Thanks for the vid, I never thought to use SOR before and it definitely helps. I did the math a few different ways and I'm basically coming up that glyph of wisdom and glyph or SOR are basically the same if you assume 6 SOR/minute as you did in the video. SOR does better on longer fights 4min+ because you get more casts, but on shorter fights wisdom can come up on top. If you're a real pumper and doing 8+ SOR per min then SOR will get a marginal advantage but it will only come out to 1-3k mana at best and that's not a huge difference. Also now that the raids are on farm it makes less sense. If you're running into mana problems it may make sense to swap glyph of holy shock for glyph of SOR so you'd get the benefit of both mana glyphs. If I've got my math wrong, let me know!
Finally somebody who dosnt suck. Ive also wondered for a long time how nobody understands that paladin is a meele healer. People be reading guids about statsweights etc but they dont understand what the haste is for X) Thanks for making this video, atleast i know im not alone now. We Can also pump out quite abit of damage which i rarely see people do. I also would never use divine plea unless i know im not going to be casting any heals. Just standing and pumping the boss is more than enough to keep me at full mana all fights. The amount of healers standing AFK when there is no incoming damage is absolutly mind boggling. I sometimes wonder how severe psycosis do people have. Go in and damage the boss goddamnit. And if you are a paladin, how else are you going to do damage if you not standing in meele.... Sorry for the rant, but finally somebody who dosnt suck. Big ups
Thanks for the guide! The Shield of Righteousness spam for mana isn't something I ever considered. Excited to try it out tonight with the Naxx release.
@@kevinnorman1996 never oom, never need to Plea, can spam Holy Light for days... but I'm asking the hpaladin discord rn to see if the glyph+SoR spam is really necessary because just being in melee range seems to be more than enough mana regen for phase 1, no clue about phase 2.
Just started playing hpala and couldnt find a good guide, but this was really imformative and just what i was looning for. I also like /startattack macro on some spells
Thanks for the video! 😊 Really interesting to see how people still have different builds and stuff they use with somewhat the same spec 😊 I use Glyph of Seal of Light (never seen anyone use it before besides me) instead of Shield of Righteouss or Holy Light. I don't really ever cast Holy Light anyway cause it costs too much mana, and with Glyph of Seal of Light all healing is increased by 5%. Next i use Glyph of Seal of Wisdom and Glyph of Beacon of Light. Also from my 4 pieces of a gear set i get +200 spell power and +10% healing from Holy Shock, that's why i'm able to ignore Holy Light all together. And if i need extra healing i have 2 trinkets that can be used for extra Spell Power and can use wings. I've never needed Holy Light and i'm fine on mana cause i don't cast that, if i do need mana i can swith to Seal of Wisdom and do have Mana pots on me but i barely use them, sometimes in a raid maybe if ppl are taking alot of damage but my guild is fairly good at not standing in bs. But i appreciate the video and i'm definately going to play around with your talents and glyphs to see the difference.😊
Im just dropping my thoughts for discussion sake. Firstly I think the shield slam glyph will at most net you 1 or 2 holy lights, depending on the length of the encounter. It will save 200 per slam rotation, on average. Not that incredible but it helps. I also think you overvalue holylight. It obviously is absolutely nuts on paper, but you always need to account for overhealing. To top a tank, I would most likely use fol + shock over (pre)casting HL as it gets out the healing faster, you fish for an infusion proc, and you have two chances on crits instead of one. With that on cooldown you can then choose to do hl or fol, depending on if you have a proc or if you need to pump or not. Hl + shock consistently during the fight will likely lead to overuse of mana and a ton of overhealing if used in quick succession. You'd need more sow downtime to keep up. Or in your case, go ham on intellect. I think key is to understand when to do fol and when to do hl, and focus on maximizing both healing options. I would glyph fol crit rating and focus more on maximizing spellpower and maintaining a healthy crit rating for output, mana return and infusion procs.
