    Thank so much for this training Aunty Flo! I missed out on some of these detailed training. My Dad has tried but you know 🤷🏽‍♀️. So thanks, I now know why my dried ugu is always so sandy in everything we cook urgh, and how to treat old/new yam. We’re from near Portharcourt but were born in London. My husband is Naija born so cooking good food is a must. Though it’s just not always straightforward when basic details are missing so thanks for providing those bits of info.

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  3 года назад +3

      I'm glad to read about what you picked up from the video. You are welcome. That's why I have trust issues with anything dried or ground that I did not prep myself. Some people don't pay attention to these tiny details when prepping ingredients for home cooking not to talk of the people that prepare these in large quantities for sale. They never have the patience.
      If you still have some of the dry ugu, what you will do is to soak it in lukewarm water for a long time. I will start with 1 hour to be honest. Then after that give it a good rub as you wash and you will see the sand settle at the bottom of the bowl. I would change water several times as needed till I am sure there's no more sand in it.

    • @lalebakara
      @lalebakara 3 года назад +1

      Flo Chinyere thank you so much for your response. I totally agree with you. It’s just not easy to get fresh ingredients anymore, even fresh frozen has ugu has become hard to find post Brexit! Dalu all the same.
      I will do the prolonged soaking plus washing with salt method. I just have to show hubby the same way too so that all soups are sand free going forward.!!! Hehehehe x

      Guys. If you watch the video, you would see it's definitely more than 1 stove burner (from the design of the cooker). For pple that actually cook, you would know frying eggs like this takes less than 10 mins. Secondly, she is teaching her nieces...maybe she is doing it one at a time for their learning sake. Or maybe this particular stove burner sits on a place with better light for her videos.
      So hopefully, your words are just for sarcasm and not real like you believe she has just one stove burner. :)
