I seriously doubt that he was going 30 miles an hour when he hit that hay bale. Airbags are supposed to deploy at about 16 MPH and there would have been significant damage to the front of the car if he had been going 30.

I'm not sure if the Artic Warfare Magnum can be bought by civilians. It is in .338 Lapua Magnum, very powerful bullet in a very accurate British sniper.
We bale hay and there are different sizes and densities to consider. Would be interesting to see what happens to one of our very tightly rolled bales. The cores can be so dense we have to cut them apart if the baler is not configured correctly. Ours weigh about 750 to 800 lbs.
I live in a chernozem (back earth) region in Germany, so not much hay being made. But straw bales are a common product, and they usually seem to be of higher density compared to the hay bale used in this video. Would be interesting to see if these are even more resistant- or not.

Paul Roder - Matt has done that, plus others on RUclips. Not much in a house will stop average bullets from most common firearms (pistols through shotguns and rifles). This is why it is so *important* to know what's on the other side of the wall.

One of those small, rectangular hay bales will stop a Corvette. Someone dropped one in the middle of I-30 and a clown in a relatively new Corvette decided he was going to run "through" the bale. This bale doesn't look very dense. Try to find a bale made by Kverneland(in perfect) *belt baler* ! (model 6720 for example) or Krone. A similar size will weigh 1.5-2 times more. _~400 kg._ It is impossible to shove a pen in it. I'm sure, that .338 will not punch it.

Agreed, this bale is barely packed and was probably made by a contractor who is likely to make light bales so there are more of them. You can easily tell by looking at the side at 7:17. A well packed tight bale of hay (like what my Dad makes) will have a star shape from being squeezed tight in the baler instead of the circular center in this bale. I say make a video of making the bale, fill the baler completely until it almost bursts, then you have a challenge!