I'd love to hear the case for another glyph, holy shock and holy light for sure, but I don't see a better third glyph than this. Again, this is not a parse andy video. This is a video aimed at people trying to speedrun/realm first where you want minimal drinking to occur. Playing this way you will essentially never drink in a full raid. I can only say from analyzing my runs I've done testing etc, I've not thrown enough flash of lights to consider the glyph worth it.
Great video. Was struggling to adapt to a more hardcore raid and your setup and ideas have helped my performance noticeably! This > generic copy pasted guides
hpal with experience here. I do agree on the holy shock glyph, i do not agree with the shield glyph. The reason is that a crit on holy shock gives you instant flash + hot on the tank. The more the better. The regen mana comes from melee attack with seal of wisdom, and a rotation of divine plea such as : (1st at 70% mana) illumination + plea + trinket use spell power (2nd when plea is up) wrath + plea (repeat). You then keep guide + shield 100% up on the tank and spam holy light, holy shock on CD, and flash the tank when shock crit. In term of stat i go for full gems intel (more mana more crit) and a gear aiming for crit+hast+spell on top of the 4T for the HL mana reduction. When there is time during the fight where i don't need to cast for 2 or 3 second, i just melee attack 2 or 3 times before healing again for seal proc. If I challenge myself I easily finish a boss fight at 100% mana if I stay at melee.
A interesting take for sure, but i would like to point out some things left out in your theory. 1. Improved devotion aura does not stack with the same talent(prot pala must take this anyway) or Resto druid's tree form so you can take those 3 points and put into Cons or even Improved Lay on hands if in your guild/pre made set up any of these 2 are present in the raid 2. Faster weapon = more chances of procs (you mentioned everything except weapons item wise (except that you have the pre-BiS one) 3. Saying how Eng/JC are the go-to proffs meanwhile not even mentioning Tailoring back enchant (don't get me wrong most people don't use it, i do) and JC is the BiS phase 1 cause of the trinkets that JC offers meanwhile Ulduar phase Meteorite Crystal or Pandoras Plea throws it out of the window as soon as you get them any of them, so you're left with the 3x improved gems (still good btw), but if your aim is to *save mana* and you're willing to go as far as to get a Global Cooldown for Glyph + use Shield of Righteousness but not mention or take into consideration Tailoring Enchant is a missed opportunity in your case study. 4. Sacred Shield is always going to be viable on Tank classes that are not Prot paladins who use it on themselfs (also to bear in mind Hpala's sacred absorbs/is the strongest out of any Paladin spec) which are Bear/DK/Warrior. Again, not a hater and i always love to see people experiment with new stuff, different approaches are always welcomed in the healing community because the role is so flexible in those regards. But i also think if you're gonna head on this way you should also take into account other factors. Also the best way you want to show up your theory is to put a side by side comparison. Even without editing skills you know how to record yourself so show some raiding footage or go to the target dummy with class buffs/totems you need and desire and show us a side by side comparison so people can actually see what you're aiming at. I don't personally need to see it cause i understand what your take on this is, but if you offer knowledge than make it as easy for the average Murloc to understand what you're saying and see the difference for themselfs. I would also like to say that you do offer some nice points, but also wanted to address this as well. Nice video and hope to see more diff stuff soon
1) We put points into Imp.Devo for the 6% healing bonus AND armor bonus. Its useful for 10 mans with no Trees and DGs aswell. 2) The +Mana bonus from faster weapons will never overcome the +stats the upgrade weapon you get, so you will always using the best weapon for stats, not for speed. 3) Pandora´s Plea is garbage. Just keep Greatness + SouP until you get Meteorite and swap one of those 2, depending on the fight lenght. Tailoring Ench is really nice, I cant argue with that. JC is really worth a discussion on phase 2+. Totally agree with Sacred Shield and practic footage stuff.
