Honestly the only reason I love the switch is because of its beutifull games. The rest is kinda bad with no personality. I always loved my wii u cause of its personality, control and games. I hope nintendo's next console will be with more personality. (Great video!)
@mxloukaplayz9487 Yes, most mainline games are ports of Wii U games or sequels to series introduced on the Wii U (like Mario Maker or Splatoon), but it's not too bad, everyone who didn't have the chance to get a Wii U can play these amazing games on a switch. (Just don't talk about Breath of the Wild, it's the exact same game with the same price on a failed console and a successful console)
I agree. The Wii U was awesome! The way you could use both screens independently with many games was one of the best parts! And the way they made the browser function was the best!
@@PepeChadIsDaGoat but so much more! Two completely independent screens allowed for so many things the DS couldn't. Nintendoland was a small showcase of the possibilities and it was an awesome game!
I was thinking the same thing as the first replier, that the Wii U was basically like a DS but for home-consoles on the TV. It's just a shame that its DS Virtual Console didn't use the Gamepad & Television as an option for both individual screens to be used upon its advantage. (EDIT: I eventually found out that I was wrong about this so-called missed-opportunity that I mentioned) I still praise the Wii U though, and even though it's frustrating how many Wii U games barely ever allow usage of the HOME Menu Button, I still wish that the Wii U sold so much better than it actually did.
lol not much of a great experience, since you practically had to be in range of the console to still use the gamepad, and it still had to be on, wasting electricity even if you were only using the pad. and also, let's not act like it was a comfortable pad, it was uncomfortable holding it as heck. The Wii U was a good idea but ultimately pathetic.
I agree with all of your points! The Wii U was such a great system, but Nintendo apparently only thinks in profit, not in customer satisfaction... One element of the Wii U that I just recently discovered is that, not only can you play the Wii U wherever there's an outlet, which dramatically increases the portability, but you can even play Wii games in handheld mode, with the top of the GamePad acting as a sensor bar! True, the Switch can play all of its games in handheld, but it isn't back-compatible with the entire Wii library, so yay for Super Mario Galaxy 2 not requiring a TV!
what good is a handheld mode if you can't use it outside your home?? When you're forced to only be able to play handheld while being home very close to the main console, Why would you choose to play on a small screen when playing on a big tv screen is much better experience? Admit it, the Wii U may have started this whole switch experience, switching between tv and handheld, but the result was poorly executed. Which is duh, why the Wii U failed in the end so quickly. The gamepad is inconvenient both in holding in your hand and the fact that had to practically be in the same room as the main console in order to use this oh so great handheld mode you admire. I don't understand why there's still people who desperately feel the need to defend it when most points are cons rather than pros.
I prefer handheld mode over TV mode because I can play it in my room, and then I don't have to wait for the TV. Plus, if someone can't afford a TV or is, say, on an airplane, that could work. And I think the GamePad is way more comfortable than the Joy-Cons.
WiiU is much better than Switch. Let talk about heat sink, WiiU heat sink is on console not the controller but Switch has to deal with heat sink on the build in system struck together on screen.
Fair points with the controls side of things. Not had it as much as the Vita buttons being smaller but I get past it. Especially with my DSi compared to the New 3DS XL or OG DS I prefer the larger size more. I get making it small as Japanese homes, it before kids but still even using PS3 controllers they are smaller and you notice how you hold the grips and go 'yeah this is possible but not the best experience'. The OS has more personality. The online is fair whether lower player counts but still I was surprised how it functioned. Not played for online as prefer singleplayer more and I'd rather play them physical or emulate then use their services via subscription no thanks. Backwards compatibility is great. The sensor bar for sure whether in the Gamepad, candles or the original sensor bar. Many third parties AA and AAA are great besides the first party but it's not hard to avoid shovelware, sure it might be whatever percentage but I barely see them I see the gems and good games more when I search stores with Wii games. Virtual console is great but again eshop is going by March 2023. Even then how many picked up turbo graphx games? As the Switch launched by then. The Wii U feels solid. The Switch does feel cheaper when the DS original is thick like a PDA or Rugged Laptop, the Lite/DSi are slim and flimsy which I don't find appealing at all. The Switch feels on that level. It's fine but eh. I do think the 3DS/Vita have purpose as Pocket sized. The Wii U was a fine Indie system for me but the Switch offers more of course. I think Wiimotes/sensor bar is good. Not uses Joycon gyro yet in a game but the motion plus surprised me in Red Steel 2 compared to Skyward Sword on Wii. The Wii U might not be a handheld (like the GameCube bring a battery pack and your good to go, Gamepad as screen or third party screen for the GameCube) but dual screens are cool in my book besides a dock for a PDA/Pocket PC of 2017, I mean a tablet. XD Keep finding Aussie creators which is always cool.
