy. That was a microphone. I was testing a new one. It was good but not as good as my usual overhead.
@@SanjayC but i think it is more convenient right?
For a non fluent English speaker, what are the pros and cons in short please?
And for who this audio interface (begenner, mid level, advanced, pro) is?
SLL 2 MKII, or Antelope Zen Quadro, or Presonus HD2, or Focusrite 4th Generation?
Thanks
Man what a vid i am a huge fan learnt a lot i wanna work under u
i have emailed many times but no reply so...
You need to work on how you communicate, what work you want him you to do ? What value would you provide him ? Why would he hire you ?
@@DarkTrapStudio man i write slow so i thought i would put the least amount of words to provide the bare minimum context so that my comment does not get burried in the pile and what i do i already posted in my email.
but thanks man for pointing it out.
UAD 😍
I use the SSL2+...Is it enough? I thought so...LOL
Woulda preferred a new 12 or Higher
That Orion plugin uses too much CPU
Im currently using the uad arrow and sadly it’s age effects the Performance. Audio wise id say it’s still one of the best interfaces but one auf core chip to run all of their plugins? Idk
Apollo Twin
I am using Arturia Minifuse 2 and Missing features : Standalone Recording
I have soundcraft notepad 12fx 4 channel audio interface 24bit 48kHz. Need a good fluent but free autotune or manual tune s/w
Told you months ago that the Arturia Astrolab keyboard will be a failure. It’s official now. For the price, what you get is a travesty. I looked at their supply chain details and for the last quarter they hardly sold any of these keys. Now they are desperate and will start giving you the entire collection for free. What a failure.
How do you see their supply chain?
Still Running 2 x Apogee FW ensembles.,... Brilliant... Mac only... Been perfect.. But stuck at Bug Sur, as Apple removed FW core Audio since then..
Simply, they still smoke many a I/O today... Alas,.... Ill have to move on....
And most important , to ANYONE buying a Mac OS interface.... (RME's awesome on both, becuase the update drivers.... ) buy one thats core compliant.....That way, you arnet left out like many a non RME user..... Because the drivers are low level and system wide...
Looking at the new MOTU 828... astounding for the price....
Anyway.. Thats just me... ;)
I have the Scarlett audio interface for bed room producing like me. Do you think it is enough or would I upgrade to this new audio interface? 🎉
The Scarlett 3rd and 4th gen are great and as long as you have enough ports for your inputs and outputs for your needs then there is no reason to upgrade. If you have a gen 1 or gen 2 I think the quality of the audio is noticeably worse on those units with a high noise floor and bad crosstalk on stereo pairs, but good news is used 3rd gens are cheap and are a great option for bedroom producers.
@@kaislate Thaks a lot for the good explanation. Yes, I have the 3rd Scarlett generation of audio interface. So I am fine for my needs. Thanks👍
why do people like auto gain? is it that hard to dial in?
Eq My Uad Apollo line out Speaker
Well for being made in China🙄
Motu M2
They should have added the ADAT interface to expand when needed on the 4 output version.
