This episode for me felt like we get to see Saracen become Matt for Coach. Not QB1, not the kid dating his daughter, but who this kid is when he's not on the field, and it's really great how he responds to that and steps up for Matt when he needs it.
Landry and Riggins is the duo I never knew I needed.
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts podcast (the one with Billy and Mindy) often comments that the show used to throw two people together who you wouldn't think of having in scenes together and see how the chemistry worked. Tim and Landry is classic and both those guys were notorious for going off script so there's a lot of really natural interactions between them.

This was the episode that had me buying the DVDs. I came across the show and tivo'd a few episodes (remember those days lol) so I sat down and watched Full Hearts, It's Different for Girls and Nevermind, and by the end of this one I was on Amazon buying the season 1 box set. No regrets, still my favorite show ever.
As a dad, watching Matt struggle so much just breaks my heart. Glad he's got the Taylor family to support him. That kid deals with a lot.
Edit: and your remarks about Tami and coach are spot on! They are my relationship goals.
I just love how healthy and functional their relationship is, when you hardly ever see a real working happy marriage on TV.

Only the first season has 22 episodes. The rest have 15 or 13 each. There are 76 episodes in total.

The Matt/Dad arc is one of my favorites 😢
So uncomfortable watching those "risque" scenes with Jason and Lyla. I am thinking "man I shouldn't be appreciating how hot Lyla is" but Lyla (Minka Keely) was really 25-26 years old when they filmed this.
Any red blooded American male can appreciate a mid 20s-Minka Kelly. Don’t worry bro, you’re good 🤣
The only cast member who was actually a teenager was Aimee Teegarden who played Julie, she was the age her character is supposed to be. Everyone else was in their 20s. (Must have made things awkward for Zach Gilford at times...)
1. GOOF: Henry Sarasin has been in the Army for20 years but is wearing E-3 stripes. He would be higher on the food chain than that.