I just bought a brand new wii u mario kart 8 deluxe edition from a local shop owner at somewhat a bargain price, he said nobody had never bought it when on shelf during wii u lifetime so he decided to keep it for a long time
I feel like the switch is designed for kids. I got my switch about a year after it released and I was younger, my hands fit perfectly with the joycons and I could care less about the menu, eshop, Nintendo online, etc. All I cared about was playing games. But after a few year my hands no longer comfortably can hold the switch, I have some rubber grips that make the joycons slightly bigger and easier to hold. I think Nintendo rushed the switch out to replace the WiiU and did so with kids being in mind. Also if I see correctly, my switch's screen protector is peeling in the same spot your's is
I fully agree. I was only 8 when I got my Wii U in 2014 and the Gamepad felt *giant* to me because of my small hands. They didn't fit it perfectly at all. Now, almost being 17, the Gamepad fits my hands perfectly and it's extremely comfortable. The Switch though... my hands aren't so big to the point it's uncomfortable to hold, they just feel kind of out of place. Even then, I know my hands will probably eventually grow to the point where it's uncomfortable. I really think Nintendo should've added contours to the back of the Joy Cons like the Wii U has. That's one of the reasons why the Gamepad is so comfortable- it's shaped so it feels like you're naturally holding it. The Switch is just an unergonomic flat surface. Oh, and keeping the right joystick above the A/B/X/Y buttons instead of below would've been nice too...
My -glorious Splatoon 1 playing machine- favorite console of all time remembers my birthday, giving a little bit of celebratory flare on that day. On top of that, I think due to the hardware, Splatoon 1 has lower controller input latency and also for its online play higher tick rate then both Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3! Splatoon 1, 2 and 3 all have matches that use a peer to peer connection, meaning each match is being hosted by one of the players who is playing it, so the Switch's Online subscription isn't paying for a better server that hosts these matches that are gotten for free on the Wii U. Also, the stages in Splatoon 1 are much more creative and unique (even from each other), showing the developers' Mario Galaxy roots, than the cramped funneling into kill-zones of both Splatoon 2 and 3, as well as not suffering from the low-cover stages of Splatoon 3 that many complain about. The GamePad also allows a quick to access Super Jump option by using tactile sense to find the lower right corner of the touch screen, so making a quick escape from a dangerous situation is only a tap away. On the topic of the games, the Wii U has some interestingly unique gameplay that utilize the GamePad, in addition to having some unique fun Nintendo features due to many of the Switch's ports being merely lifted from the PlayStation, Xbox and/or PC versions. Only the Wii U version of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water lets you dress the characters as Zelda and Zero Suit Samus, since the Switch's port is lifted from non-Nintendo console versions of the game. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water also has immersive diegetic gameplay with the GamePad acting as the in-game universe's magical camera used to combat ghosts. Imagine a survival horror, free-roaming version Pokemon Snap, but with gyro aiming and deep lore. Similarly, Zombi U has uniquely diegetic gameplay with the GamePad in it acting as the player characters' electronic devices and bug-out bag. All non-Wii U versions of this game are fully lacking an asymmetric gameplay mode that Zombi U has in which one player is like a zombie master, sending different zombies with the GamePad to attack a player who is playing with more traditional first-person shooter gameplay. Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition and Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut for the Wii U use the GamePad in immersive ways that most praise, similarly to the above examples. Wii U's Scribblenauts Unlimited and Tekken are unique for having fan favorite Nintendo power-ups, such as Super Shrooms that can make your characters change size and the Tekken game has Nintendo costumes for every character, whereas ports of these games are lacking these features! The Wii U has an eShop exclusive adventure-puzzle game title, with humorous charm called Affordable Space Adventures that many say is the best use of the GamePad and one of the best local co-op experiences gaming. Affordable Space Adventures can be played with one, two, or three players, during which the player(s) use the GamePad as the in-game's space ship's control console. The Switch's Pro Controller has an MSRP of $70 US dollars, while the Wii U's Pro Controller had an MSRP of $50 US dollars during the Wii U's lifetime. The Switch's Pro Controller has an estimated battery life of 40 hours, whereas the Wii U's Pro Controller had an estimated battery life of 80 hours! I love my Wii U, will always treasure it and in the future, I'd even want a second one, maybe even a third. @@ThisOldNeon Twilight princess HD for the Wii U is still 59.99. lastly during that era as a Wii U owner of my own not everyone can find a Wii U or even get one during that time, Plus that era was technically not perfect
Wii U is more powerful too.
no it isn’t
@@ThisOldNeon yeah it is
@@ZBC2003 prove it
@@ThisOldNeon 8 player smash lags badly on Nintendo Switch, runs nicely on Wii U, also Smash Wii U has better graphics. 3d World looks better on Wii U, BOTW runs similarly to Switch.
@@ZBC2003 that doesnt mean anything unless you compare the specs of each console.
Sorry for the Wii U fans. Never like it, Switch all the time.
As a Nintendo fan that owns a Wii U, a 3DS and a switch. I agree with you!
saying wii u is better than switch is surely aggregation since there is no nintendo console after snes with such a vast library of games including third party games there is no match for switch games and it's library is growing each day it can't be denied but on other hand wii u in today's time is best retro console if it's jailbroken ..entire wii u library comes on external hard disc and thousands of retro games can be played by retro arch pre built image .wii GameCube is natively supported..virtual Console is also amazing
i didn’t say the wii u is better
@@ThisOldNeon not you but guys in comment section are saying this!!!