1. If you got a prot paladin in the raid, one could use the extra points for some other talents, and i only said it cause the poster mentioned it's *the only build* which is false. 2. I never said that the stats on the weapon don't matter, but for mana return proc from the seal is affected by the weapon speed, and i pointed out that he didn't show us the weapon. 3. DMC:Greatness (intellect) is by default the main trinket you're gonna use that's why i said and/or Plea/Meteorite(depending what you can get your hands on first). But i would like to note that Pandora's Plea is not to be underestimated, even to the spell power from it is nice, it's more about the passive intellect that it gives P.S ty for the feedback non the less :)

Great video! Interesting points, even if I don't agree with all of them. I liked your gem set up with orange+green instead of the enchanted tear, really works out if using Argent Crusade helm. It's trading 2 intellect for 4mp5 and 9sp which is hella worth, gonna steal that. Also appreciate the cloak info. I'd have to math out the potential mp5 on shield of righteousness glyph to see if it's enough to beat out beacon of light personally. I have tons of free globals for it in dungeons so far, but will have to see in raids.
Hello! I was wondering what addon(s) can be used for incoming heals like was mentioned here? Thanks in advance Edit: also is that a weakaura that is displaying ur mana bar over ur action bars?
Yes, that mana bar above the action bar is a weakaura. There are a lot of weakauras you can import for pallies in Wotlk, holy ret or protection they have weakauras for every kind of paladin.
Hey! Love the video. I glyphed into SoR and I gained almost 300k more mana than our other hpal. I just want to understand a little better. What does shielding do as a benefit to mana? Just the instant melee off swing timer? Trying to be the best Hpal possible.
Shield counts as an attack so it procs the seal, and you have to wait for the swing anyway if you're coming out of a regular hard cast anyway so it's just an active global to get back mana. Because you also get atleast 1 autoattack every time you shield slam, think of it as when you press shield slam, you get back 1300 mana.
Nice video, i saw your comment about replacing the Seal of wisdom glyph instead of Holy shock, i think i'm going to keep Seal of wisdom seems like it will net the most mana and i mostly use holyshock when i have to move, i'll test it out and see how i like it. I was also thinking about getting a fast mace to replace when i need to get some mana as our pre-bis mace is a bit slow not sure if this is worth it though, thoughts?
as a fellow aggressive paladin, id like to suggest, rather than macroing every spell to mouseover so you never have to untarget the boss, consider just macroing judgement/shield with start attack. that way you can click and heal and just hit judgement/shield to resume attacking. less work, better parctice when targets are dying and youre constantly need new targets.
@@halfblood3368 /startattack /cast Judgement of Light if you want to get fancy you can also add #showtooltip Judgement of Light and just replace Judgement of Light with whatever melee ability you want to spam to automatically have yourself attack whatever's in front of you. the cool part is even if the ability is on cooldown. you'll still target and start attacking, which is all that really matters.
Hey, do you really think it's worth doing at this time? Never really run out of mana in naxx, even tho i'm hard healing alot. Maybe it's more of a thing in Ulduar? My guild is currently just running 4 healers without a problem. I think it's a really nice idea that I def would try at some point, just don't see it used for now. Happy to hear your thoughts.
here are my thoughts. first off i'm going to try the shield glyph as soon as i can because ive already been meleeing for a ton of mana. I think the bigger issue here are the globals you're losing. not being able to use the beacon glyph is pretty huge, you HAVE to cast beacon 30% more not having the glyph during a fight, and you have very little control over when that cast is going to occur, since you want to avoid wasting up time on it. The tank is very often going to be in a bad spot when you're re applying beacon. not to mention beacon is an expensive spell and not having the glyph is essentially costing you 500 mana every time you cast it. Also this is all going to change when more difficult content comes out, you're definitely not going to have globals free to be casting righteousness in ulduar, and casting beacon 30% more is definitely not going to be viable.

I’m so confused. The spec doesn’t seem min max to me it seems all around. Like some damage some healing. Is this more dps oriented? Like retail style healing where healers do damage as well? Is that viable ?
