"It's a way of letting ourselves off the hook and outsourcing responsibility for what we do." This nailed it for me.

The belief in personal 'free will' is the final, most stubborn and most subtle form of bondage.

Maybe if I become fully enlightened I will see it those terms - until then I will work to become productive with my free will, in the interests of myself and others. Free will can't be wished away, it's more a question of becoming peaceful with it and making good use of it. Thank you for commenting!

Totally agree. I see that as the 9th fetter: conceit of the self. For example: I’m special! Look at all the great things I’ve done absolutely of my own accord. I’m a self-made person!

As god is consciousness and has free will, all creatures view their own perspective as the most precious in eternity. Who does not love their child and hold their perspective most precious, as any of the smallest of enlightened critters on this earth would.

God is found within, where consciousness can be touched, and truly resides, and gives free will its lasting import.

Yes! You almost said the “R” word! 😉 I find it quite amusing to hear teachers say to trust and reside in experience rather than thought and beliefs. Then in the next breath they say that there’s a universal consciousness that we’re all part of. Really? That’s a belief, not direct experience. In direct experience there’s only the single consciousness attached to this body. This awareness might be the same as everyone else’s from an experiential perspective. That should engender some compassion for others based on our shared experience, but there’s zero evidence that this consciousness is linked in any way to anyone else’s.

It was pathetic to hear athletes thanking God as if he or she tilted the odds or wtf.
