Love Zero Mission's art style in general tbh
Best art style for Metroid. I widh Samus Returns and Dread used it and a Super Metroid remake. As those controls have aged poorly.
I personally have always preferred a green visor. It fits better with the red helmet.
And with the Arm Cannon.
It's green in game due to the color palette limitation on 16-bit for sprites.

Yeah the ZM Suits have a nice design aesthetic that ties into the manga that released alongside the game, very much up my alley.
I've never really considered but honestly...yeah Zero Mission does have the best Power Suit design. And as you said, it goes along with the artstyle so well. ZM artstyle just has its own charm
Whh the obsession with the blue visor when it is almost always green XD ?
They have been shown in official art, so it'd be odd to ignore it especially when the in-game version's aren't for some reason. And I love how they look, there's that too.

While I love it to bits, it always bothered me that the normal Power Suit design in the Metroid 1 remake is based on the Metroid II yellow Power Suit design but that's probably because Nintendo don't consider the Metroid 1 designs for Samus, Kraid, Ridley and Mother Brain to be canon.
What's even weirder is that in Zero Mission they do keep the Varia suit being a palette swap like in Metroid 1 (where it's a pink palette swap of the orange Power Suit)... except that here it's an orange palette swap of the Metroid II Power Suit.
The visor color could be changing in universe for she's in Combat mode or in some other visor like those in the prime games. Also as we see in dread from her point of view within the helmet it is clear.
I really hope zero mission gets added to the switch even though I still have my gameboy cartridge for it
Got lucky and got in complete in box from a dude for like $30. This was back in like 2015 or so. Prices suck nowadays.

I love the bladed look for the shoulder pads of the older designs, they remind me of saiyan armor from DBZ
It came out the same year as prime 2.
Prime 2 was too hard and weird. Now i finaly beat pri.e 2 and im on the side of everyone else prime 2 may be the best. But thats a long game.
If you want a game thats only 1-2 hours, play zero. If you want a 3 hour game, play fusion.
Wario land 4 is built on the same system as fusion and the blocks and everything are seen in a test room for the games. The whole group that made em were the same at Nintendo. Wario land 4 has a bunch of disconnect levels, kind of more like a traditional mario game but you can choose from a set of 4 levels. Its kinda like in everyones most hated game (i love it) shadow the hedgehog. You can play it over and over again, and you can aim away from the levels you hate by which path you take. Kill people or aliens? All the levels have different choises. I love that and giving the player a choise that really impacts the game is amazing. The oldest video game makers always tried to make a game like that. Low and behold, the creativity of game making keeps giving us new ways to play, sometimes in ways we actually wanna play. I love shadow the hedgehog. There's so few games like it.
It has a very elegant design, thin and fit, it actually gives the impression of agility that goes with samus style ... Kinda reminds me to the mechas of Evangelion, specially the boots. 😗

Agreed and I also like the Blue Visor and they should add a new custom skin to have Blue Visor and Full Black powersuit aka Dark Samus Powersuit skin and Blue,Jungle Green powersuit
Its sad bc conceptually I really prefer the Samus Returns power suit, but the in game colors make it piss yellow/green almost like the varia suit in Fusion.

Yeah, harsh shading always looks cool. It’s part of why I love Majora’s Mask’s art so much.

Right?! Honestly any other game studio would have dozens of aesthetic unlockables with a history as rich as metroids: Dark suit, light suit, ped suit, dread suit, fusion suit, and that's not even counting all the different versions those ones have PLUS all the different looking versions of the classic power varia gravity suits
As far as the base Power Suit goes, I'm inclined to agree. I think the ZM's art style is what really pushes this design into the top tier. It's just so clean, sharp, and very striking.

16 / 32 bit console.
Palette limitation , unless you wanted a blue arm cannon , which ... Could have been fun for gravity ngl (because it would have given a little nod toward missile varia palette in nestroid)
Too bad the basic Power suit has been utterly side lined. We don't see it in Fusion, Dread, prime 2, prime 3, other M (they call it the power suit but it's just the varia suit painted yellow for some reason) and frankly I always disliked it's clunky look in prime

The suit looks great in zero mission, tho I 100% prefer the green visor cause the blue visor always looks out of place on these orange suits when it’s has green lighting on the chest and a green arm canon, so the blue is all alone. But it’s not bad
It’s cool, but not as powerful as return of Samus power suit.
It can’t be upgraded to the suit with the sphere shoulder armor or the gravity suit.
Never understood what the deal was between fusion and zero mission. Fusion has artwork with a blue visor, but a green visor in game. For some reason zero mission is the opposite.
GBA sprite color palette limitations are the main reason the visor could not be blue I think

Its essentially the same thing with higher quality and tbh, the Prime Power Suit looks awful imo. Her anatomy looks off, the shoulders look unusually flat, and the chest light looks goofy. Always am happy to grab the Varia upgrade ASAP

How fitting that the game where you have this suit design the longest is the one that gets it the absolute best.
And Other M has by far the blandest basic Power Suit design, same is true with Varia Suit, and WTH happened to the Gravity Suit?!?
I think that Zero Mission’s suit would have been a fine choice to translate Samus’ look into an action game, rather than what Other M went for. That suit is just too smooth looking for a power suit.
I have a fondness for Other M's suit. It feels very clean in its aesthetics and is when Metroid finally started to feel like Samus needed a more natural looking anatomy (Prime 2 technically got it first, though)
It's not that the Other M suits are terrible, but they look the most generic out of all the suit designs and that's why they're my least favorite. I'm also salty that it of all suits was the one to be used in Smash Bros 4 and 5.
@@jonahboris6681 that’s totally fair. I think it’s overuse in Smash is a big reason people aren’t as fond of it anymore. Here’s hoping whatever Smash is next has Dread Samus.

The best remake in gaming history? This is way way way better than the original it's not even funny. Samus Returns is too much of a departure from Return of Samus and has a ugly art style. It should have used this one. Same with Dread for that matter. At least that looks good.