Most 25m raids will have a resto Druid so those 3 points in improved devo aura are pointless.. tree aura and improved devo aura don’t stack.. and tree aura has 100yd range.. so best to use those 3 points from improved devo aura in blessed hands, improved lay on hands or improved concentration aura other than that good vid
@@Kamken81 duh.. that’s obvious lmao.. and that 6% healing doesn’t stack with the resto druids aura which is just as good and has 100yd range for everyone.. so as long as u got a resto Druid in ur guild u can spend those 3 talent points elsewhere
If you're mostly running dungeons, glyph of command with seal of command if specced deep enough into ret, (quickened judgments that are free and actually net gain mana) plus seal of command is one of the best seals for dungeon cleaving. Obviously you are up close and personal, but you need to know when to hang back and heal reactively/proactively when necessary.

I dont get it why people expecialy ones who play healer have ther abilitys in the middle , are you a clicker ? Myself in the middle have raid UI as real healer
Does it look like I click my spells when every button is keybound? It’s just how I’m used to having my stuff set up. I come from retail wow where I don’t play healer at all so maybe that’s how it’s different
I use Focus macros for main tank rebuffs, while boss is my target and i heal with Healbot Continued… waaaaaay easier for me… just remove raid UI and use Healbots Ui.
As a healer who’s used healbot for a long time and recently tried other addons, healbot seems a bit slow on updating heal info and can cause you to full overheal even though your bars show health missing Ive liked clique/grid and elvui a bit more for snappiness since tbc
Why the hell you would use SoR waisting mana and a global CD that could cost someones life you have shit lots of haste as pala with a fast weapon just auto atack , and your 3rd glyph should be beacon of light thoes 30 extra second save up tons of mana on boss fight. And a macro to cast SoR and cast heals what you dont have a healing addon that lets you heal people with targeting them ?
try /startattack for your macros. also classic discord prolly swamped with boomers. don't start a discussion with these people. it's like the medieval times. they completely lose their shit if you start bringin retail strats into this game.

as a fellow aggressive paladin, id like to suggest, rather than macroing every spell to mouseover so you never have to untarget the boss, consider just macroing judgement/shield with start attack. that way you can click and heal and just hit judgement/shield to resume attacking. less work, better parctice when targets are dying and youre constantly need new targets.
How do you macro that ?
@@halfblood3368
/startattack
/cast Judgement of Light
if you want to get fancy you can also add
#showtooltip Judgement of Light
and just replace Judgement of Light with whatever melee ability you want to spam to automatically have yourself attack whatever's in front of you.
the cool part is even if the ability is on cooldown. you'll still target and start attacking, which is all that really matters.
What about using healbot?
/startattack is a must have
Sorry if this has been answered before (I am a new viewer), but what is the addon that shows you your equipment sets? Thanks!
That is just an option in interface
Nice Video! Do you always use judgement of light on cooldown?
I don't judge light in raid, our tanks do that, but just judge if there's literally nothing else I can do or the debuff is about to fade
Again for what the guide was made for yes. If you were looking to speedrun naxx shield slam glyph is undoubtedly the best option
Tips and tricks video for naxx healing, parsing?
Newbro Paladin here. Why do you think that haste is a good regen stat? I always assumed it was just for throughout. Thank you kindly for the video
It's because of what I said regarding seal of wisdom, haste increases attack speed which helps regen substantially
any updates on this build before icc comes out ??
Hey Zonie I see you have placed JoL on your bars instead of JoW
Don’t we want to use JoW for the mana regen from auto attacks???
I mean tanks in my guild judge wisdom so it doesn't really matter
here are my thoughts. first off i'm going to try the shield glyph as soon as i can because ive already been meleeing for a ton of mana.
I would never run beacon glyph but you do you pal.
@@Zoniex lmao imagine complaining about being flamed on discord for explaining your strat, and then typing up that garbage response. Have fun casting Holy shock a second sooner lmao
xd
@@Jeff-uu9vo never heard of this RUclipsr. Just saw shield gameplay and gave it a click. If his response triggered you that badly, then your the guy giving classic the terrible rep it has. Probably the same guy wanting bis classes for speed heroic runs that take 13 minutes instead of the normal 15 minutes in fresh 80 gear 😂
No mention of the salvation glyph+Divine sac - 50% shield wall and righteous fury for -76% damage reduction Oof.....the Shock glyph is a pvp glyph thats for sure.
why do you want to use divine plea only when greatness procs? how does greatness proc make it a good time to use plea? learning paladin and found your video, thanks.
it scales with the int you gain from the trinket proc
What addon that shows ally nameplate hp over the chararcters?
I’m so confused. The spec doesn’t seem min max to me it seems all around. Like some damage some healing. Is this more dps oriented? Like retail style healing where healers do damage as well? Is that viable ?
It’s realm first or speed run oriented made this video before naxx release. The goal is to never run out of mana and never ever stop to drink
Should I be casting my holy lights when there’s no damage going out? Like for first part of KT as far as parsing goes?
when there is no damage, I usually cast HL to refresh the buff, otherwise i just use holy shock and jumps around
Have you explored finding 5 points to put into benediction for further cost reduction on shield of righteousness?
You need divine guardian and imp devotion aura so that will never be taken. Also 10% for 5 points is insanely expensive
Most 25m raids will have a resto Druid so those 3 points in improved devo aura are pointless.. tree aura and improved devo aura don’t stack.. and tree aura has 100yd range.. so best to use those 3 points from improved devo aura in blessed hands, improved lay on hands or improved concentration aura other than that good vid
its not for the armor its for the 6% healing for anyone effected by your auras it can be crusader aura it wont matter still get 6% healing
@@Kamken81 duh.. that’s obvious lmao.. and that 6% healing doesn’t stack with the resto druids aura which is just as good and has 100yd range for everyone.. so as long as u got a resto Druid in ur guild u can spend those 3 talent points elsewhere
@@murda1134 we still do other stuff in the game besides raid. ill take my 6% healing full time thanks
@@Kamken81 lmao like what heroics?? Tf u doing heroics for 😂😂 trash gear
If you're mostly running dungeons, glyph of command with seal of command if specced deep enough into ret, (quickened judgments that are free and actually net gain mana) plus seal of command is one of the best seals for dungeon cleaving. Obviously you are up close and personal, but you need to know when to hang back and heal reactively/proactively when necessary.
yeah that's a fun build. But Divine Sacrifice I think is just too strong to ever even consider not taking
I liked video so much. Would you be able to share that week aura for divine plea?
wago.io/7aeAdVPhi
Can you list the addons you are using?
why did you stop playing? keep the guides up maman
classic just couldn't keep my attention as soon as dragonflight came out. Didn't feel like raid logging during prog in retail and m+ season.
Maybe I'll return to making retail content but I also understand that's not really something the people that subscribed here want to see
1:38 starts the guide
Any chance u can share plater profile ?
Will you please post addons and weakauras
I dont get it why people expecialy ones who play healer have ther abilitys in the middle , are you a clicker ? Myself in the middle have raid UI as real healer
Does it look like I click my spells when every button is keybound? It’s just how I’m used to having my stuff set up. I come from retail wow where I don’t play healer at all so maybe that’s how it’s different
Can you share the weak aura? Love that play style as well.

What is the addon for your nameplates over friendly/enemy players
Threat Plates
Subbed teach me senpai. more plz
I use Focus macros for main tank rebuffs, while boss is my target and i heal with Healbot Continued… waaaaaay easier for me… just remove raid UI and use Healbots Ui.
As a healer who’s used healbot for a long time and recently tried other addons, healbot seems a bit slow on updating heal info and can cause you to full overheal even though your bars show health missing
Ive liked clique/grid and elvui a bit more for snappiness since tbc
@@Cmoneys13 does VuhDo have the same issue as Healbot ?
ur mouseover macros is not working for me can u help me?
just use the add on clique to make them, way easier.
I explained why in the video. If your brain is too small to use an extra spell you don’t have to
try /startattack for your macros. also classic discord prolly swamped with boomers. don't start a discussion with these people. it's like the medieval times. they completely lose their shit if you start bringin retail strats into this game.
is it opposite day or wtf timeline do you live in
Shield lol, good joke
Lol, try hard 😆
